Charley and I skipped on out this afternoon for lunch and a bit of a treat: the Lego Americana Roadshow!
After a delicious bit of Chinese, we headed over to the Riverchase Galleria; one of a limited few malls showcasing this bit of amazing brickbuilding. The roadshow here goes until September 7th, then is in the Northpoint Mall in Alpharetta, GA from September 19th to October 4th, and finally in the Christiana Mall in Newark, DE from October 17 to November 1st. So if anyone in those areas wants to check it out and is able to, definitely go! The amount of craftsmanship is pretty damn stellar for the Lego medium.
After we finished our tour, we wandered into the Lego store in the afterglow of awesome Lego-viewing bliss. And wouldn't you know; there were more than a few people who had the same idea as we did, heh. I asked the greeter guy how much foot-traffic had picked up, and he gave me a pretty knowing look. Either way, Charley's insistence on doing something monetarily foolhardy while in the Lego store was met with initial resistance by yours truly, but I ended up caving and bought three Star Wars Lego miniatures sets; the snowspeeder, AT-AT, and the Republic Gunship. So there it was, the culmination of our adult recklessness in the Lego store to the tune of 30 bucks. Amazing how much having a mortgage curbs your spending :p
But!
Bemoaning my sad state of inabilities in the Lego-purchasing department isn't why I made this thread! I made this thread to show photos of our trip through Lego Americana ^_^
So here you go, starting with:
The Capitol Building
This thing was enormous, to say the least.
