After watching Gotham for a few weeks, I have a hankering to do more crime stuff.

There's already a lot of crime on Cloud City. We've got Sanis Prent and Black Sun, who are very organised and insidious. We've got the Hutt, Ambassador Wrath, who is a bit of a Lex Luthor: legitimate businessman, but he doesn't see any problems with doing something immoral/illegal to help stuff along. We've got Emelie Shadowstar, who is setting herself up with a Shadowbroker style network of smugglers and informants: if you want it (information, illegal stuff, a specific person), she and her people will "acquire" it for you. We've also got some big corporations in the mix, and Santhe/Sienar Technologies in particular (the TIE Fighter people) are pretty shady and unethical in their business practices.

What we don't have is the kind of precarious crime alliance that Gotham has so much of. Black Sun has a very structured hierarchy, and the other groups are very clear about who is in charge. The Tenloss Syndicate however is absolutely nothing like that. It's an alliance of gangs, pirates, spice dealers, loan sharks, illegal arms dealers (and manufacturers), and legitimate(ish) businesses that work cooperatively(ish) to help each other out. Instead of one unified organisation, it's a bunch of crime bosses sitting around a table, taking orders from the one guy who can make pencils disappear or really really likes blondes who can sing arias in Italian.

As an added bonus, they're mostly based in P17 and P18 on the galaxy map: so while they definitely have a presence on Cloud City, there's also a lot of scope for them to be active in the Alliance as well, which the other crime groups aren't (in character, as yet) doing.

I don't have a super-specific idea as yet: just wanting to see if there's someone out there with a hankering for Star Wars versions of Penguin or Fish Moony or something. :mischief

Some stuff I found on Wookieepedia that might be cool / spark some ideas:

Kendamari Casinos (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Kendamari_Casinos) is a front for the Tenloss Syndicate, which is based in the Lol Sector (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lol_sector). Owning a casino on Cloud City is pretty much a prerequisite of being a Bespin crime lord it seems, so if any aspects of the Tenloss Syndicate are on Cloud City, this is probably one of them. Trest (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Trest) is a big, swanky, come-one come-all Vegas style casino (quite a contrast to the Black Sun casino, Cumulus, which is very up-market); which even has a shady back room (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Ecclessis_Figg_Room) which is clearly a mafia meeting place if ever I saw one.

Galindas Exports (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Galindas_Exports) and Ororo Transportation (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Ororo_Transportation) (sadly is not a front for the X-Men) are involved in shipping, smuggling, or fencing. There are actually a fair few shipping companies on Cloud City already: Black Sun, Santhe Corporation, Emelie Shadowstar, and even the local Grand Moff all have transports working for them. What might make this duo special/interesting is that, because they are based in Alliance Space, they may be one of the few shipping companies allowed to cross the border; and could do so carrying anything from exotic items and refugees to illegal cargo and spies.

Subpro Corporation (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Subpro) helped the Incom Corporation design the Z-95 Headhunter and the ARC-170. The prototype of the Z-95 was built at the Bahalian Shipyards (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Bahalian_Shipyards), which is one of the Tenloss Syndicate's front companies. What's especially cool though is that Subpro was set up by Trandoshans, and Trandoshans are in a pretty dubious position right now, what with the whole mass enslavement of Wookiees thing and all. A Trandoshan crime boss within the Tenloss Syndicate might be secretly involved in the slave trade as well (something the other crime groups don't seem do all that much?), and they could even be involved in Alliance politics, as an example of a "respectable" Trandoshan in charge of a well known "legitimate" business, who is trying to advocate better treatment / more freedoms for his people.

Relekin Confidential (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Relekin_Confidential) and Lucross Collections (starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lucross_Collections) are loan sharks and collections agents. With Cloud City becoming the hub for a new Corporate Sector type dealio, odds are there are going to be a lot of spacers, smugglers, and small businesses looking for quick loans. Ambassador Wrath does small business loans and has himself a Besalisk for an enforcer (he can break both your kneecaps while scratching his butt and eating a sandwich at the same time), and I'm sure Black Sun probably does that as well, so potentially we could end up with a little bit of "loan shark wars". For gits and shiggles, it might be cool to have a loan shark who is one of these guys (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Karkarodon).

Lucin Syndicate (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lucin_Syndicate) makes illegal holoporn. Not just regular porn: illegal porn. In a universe where chaining scantily clad women to slimy great space slugs is considered the sort of thing it's a-okay in polite society, that shit must be real nasty. If you fancy getting involved in slave trafficking, but don't like the idea of being a Trandoshan and/or affiliated with Subpro, this might be a different potential angle: not just a porn mogul, but a slaver and a pimp, maybe.
