BEAR BANTHABRAND
34 : : Corellian/Independent/Bounty Hunter’s Guild : : Bounty Hunter
Character Background
Bear enlisted in the Imperial Academy in 8BBY. He excelled in his officer training and rose through the ranks of the Stormtrooper Corps to join the Imperial shock troopers.
Over the course of his military career with the Empire, he fought in numerous key battles, such as the Assault on Thyferra, the Invasion of Fondor, and the Raid on Polis Massa. On Polis Massa, Bear commanded his own platoon, and was wounded in combat.
Following the destruction of Alderaan, Bear defected to the Rebel Alliance.
His first battle fighting as a rebel was at Boz Pity, where he had his first taste of crushing defeat. This trend continued on Restus, and even Hoth, where he met his future wife.
Their daughter, Ceris, was born, 4ABY.
While the Alliance regrouped, Bear was approached to put his skills to better use than on the front line of a battlefield. So he spent the next few years carrying out black ops missions for the Alliance military.
Ceris died of Rooze disease, 9ABY.
In 10ABY, Bear left the Alliance, and divorced from his wife. He had very little, and decided to put his skills to bounty hunting.
Raw Material
Bear has very few credits to his name, and is just about able to make ends meet. He’s desperate, and will take almost any job.
All of his equipment is shoddy second-hand stuff that often breaks. For example, his wrist mounted grapple will sometimes fail to retract, forcing him to spend time manually reeling it in. Not ideal in the heat of battle.
The exception to this is his pride and joy, a pristine DE-10 blaster pistol called Anni.
Bear would be an alcoholic, if he could afford it. He drinks whenever he can.
He is secretive about the origins of his strange name. He makes up a different story every time he’s asked.
He doesn’t talk about his family.
Life has dealt him some rough hands. He has become cynical and world-weary.
Because he is physically imposing, and can handle himself, Bear has quite a laid-back attitude around people, even if he does keep them at arm’s length.
He hates the Empire.
Plot Ideas
Bounty hunting contracts.
Odd jobs. Honestly, he’ll do anything for credits.
Bear finds a way to upgrade his gear, so he can become a better bounty hunter.
Mercenary work for the Alliance. Happy to help, but no strings attached.
Imperial entanglements. His storm trooper history comes back to haunt him.
Or something ugly surfaces from his swamp of black ops work.
A cantina brawl - because booze, violence, and mayhem.

Bear finds a purpose in life beyond credits and drink.
