View Full Version : Valentine's Day Edition: Our favorite character couples

Let's talk about the mushy stuff, you guys.

It's almost Valentine's Day and love is in the air, or vacuum, in a galaxy far far away. Throughout the amazing stories y'all tell, there are conflicts a plenty, but there are also special moments when certain characters find other ones and it becomes serendipity.

Let's discuss the lovebirds. What couples have been your favorites and why? Who makes the best romance? Who are just so into each other that it makes you want to throw up? Who probably needs to get dumped. Let's discuss all things l'amour in our funny little galaxy.

Right off the bat, I have to give a big nod to Karin DeLumiar and Pierce Tondry. Their romance is red-hot, and the only thing that keeps it from boiling over is that those two are such a professional sort that they keep it in check in almost every scene. It's more of a less-is-more sort of thing, where you obviously can tell how much those two care about each other, but they're both such careful people.

D'awwww. Karin and Pierce are busy fighting over who gets the last piece of chocolate pie from the mess hall (spoiler, Karin just shoved the entire thing in her mouth), but if they were here they'd totally thank you.

I always did like the Pierce/Lilaena romance Holly and I had going, even though I keep looking at older stuff I wrote and going "I COULD DO SO MUCH BETTER!" I really hope Pierce and Lilaena meet in reset continuity sometime soon, if for no other reason than to see how well those two get at each other's throats.

s'Il and Dan were/are the best dark romance I've seen in awhile. It's all so twisted and terrible, and yet the masquerade of family just covers it all up.

Halajiin Rabeak needs to get dumped. I know he's not actively dating anyone, this is just pre-emptive. :)

I'm not sure what other romances are going, so I'd be very interested to see other people's comments.

All the 'couples' I like the best are horribly terrible for each other and will ultimately probably end up killing one another. So if anyone is writing that right now, please point me in your direction so I can fangirl over you.

s'Il and Dan, of course. Setting the bar high for the rest of us.

Salem and Lilaena - I know they aren't actually together but still, I love their dysfunctional relationship and all that history they have together. I don't think LD would ever trust him though... :uhoh

Sanya Tagge and Yeart Quenn were going to be the most hateful fun to write as a marriage of necessity among Imperial nobles - but alas, Mara is not here to be the bitchy-ying to my bitchy-yang. The weird dynamic between Sanya, Miranda and Gallus is fun also though!

I like Serena and Sol :) :( - probably my most favorite couple to write for (after LD/Pierce pre-reset)

LD and Salem is still brewing, but I'd like to revisit it.

s'Il and Dan were creepy - which was what you guys were going for, so that was good! :D

I like the tentative almost-relationship between Hal and Ndonsa. Could be something there!

Sanis and Cirr are probably the best bromance in the land though.

This may be a bit self-serving (:p), but I'm gonna go ahead and say the Wyl and Tak are my favorite. As far as two people destined to be together, they're the ones for me.

I love James and Byl, because there's a mesmerizing energy that those two have together. There are layers to each one that are slowly getting peeled away, and yet they both clutch closer to one another for fear of being lost in the torrent unfolding around them. Least, that's how it seems to me.

Nav and Daria are one of those couples that make me want more. I really want to see the behind-the-scenes every day life of those two, and the utter sweetness of each.

I have to admit, that the one thread that was done between Wygraant and his wife was effing intriguing and left me wanting to know more about the guy and what went on beyond his career.

More self-serving incoming;

Dan and s'Il not so much because it's fun (which it is), but because there really is no depth those two will sink to. It's like an exercise into just how despicable two people can be, made even more tragic because one really doesn't care at all, and the other would do absolutely anything to maintain that desperate closeness.

Vega and s'Il because... well you know. There's a connection between those two that is visceral and utterly so primal that you can't look away from. It's a beautiful train wreck.

Regan and Sam are some weird form of 'this really shouldn't work'.

Oh, please. Makin' things that shouldnae work work is literally my damn job. ;)

I'm definitely on the Navaria and Daria bandwagon. I've been loving the Wanderlust (http://theholo.net/forum/showthread.php?56601-Wanderlust) thread that's going on right now. It's such an elegant little concept, and really showcases the fact that they are this sweet couple that just oozes sweetness and shipper feels whenever they coexist in the same thread, regardless of what they're doing.

I'm really enjoying the stuff with T'yeellaa and Dage lately. Like Nav and Daria, they're another couple that has a sort of "real" love and romance, and it's great to see those behind the scenes glimpses of them just going about their lives.

Obviously s'Il/Dan and s'Il/Vega go without saying, not because they're in the spirit of Valentines, but because they're just so damn wrong, and broken. As a fan of s'Ilancy I am so damn glad that your bastard husband is gone, but as a fan of those warped dynamics I am curious to see how/if the two of you fill the void.

As far as selfish self-serving things, I'm really interested to see what happens with Sam and Regan (I'm not sure Tink even understands what it happening :lol), and I'm intrigued by some of the possibilities that are looming with Jaden and Rai. Mostly though, I'm looking forward to Vansen and Taataani (Tytaani?) making some progress. It's been years since Charley propositioned me on the streets of Paris, and I am eager for our bromance to transcend into literary form (Chase 5eva :love).

I miss Glayde/Tur'enne and Vittore/Sadie. Poor broken little people. :(
