Here is a thread for possible rule changes regarding how we accept new players and characters to the boards.

Existing rules (enforced or not): Everyone starts at the bottom when it comes to being a Force user, unless you are a player who has been around since before the Reset and had previously earned a specific rank (rolled it into a new character), or if you are bringing a character over from another RPing board which means you ask the Staff and they approve you on a case by case basis.

Has something prompted this discussion?

I'm in favor of some guidelines that help to provide a structure but don't lock people into rigid roles. I've seen boards that specifically delimit the numbers of Force powers you can have at each rank, and what order you have to acquire them in, which takes a lot of the individuality out of character development. Also, people with Padawan characters on this board have run into the problem of not having enough authority to go adventuring away from the Jedi camp on their own.
I suggest something like this:
"On TheHolo.net, we don't care about experience points or skill points or enemies killed. We're more interested in telling a good yarn. That means character development over the long haul. We strongly recommend that newcomers to the Jedi Order start off with a Padawan or low-level knight so you can get a feel for our story universe while you grow your character. Start small, build relationships with other characters, go on some missions - building a character gradually can be immensely satisfying! Take a look at the Jedi Mission Holocron (http://theholo.net/forum/showthread.php?55430-Jedi-Mission-Holocron) for examples of the sorts of adventures you can have as part of the Jedi Order."

I am trying to figure out what to put in a sticky thread in the Ossus forum as far as how a newbie can get started as a Jedi, and in talking to some people this discussion was prompted, yes.
I am thinking something like the sticky threads we have for WoD and MU, with perhaps a "post your character bio here (thread link to RPing OOC bio thread)" at the bottom.

I'm going to go with this suggestion as it sounds good to me and no one else has an opinion! :)

I'm just going to do my own thing and if anyone has issue they can take it up with me as and when the need arises.
