Yay bandwagon jumping >.>.

So I guess everybody figures I just write very similar girly girls a lot, but I still thought I'd see what people thought of my characters :). I know I haven't been around long and some of these haven't been in many threads so might be largely unknown to a lot of you.

Standard Era:
Minnie Starshine
Scout Ravenwood
Alis'heen'amey

TFA Era:
Alis'ans'amey
Aria

DC (if it counts here):
Stephanie Brown/Batgirl
Supergirl

Well you've already brought up the similarity note, so nothing to say on that. I am kind of curious about their personalities and quirks beyond their similar appearance. I've had the most experience with Scout and Sansa, and I find that I'm warming to the characters the more I see them in contested situations that don't just dirty them up a bit, but show me who they are.

Scout has been a great foil for Draiya thusfar, and I think she contrasts nicely with the Syragori tomboy not only in their appearance, but her style. She's insightful, and the play between them and their master has helped me to want to apply the dynamic to help improve Draiya.

I've only barely started interacting with Sansa, and while we've really only started one mission, you can see that she's got innate talent and competency.

Really, what I'm starved for in these characters is the opportunity to see more. The fashion aesthetics are a good introduction, but I want to also see the why in it. What's their story that's brought them to this place, and do they present themselves this way for a reason?

Thank you for the honest feedback :). Unfortunately, my threads are moving a little slow/I'm not in that many so there's a lot of character still to be revealed.

I do promise you there is more depth to my characters than appears. And they're actually more different from each other than they seem on the surface. Each of them use their fashion as a bit of a shield to who they really are, but all for different reasons. Minnie is blindingly shallow and vain, but that's part of the fun with her. She's clueless, and mostly a character for chaotic fun. But by being 'shallow' she has depth, because it's very consciously written that she's a person who is very shallow and ignorant to the bigger picture, and provided she gets the right storyline, that will play in to things.

Scout's fashion obsession is a comfort blanket. She's very good hearted but also incredibly innocent and coddled. So she retreats in to what she knows for protection. For me, Scout's over-riding factor is less her 'girliness' and more her refusal to fight. Scout is simply a very non-violent person living in a violent universe. That's more the angle I want to play up. I am absolutely loving writing her with Draiya, by the way :).

Sansa is daughter of my first ever super girly character from another board (and what inspired me to do this here with Minnie, and then Scout after Minnie didn't really take off), hence why she's like that. For her, I wanted to start a character in a bad place, where they're not that likeable, and put them on a journey. So whereas I hope Scout is kind of adorable with her pink obsession and cute sensibilities, Sansa is supposed to be an insufferable diva. She's got skills, but also a horrible attitude. I wanted a character who could grow and become a hero, instead of starting off as one, and that's what I hope I have with her.

Minnie is a breath of fresh air. The way that she behaves is in some ways expected, but there are other things she does that really catch me unawares. I truly enjoy reading her stuff, and I hope that we can continue to delve more into her budding adventure with Rruko. I see so much potential in her, and the limits of what you can do with her are pretty much nonexistent IMO.

Scout is fantastic, and how she deals with Teagan in vornskr form is priceless. It makes me excited to see how she'll react when Teagan finally lets the cat out of the bag and comes clean. There's a lot of room for growth with her, and I'm keen to see how you go about that.

What I've read of your Sansa stuff I'm loving so far. You really get a feel that she's a competent pilot with a blindingly glossy exterior, and I can't wait to see what she does when a bit of scuff shows up on her perfectly manicured appearance :)

I'm waiting to see more of Alis but what I've seen so far has been very interesting.

I've only read Scout's pieces, but I do like the obsession with pink. That's something pretty unique because I'm not sure other characters have ever done an obsession with a color before. That's a compliment because it shows something different about the character.

I really enjoy Stephanie Brown/Spoiler/Batgirl. She's a goofball and in over her head, but she makes up for her shortcomings with a lot of heart. I am looking forward to beginning/continuing that relationship between her and Barbara. I think Supergirl is a great character and you're able to capture a lot of her problems dealing with being on an 'alien' world. I loved her interaction with Wally and am wanting to read more of them hanging out as superfriends!

Your SW characters do seem a lot alike, but I can appreciate that the similarities are superficial (haha, like them! ;) j/k) and that there's more to know about these girly characters. I guess just keep writing! I am really enjoying the interplay between old Ndonsa and Aria. I guess just try not to make them too unlikable/bratty, because then it's hard to fathom people keeping them around, no matter how talented they are? Tease out those hidden depths, make the reader like them (I do like them, btw) even if the other characters can only see the outside.

Like I can see how overcompensating with fashion or perfume is just another way of hiding yourself behind a facade. People may judge the outside but that's ok because you're more than that and they can't judge the real you because you've hidden it. ? So write more because I think you're talented and you're onto something, and I want to see these characters differentiate beyond the obvious similarities. :D
