So yeah im alive, just being musical and junk....

I have been tossing around an idea in messages and wanted to throw it out to see what people thought. Ok, to set this up.

There is a secret black site fleet yard in wild space where a top secret ship is being built. Admiral Reshmar in conjunction with a handful of individuals designed a vessel which could stand up to a super star destroyer. Basically it is the Mediator battle-cruiser from vector prime. The designing and construction began just before the formation of the alliance and the money which was moved around to build it is now coming back to bite Reshmar and the Fleet in the behind. The convoluted system of financing this is made up of a few falsified contracts for things that do not exist, largest of which is a new MC90 star cruiser codenamed "Leviathan" which doesn't exist.

Before the formation of the alliance, Reshmar and the fleet had alot more room to set up and carry out this type of thing seeing as it was for the war machine. People who may have known or found out looked the other way as these things were needed to fight the Empire. Now not so much.

As the senate settles in and begins normal meetings and operations so to say, the money trail will surely show up. Most of all, the most expensive vessels ever designed not being where it is supposed to be. An MC 90 cost as much to build as 3 Imperial Star Destroyers which is basically 5 Republic star destroyers or Endurance carriers.. So thus begins the dance that is politics that Reshmars hates so an he must find a way to finish the ship and keep himself in a job as he struggles to convince the senate "oh hey guys its just an up-gunned MC 90" trying to keep the true nature of the ship secret.

With the new fleet design ideals shifting to smaller advanced carriers and escorts relying on fighters a 8km ship built to stand up to star dreadnoughts just doesn't make sense to those of the new mind of the fleet. Peace seems like it will last and lets face it you hippy peace mongers in senate haven't the first clue as to how fleets fight or warships work. :P All it would take is for a super star destroyer to jump into Bothawui space and its OV. bye bye furry annoying spys.... The truth is we still stand zero chance of fighting the empire in a conventional battle. Yes yes we win battles but we have never beat a super. Not since Endor and that was a fluke. I know this because I think I am the only person on the board who has taken one on in the last 10 years. I miss Telan.... lol

But that's the rundown on my glorious vision I have for Reshmar taking on the senate. sure The ship can never be used in a story.. we know that, and hey it will never be finished, that's understood. But isn't it a fun idea. I think Resh needs to spend some time flexing his new political muscle.

Idea is a few key people know of the ship and its true size, power and location. Namely Reshmar, the Chief of State, Finance Minister, Supply ministers, and Fleet Chief of staff. As well as a very few others. Somehow a senator finds something not making sense or a sub committee finds a ship that doesn't exist, and we go from there.

So all you senator types out there ... Ideas?

I am working on starting a thread that will provide a good opening for the Senate to find out about this. I shall be outlining the plan elsewhere later this weekend.

Just a quick thought regarding "sure the ship can never be used in a story".

We had the rule about not allowing player-controlled Super Star Destroyers (except in special cases) for a whole bunch of very good reasons. We're in a very different environment nowadays, though. Our style of writing, and what we focus on in our storytelling is very different. We've always acknowledged that the Empire had Super Star Destroyers that were just "off camera", but now the Alliance is supposed to be equal(ish) to the Empire to force this stalemate, and with the Alliance especially we have much more focus on Senators, Ministers, Admirals, and the kinds of people who would have big ships like that; more so than the Empire, that's for sure.

Perhaps it's worth tweaking that rule a little bit, to fit with our modern take on things. We want to prevent Super Star Destroyers from showing up and spoiling fleeting type threads - so maybe that's all we need to ban them from? I don't think there'd be any harm in, for example, Admiral Reshmar or Rossos Atrapes having big ships like that as long as they aren't using them unfairly.

Oh, and of course, my cadre of politicians are entirely at your disposal, Resh. :)

If what I am proposing at http://sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?55719-How-a-law-is-made-(Senators-and-other-Alliance-types) goes ahead I think we can work in a starting point for an investigation that would lead to the revelation of this ship. While working to put together the money to fund the law, someone is bound to check over the accounts submitted by the military and it is entirely conceivable that someone will notice that something is amiss. Someone else might then take this further and follow the money.
