THAUMAS DRUDE
50s :: Alderaanian / Unknown :: Washed-Up Actor / Mercenary
Currently on: ???

Character Background

Under the stage name Tommy Drude, Thaumas had an acting career shortly before and after the Clone Wars. He had a supporting role in the Republic Rangers holoseries (alongside actors like Ceto Rübezahl), but never achieved the same popularity or acclaim, and his career failed to springboard on to anything of note.
Becoming obsessed with holding on to the "glory days", he enrolled in the Imperial Academy hoping to emulate his fictional counterpart. Not as skilled as the character he portrayed however, he languished in an uneventful career as a TIE Bomber pilot, eventually resigning after his homeworld was destroyed.
Drude joined the Rebellion, and served as a Y-Wing pilot for almost a decade, achieving command of his own Squadron but not rising much further. He left the Alliance in protest when they signed their peace treaty with the Empire, and has spent the time since drifting from shady job to shady job.

Raw Material

Name is pronounced "Tao-mas". He cringes every time anyone uses his old stage name, Tommy.
Portrayed Lieutenant Goraidh "Raid" Dior, the LAAT pilot and "Yellow Ranger" on Republic Rangers.
Has become increasingly frantic and desperate as the years go on. Has a lot of nervous habits, and a lot of paranoid notions. More or less feels as if his life has been wasted, and that he has failed to live up to anyone's expectations.
Much of his paranoia is xenophobic and superstitious in nature. He does not necessarily see himself (or humans) as superior, but between his sheltered existence and Imperial indoctrination, he finds that which is different to be utterly terrifying.
Recently, Thaumas has become something of a religious crackpot. His beliefs vaguely align with the Guardians of the Whills, but his particular version is based only on a partial understanding of that religion, and is heavily coloured by his own (mis)interpretations. In particular, Thaumas regards committing sin - and then atoning for it - a necessary part of finding balance within himself: the amount of "good" and "bad" he does or feels must be in balance. This includes acts of vice to balance out his good deeds, acts of penitence or self-punishment to balance out his sins, etc.

Uses terms like Ashla and Bogan. The dark side (Bogan) represents sin/temptation, not "evil" per se.
Everyone has light and dark in them (not just Force sensitives), and must learn to balance them.
Anyone who believes they are wholly light or dark is (dangerously) wrong. Everyone is both.
Anyone can commune with / pray to the Force: just because you don't feel it "reply" doesn't mean it isn't listening.
Force users are "angels", constantly fighting a war of balance - externally, and internally.
Jedi (old and new) are a "threat" to the Force, trying to shackle/limit it with "puritan" beliefs.
Darth Vader was an avenging angel who "freed" the galaxy from the Jedi's puritan oppression.

Plot Ideas

Shady jobs (with the Tenloss Syndicate). Partly for money, partly as acts of vice/violence to keep his Bogan levels topped up.
Drinking. Gambling. Blowing all his creds on whores. Refusing to shave on principle.
Charitable acts. Volunteer work? Things to boost his Ashla and compensate for his "day job".
Knocking on people's doors, asking them to open their hearts to our Force and saviour, etc.
Possibly putting a bullet in Ceto Rübezahl. (For justice... for Alderaan!)

Existing Relationships

Ceto Rübezahl - Former co-star. Resents Ceto's success, especially since he switched careers to politics and was great at that too.
