CAPTAIN OURANOS AKASHA
50s :: Galactic Empire :: Interdictor Captain
Currently aboard Deliverance

Character Background

A career military officer from Kuat, whose wife and daughter were killed during a rebel attack during the early stages of the Galactic Civil War. He dedicated himself to his military service, and over the last decade or so has commanded a number of ships for the Empire, most recently the Interdictor Cruiser Deliverance.
His son is Elias Akasha, a former Imperial Guard currently serving as a Praetor with COMPNOR.

Raw Material

Ouran is a pragmatist, who believes that after the death of his wife and daughter he no longer has the luxury of sentiment. He is not amoral, and is not devoid of empathy, but he believes that his own sense of morality is expendable, and that the ends do justify the means when the "greater good" is at stake. He does not believe that the Empire is good, and does not condone all of it's historic actions, but he does feel that it is a strong government whose success in maintaining order and ensuring the safety of the populace is - based on objective analysis, statistics, and the like - a strong enough endorsement. He has no tolerance whatsoever for disloyalty, and views doubt and indecision as a weakness of character. Of the two, he would rather someone had the balls to rebel based on their principles, than a lack of conviction that lets them stand idly by.
Ouran served with the Republic military during the Clone Wars. He was a Lieutenant when the Empire first formed.
Despite 30+ years of Imperial service, Akasha is still a Captain - by choice. While for some, command of a Star Destroyer and a subsequent Admiralty position is their sole ambition, but Akasha finds the prospect of that kind of assignment boring, preferring "more interesting" assignments chasing down smugglers, or patrolling the frontier.
The Deliverance is an Interdictor Cruiser, and is part of the vast "surplus" of military vessels that the Empire has now that their territory is significantly smaller. It has no current/fixed assignment, and is instead rotated in and out of different assignments based on the military's current needs. One week the Deliverance might be patrolling the Alliance-Imperial border, while the next it could be transporting a ranking officer to Cloud City, or ferrying dignitaries to Jovan Station.
There is some sort of prototype aboard Deliverance, developed by the Advanced Weapons Research. Details to follow.

Plot Ideas

Imperial Knights borrowing the Deliverance for missions.
Transporting Imperial folks on sneaky sneaky missions.
Exploring uncharted areas of space, sneaking around the edge of the Alliance to pester the Hutts, etc.
Customs / border / etc encounters with pirates, smugglers, bounty hunters, etc.
Corellian Blockade stuff.
Imperials on Cloud City?
Imperials on Jovan Station?
Imperial pilots / soldiers / officers / etc looking for somewhere to serve?

Existing Relationships

Elias Akasha - Ouran's son, and only living relative. Both have been hardened by their loss of family, and have dedicated their lives to serving the Empire. At one point, Elias served Miranda Tarkin directly, first as her security chief and then as an Imperial Guard after her coronation. He currently serves as a Praetor: an operative with legal authority granted by COMPNOR to investigate and execute traitors and insurgents.
