"Young Han Solo" potentials list

Apparently we are getting ever closer to finding out who will be playing the young Han Solo, in the origin movie.


[...] Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Dave Franco, Transformers: Age of Extinction's Jack Reynor, Scott Eastwood, Logan Lerman, Brooklyn’s Emory Cohen, and Everybody Wants Some’s Blake Jenner.

Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller won’t begin shooting the movie until a year from now (January of 2017), but Variety’s sources indicate that they’re going to make a casting decision in the next couple of weeks.

Do we know when the Han Solo movie is supposed to be taking place?

Keeping it within that Star Wars Rebels / Rogue One sort of era makes a certain amount of sense, but it means Han is going to be very close to his A New Hope age. If I were casting someone to play a young Han Solo, I'd want to have him be as young as feasibly possible, to smooth over some of the "well clearly that's not the same actor" stuff.

Kinda like the Star Trek reboot being eight years before the Original Series. Give yourself a bit of wiggle room, etc.

Well yeah, pre-ANH kinda goes without saying, otherwise it wouldn't really be a "young" Han Solo movie. ;)

Focusing on how he became a smuggler though... so it's probably pre-Rebels as well I would guess? Lando doesn't seem to have the Falcon in his Rebels appearances, so presumably Han is already an active smuggler and has already won it in a card game by then.
