(Anar/Hesith here.)
Once long ago on this very board I used this profile to create the character of a former Imperial Intelligence officer who had, for reasons I did not have a chance to elaborate upon, gone into business for himself. I had considerable fun but did not get terribly far with it and then got sidetracked into politics. (It's the classic tale. Boy has ideals, boy becomes man who is a bit shady, man gets led astray by the promise of the power to set business rates and tinker with parking charges on Coruscant.)
While I ponder the problem of how to make use of my other characters (who are so close to the top of their respective trees that immediate movement seems a bit difficult to achieve) I would like to begin a more conventional, almost archetypal, SW roleplay using a version of that character.
It'll begin in a bar where a traveller wants to find passage on a ship and, via Imperial entanglements and a daring raid, end with an escape by the skin of the teeth. There is certain to be peril and wry humour and some manner of reward.
Would anyone care to join me in this?

I'm in, I have a ship and take passengers sometimes. :)

"Definitely not. I can only barely escape from the Imperials or Alliance so many times before I can tell a pattern's forming. And you know what that pattern is? It's bad luck is what it is. Plain and simple. So nope. No way. No thank you. Nyet. Nein. Iie. No."
"..."
"This is not the time to be telling me that we need stuff. Stuff that money can buy."
"..."
"...Is there a chance I can make some money in this little venture?"

:eee Friends to play with!
There is definitely money to be had.
What I have noddled around with is Brask showing up on a spacestation in Imperial space looking a bit lost having missed a connection and looking for a lift to his destination. In a bar he finds someone who takes pity on/decides to make a few credits out of/sets out to fleece [delete as appropriate] this seemingly harmless traveller and sets out with them.
The trip is one with a couple of legs to it. For most of the first leg all seems well and then, just before the exit from hyperspace, Brask enters the cockpit to make an unexpected announcement. Cue pandamonium!
Since both parties (Arya and Jaassuuvi on the one hand and Ben on the other) who have volunteered their services appear to be in possession of ships, would it be appropriate for one party to be in a situation where they tag along to make a quick buck while between trips? Unless someone fancies claiming a prior connection with an ex-agent/law enforcement type turned a bit bad?

Well, Arya and Jaas don't actually know Ben, so that gets tricky. I dunno!

Ben how would you feel about being found in Imperial custody in Act II? You wouldn't *necessarily* have to have done something wrong to be there. You could simply have been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Which might actually be par for your particular golf course.

I seem to remember a job where a guy named Sarin paid me to be the getaway driver for a certain prison bust. I don't really do jobs for Sarin anymore.
And Brask, it really completely totally is par for my particular golf course. Unless par, and golf course mean something completely different than what I think they mean.

Nope, I think we have much the same understanding of golf metaphors. May I take your response as a (tentative) "yes" to being found in custody in Act II? If so, do let me know and I shall PM you some details so you and I can spring a delightful surprise on Brask's travelling companions.
Arya, Jaas (may I be so familiar?) I shall see you in a bar very soon I hope. Perhaps not one in which you would normally be found but it'll be a bar nonetheless.

Oh would you look at that. I appear to have found a bar (http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?55739-Just-running-an-errand-(Arya-Jaas-and-Ben)). What AMAZING good fortune!

Being in custody is a recurring theme for me. For some reason people and governments feel it necessary to arrest me when I'm carrying contraband in their space.
Sure. Lessee this surpise !

Huzzah! This going to be fun in a semi-disasterous way. Brask has come looking for steady, mostly law-abiding companions who aren't going to attract Imperial attention and he'll have found...well...you three.

Right Ben and I have scheme a scheme of sorts. He'll make his entrance in due course. Meantime, Jaas or Arya can make their first appearances.

I feel that now be a good time for a cut away to show what Ben is up to. I shall write something to get that started in due course.

Sounds good - I made a post but with the change of scene in mind so it should still flow pretty good. :)

Brask's little errand is becoming more complicated by the minute. Now there are four people who'll be along for the ride. Such fun!

Now...shall we jump back to the space station and let our next sight of Ben and Shuvin be in a cell?
Brask
Feb 22nd, 2015, 02:27:30 PM
Actually, scratch that. I need to re-work my post. I've just realised I have done Ben the discourtesy of not using the ammo he provided me with. *beats self over head*
Brask
Feb 23rd, 2015, 02:27:20 AM
Actually scratch that "scratch that" and replace it with a different one! We just need a couple more posts to fully use the ammo. Let's find out what is in that hidey hole shall we?

I've had a pantstastic (not in a good way) few weeks hence my silence. Ben and I have agreed we should move back to Corellia to catch up with the gang. This is style out the fact that I rather backed the story into a corner by not giving Ben an opening to move us forward with the inspection bit. Shall post by Friday to get us going again.

Yeah I should probably have mentioned that it was ready for someone else instead of assuming y'all are mindreaders.

Does the ship have a smuggling compartment big enough for Arya to hide in? (I should have asked this sooner. Beats self.)

It does. Do I have to hide myself?- says arya?

I reckon there are two posts I can write at this point. Post One will lead to several more to unfold and reveal Brask's plan. Post Two would be a two parter ending the scene in the cockpit and then jumping us on to a point further into the plan (i.e. After Brask has put the plan into action. Which do you prefer?
Arya Ravenwing
May 9th, 2015, 12:28:02 PM
Either way, in order to follow along we sort of need to know the plan. Unless he doesn't have time to explain and we're just bumbling along beside him. "A point further into the plan" is pretty vague and I don't know if you mean five minutes from now or the next day. :) So I guess the first option would be my preference.

Makes sense.
The bundle is a standard issue Imperial tech coverall and cap. The bag's about 20kg.

How I love the unexpected in roleplaying. Thanks Jaas!
Am I right in figuring that what has just happened would result in both Brask and Jaas being stunned? Would it be appropriate to jump to one or other of them waking up in a cell?

I've posted setting it up for Ben to appear in his cell and then have a sore headed Jaas thrown in with him. Unless someone fancies taking us in a different direction of course.

Waiting on an appropriate segue. It wouldn't really do if Ben's post were just "Ben sits and twiddles his thumbs and oh no is he going to get tortured? Ben is all alone."
Lilaena De'Ville
Oct 14th, 2015, 09:49:19 PM
I figured you'd be more like "Ben sat up after spending time twiddling his thumbs and looked on in fear/shock as a very large and very angry Cizerack was thrown into his cell"
Brask
Oct 15th, 2015, 01:23:50 AM
I'm sorry Ben. I didn't realise!
I've put something in that I hope sets you up. Ben can muse for a bit on his misfortunes and then I'll have a couple of guards drop by with Jaas in tow.
