In essence, Academy Smashball is... College Football. A silly little name alteration that is Star Wars centric. I've mentioned it in one post, with the barest of anything, really. So, in an effort to make a fun little creative adventure of sorts, I thought it'd be neat to open this up for our College Football lovers to have at, essentially.

I've only got two conferences named, the IC10 (Inner Core 10), and the SAC (Southern Alliance Conference). Haven't gone too much further, though I did have Carida being in the IC10 and Bothawui in the SAC.

I've been looking at the map to do my best with figuring out where conferences might be, and only really came up with the two. We'd need to figure out which academies would be large enough to have schools. We could come up with rivalries, too, since it wouldn't be proper otherwise.

I think it'd be a lot of fun to put together, plus it would go a long way to even further fleshing things out here.

So the GAAA (Galactic Academic Athletic Association) crosses borders between the Alliance and the Empire? I could see that leading to some rather heated rivalries. I wonder if any conferences re-aligned following the treaty that formalized the border.

Or, as an alternative, some schools, like Dac and Bothawui, couldn't compete on the galactic stage during the Civil War until the treaty calmed things down enough to re-establish those ties. This year may be the first in the last twenty or so that some of those rivalries could be rekindled.

Adding in that wonderful spice of galactic politics will be fantastic for the G-Triple-A. And you're so right about it leading to heated rivalries. I do see some conferences re-aligning after the treaty, with some fans treating it like a 'coming home' event of sorts.

There has to be plenty of civilized worlds that would offer more than one university team, especially every world on a major trade route or crossroads. That alone is going to give them tons of revenue for more than one university. No doubt that could also be another way for the Alliance to keep their client worlds closer. Can't tell me that Corellia wouldn't have a team or two. :) Even worlds within their borders with more of a criminal-slanted government would want in that action making for some interesting behind the scenes politicking. Even bribes and other corruption, especially with referees.

I love the politicking angle, and it would definitely open up some fun intrigues :D

And oh man, two schools from the same planet is glorious :lol
