So.

I've been remarkably inconsistent and inactive here, and for reasons. For this reason I'll not list all my characters here, but just the ones I've been more active with:

Ben Merasska [Not familiar with him? Try this (http://theholo.net/forum/showthread.php?56414-Showdown-at-Junction), this (http://theholo.net/forum/showthread.php?56056-Float-On), or this (http://theholo.net/forum/showthread.php?55787-The-Passenger)!]

Ben, Ben, Ben, Ben, Ben. (Merasska that is). He's such a feelsy character that it's irresistible to want to be a part of his world, and I've availed myself to that many times. He's more than just the loveable coward trope, because there's so much nuance and history behind the eyes. I almost feel like he's a macguffin, a quest item at times. Everyone wants to get through to him. Heal him. Make him feel loved. And he's so stubbornly resistant to it. He can sure be depressing (and yet funny!), but I think the one thing I'd want to see more of is to have him share a bit of sunshine here and there. Have a genuinely good break go his way, for a little sweet to accentuate the bitter.

Palara I've only had experience with recently, and she's incredibly interesting for the chance to see someone with a pretty strong moral code on the side of the Empire. Her stance against slavery is certainly a good moment to see it in action, and there's the extensive dangerous intimacy that she shares by inhabiting a space with Ben at times. I think I'd like to see a situation in which she has to confront something truly ugly within her own ranks as a Knight, and to see where her moral boundaries may inhabit.

Shuvin is such a great foil to Ben, and she serves a great purpose to punch that saccharine crap out of your mouth when it gets a little too sweet. She's tough, lewd, and still very much a kid. I think that's the part that's interesting is exploring her lost innocence. You've gone into that in the thread with Cerie which was fun to see.

Ben Hadrana is a whole lot of potential energy at this point. To say I have enjoyed the hell out of that thread is an understatement. I'm distinctly curious about how he will interact with Taa O, and I think the wide open setting of that far-off future is a great blank canvas for a couple of kids with crayons to draw on.

Kazahan has so many layers that I'm not sure I've seen them all. He shows this simpleton, this happy-go-lucky guy who delights in little things and seems content in his world. And then you show the depth, the history, and the hidden sadness at your choosing. I haven't interacted with him much, which is truly a shame.

Ben is the guy I want to win no matter what. And yet, I just know that tragedy is the name of his game. It's sad, but it's also so very realistic that I can't be upset or angry. I can certainly be heartbroken, but that's life. You've really captured that essence of reality with him. Nothing grandiose or 'by some trick of fate everything turns out just right'. It's real. There's loss, and there's sadness. Your style when writing him is to the point, but you've got a way of really painting scenes and actions and it's like watching everything play out in my mind's eye.

I know we haven't gotten to Felline and Dage yet, but everything we've talked about so far for those two has got me chomping at the bit to start in on that beautiful friendship.

Atrapes I want to know more of. I want to see his thought processes and what gets him up every morning. I also want to see him in a situation where absolutely nothing goes right. He seems to me to be very unflappable, and I'd like to see him with his feathers ruffled :)

To me, Kazahan is an innocent with the weight of the galaxy on his shoulders. I don't really know how else to explain it. He's not naive, but he's got this charm that is utterly disarming. I'd love to see him and Tak in some real danger, and for her to be able to see him as more than her best friend that got her high for the first time :p

Onashi is guilty fun, I have to admit. Reading him is like vicariously living that lifestyle of being able to say what you want and having the experience to deal with the consequences in spectacular fashion.

Skyrim Kazahan I find to be incredibly intimidating to write against. He's quiet, and when he talks you know you need to listen. We've not gotten far enough along in our telling of Kaz and Tana, but when we get a bit further down the road with them, I'd love to see a glimmer of vulnerability in him.

Ben Merasska: I like Ben, because he's about as real as it gets. The thing I wish he had is an opposite: a Moriarty with an opposing worldview. Maybe a Gladstone Gander to Ben's Donald Duck. I say this because I don't feel Ben ever has anyone to work against on a personal level. Or at least, if he has, I've missed it!

If could (and I hope I can) I want to contribute to Ben's fall in a positive way.

Shuvin Undhi: She really is a perfect foil for Ben. Despite Ben being "in charge" she can still one-up him because she's strong in a lot of his weak places. I love that she doesn't hesitate to embarrass Ben when the mood strikes her. The thing I'd love to see the most is what she does when Ben's not around. (And that could mean what she does in the privacy of her quarters or how she gets herself out of a sticky situation.)

I'd love to see her fly with Sanis, Karin, or some other pilot for a turn, just to counterpoint the relationship she has with Ben.

Palara Iscandar: Palara I feel is an incomplete character, but in a good way (ie there's room to "finish" her). The thing I love most about her so far is her conviction in her own self-righteousness. I want to see that shaken somewhere, just to see what happens.

I feel very pleased that there's some Palara/Pierce on the horizon and am looking forward to that.

Esther Hadrana: I haven't read any of Esther, but given her connection to Ben I want to. I'll try to give you feedback when I get a chance to look her over.
