Alvalana Tijk
20/287 :: Scottish/Vampire :: Shopowner
Currently in:
Character Background
Born in 1727 to Braddon and Emilie, Alvalana had two older brothers and one younger sister. Being sheep herders, their business with wool flourished during the Industrial Revolution and that year that Alvalana was born, the Board of Manufactures had been established in Edinburgh which would help Scottish businesses compete with the American colonies as well as Germany. That year, the Royal Bank of Scotland had also gotten clearance to establish itself once England was assured that it had no Jacobite affiliations. Scotland had become united with England in 1707, only twenty years prior becoming the last member state to form Great Britain.
Being of mixed descent, the lineage of her family could be traced to Germanic mercenaries fighting with the Roman army who had settled near Stirling once Rome went back home.
Growing up on the farm, she had caught the eyes of not a few suitors visiting the market in Stirling as well as the local burgess's son, Edgar.
During the Rising of '45, Charles led his Highland chieftains through Stirling on his way to Edinburgh where they would eventually defeat the small English force not engaged in the Austrian war. Braddon hid his wife and Alvalana away from the clansmen.
Both of her brothers took part in the Rising and the second oldest, Connor died during the fighting east of Edinburgh.
In 1747, Alvalana's life changed forever.
Raw Material
Having traveled over the past 240 years, Alvalana has been a part of many wars and confrontations, though always in the background and typically in the first aid stations, MASH units.
Exploring many small islands, she's run into several tribes who weren't as hospitable to outsiders and her nature would have manifested itself in a major way to survive. One such attack took place on Borneo during the fighting in the 1950's between Indonesia and Malaysian rebels with the British army caught in the middle.
A guest of the Emir of Kuwait, Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, she was caught in the Iraqi invasion of 1990 and had to escape to the desert with him.
Plot Ideas
Having moved around every twenty or so years, from one small town to the next, Alvalana has lived on nearly every continent since that time trying to keep her identity a secret from prying eyes of either photojournalists or other law enforcement agencies.
Keeping one's identity a secret when everyone has a smart phone these days is nearly impossible, so there may be at least one or two out there that have a pic of her which gets to someone that she's met in the past.
Run-ins with other special individuals living in the shadows is also possible, since she has traveled a lot.
She is of the Ventrue clan.
Existing Relationships
Anna Peterson - current roommate and confidante.
Ty Peterson - Anna's cousin and Alvalana's guardian when she's "resting".
