The Criminal Element and its darker side

One idea I was looking at was an Outer Rim based criminal organization that would work with other fringe elements. But I had a few questions, those namely being;

#1 Who/What else is doing or planning something similar?

#2 What is kosher as far as criminal acts go? I imagine there's a certain limit as to what you can write for criminal activity, obviously anything NC-17 is out the door, but what else do we try to stray from?

There is the criminal organization Tenloss Syndicate. I play the head of it's smuggling arm, Galindas Exports. While primarily housed around the Greater Javin sector, there is no reason it cannot have influences elsewhere. Unlike Black Sun which has a measure of decorum and humanity, Tenloss has no such boundaries and deals in all kinds of crime, including slavery.

Then there is Damien, who is currently hiding out in the outer rim building a power base from which to strike at the Empire and Alliance from. He had recently set up a ground base on Oba Diah through an alliance with one of the Pyke clans. While not a criminal himself, Damien has a heavy influence on the outer reaches of space where he occupies. He is constantly raiding about forcing recruitment or death upon those he visits. He also makes alliances with the dregs of society, such as the Pyke. He cannot be stingy where he finds allies. Any sort of criminal organization that goes on in the outer-rim will likely have ties to him in one fashion or another. Ally, enemy, or even a gentleman's agreement to leave each other alone.
