On TheHolo.net, we don't care about experience points or skill points or enemies killed. We're more interested in telling a good yarn. That means character development over the long haul. We strongly recommend that newcomers to the Jedi Order start off with a Padawan or low-level knight so you can get a feel for our story universe while you grow your character. Start small, build relationships with other characters, go on some missions - building a character gradually can be immensely satisfying! Take a look at the Jedi Mission Holocron (http://theholo.net/forum/showthread.php?55430-Jedi-Mission-Holocron) for examples of the sorts of adventures you can have as part of the Jedi Order.

HOWEVER, this is not necessary. You may begin with a Knight or Master, if your backstory makes sense. Also, if you have an established Knight or Master from another board that you wish to bring over to TheHolo.Net that is perfectly fine. Just make your backstory fit our board's timeline.

To get started, please head to the the Character Plotters (http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?669-Character-Plotters) forum and create a plotter for your character! You should also join the Jedi Order discussion group (http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/group.php?cat=2).

Promotions
If you feel that your character is ready to become a Jedi Knight (or a Master), go to your training master or in the absence of your master to the Jedi Council or Faction Leaders. Once we know you feel your character is ready for promotion, we will come to an agreement on when that will happen. If your padawan has fallen through the cracks and doesn't have a lot of training or mission threads (which unfortunately can happen if a master goes MIA for an extended period of time), we may ask for you to do a promotion RP where your character shows they are capable of their new rank.

Your training master and the Council will also try to keep tabs on padawans and knights and hand out promotions as they see fit, but we do not always keep up on everything that you have been doing. Coming to us is perfectly acceptable.

You can promote yourself whenever you feel it is time. If you have a Master who is a PC, rather than an NPC, it would be appropriate to discuss it with them.

PM Serena Laran (http://theholo.net/forum/private.php?do=newpm&u=2833) or Zem Vymes (http://theholo.net/forum/private.php?do=newpm&u=2937) if you have questions about anything!

The Jedi order
Birthed out of the ashes of the Battle of Endor, the new Jedi Order was spawned from the efforts of the Jedi Purge's survivors. Now, those who dared to resurge in the fall of Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader and Alliance heroes Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa and Han Solo take up the mantle as the Jedi Council.

Before, they were simply a rag-tag crew of Force Sensitive hopefuls, former Padawans and exiled Knights on a ship called the Wheel, but they've settled on the ancient grounds of the Jedi Order on Ossus and redeveloped a fledging Order & settlement to beacon initiates and non-Jedi alike at their enclave.

Much time has passed since the Whaladon first landed and the Jedi explored the libaries, fought against dark foes in an epic battle against Darth Decepis, and the Cold War began. The settlement has evolved from an outpost, to a village and now more a town or fledging city. There is much to see as this new order continues to piece together order in the cultural and moral wreckage still echoing from the Great Jedi Purge and Clone Wars.

Crew & Location

Here we've gathered a few NPC scientists or Jedi, as well as some location descriptions. As far as a building, it's probably prefab or a reinforced high tech tent (the medical pavillion is one of those). If you've invented an NPC or seen one used, post it here so we can have a reference list.

People

Arlan Solborne - Botanist and professional pain in the arse [here (http://sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?23303-Growing-Pains-9-367)], [here (http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?23348-Wild-Creatures-10-015&p=401898&viewfull=1#post401898)] and [here (http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?23362-Making-a-Connection&p=402033&viewfull=1#post402033)] {picture (http://mimg.ugo.com/201108/2/3/9/204932/cuts/doc-cottle_480_poster.jpg)}

He has a hydroponics garden and lab [weather proofed, high-tech tent], spends time teaching padawans about plants when not discovering new uses for the native plant life of Ossus

Lieutenant Farsi - man in charge from the Alliance Corps of Engineers, Tevit's nemesis. He is Shistavanen (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Shistavanen).

Locations

Medical Pavillion [here (http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?23359-A-Cage-of-Silver-and-of-Sky&p=401964&viewfull=1#post401964)]

<strike>The medical facilities on Ossus were better than they had had in the Wheel convoy, if only because everything and everyone was in one place, instead of scattered throughout several different ships. They didn't have proper walls yet, but a large pavilion that had been sprayed with an insulating plastic. It was strong enough to lean against, kept out the bugs and wind, but it wasn't precisely sterile or permanent. A prefab medical building is under construction, but for now the pavilion would do. Inside there were sterile operating rooms created with inflatable plastic rooms and various venting systems, clumped in the middle of the tent like glowing cubes. Blessedly they were, at the moment, unoccupied. Examination rooms were separated from each other by curtains, strung on criss-crossing wires set at about seven feet off the ground. And the ground, of course, had been sealed off completely with a quick drying and self-leveling compound. It was thick but clear, leaving the illusion that one was floating above native grasses and the occasional wildflower.</strike> With the completion and opening of the new Medical
Building/Hospit this will have been taken down or repurposed

Dormitories
Two prefab buildings, two stories tall, with dorm rooms. Older padawans/Jedi have their own rooms, younglings and young padawans are housed two to a room. The doors are swooshy. The second dorm building mostly houses the construction crew members, stacked in four to a room. Refreshers are shared.

Miwù Shanmà
Located about four kilometers from the Jedi Camp up some hardscrabble mountain foothills. It is the settlement founded by Tell Cho to consolidate the Gossam diaspora. In similar state of construction to the Jedi camp, but with more excavation into mountainsides for accommodation. Mentioned here (http://sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?55395-With-Friends-Like-These) and here (http://sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?55363-A-Place-to-Lay-Our-Heads).

Anbira's hermitage
It consists of two acres of farmed plot that's nestled by a ridge to one side and by a small stream to the other side. On the far side from the Jedi Camp there are a stand of trees. One of which is older and sets apart from the other trees. This is where Anbira has set his equipment chest, and where he sleeps. Mentioned here (http://sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?55365-Aquila-Furtiva-%28Loki%29) and here (http://sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?55340-Agricola-est-in-Silva).

Zem's tent
fairly large tent divided into two rooms. One holds a table for receiving guests and discussing matters of the camp. The other is a smaller partition that serves as a sleeping and eating quarters. Mentioned here (http://sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?55365-Aquila-Furtiva-%28Loki%29).

Crystal Lounge
Has become a happening place for those in the Alliance, Cizerak and Jedi Order to powow and drink in merry. Other shenenagians have since began to flock to these parts as the settlement has expanded into more of than just an outpost or village.

Cizeri quarter
A plot of land adjacent to the Jedi camp in which a Cizerack C-9979 landing barge (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/C-9979_landing_craft) and other shuttlecraft have deployed from the galleon Haifa'Iro'Iro and set up a cordon. There is a lot of vehicle traffic and construction here, as numerous prefabricated quarters and other buildings are being constructed. Five hundred Cizeri Jaanni'saari are stationed within the cordon to act as a labor force to aid in construction and humanitarian projects. Mentioned here (http://sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?55395-With-Friends-Like-These).

The Whaladon
Now that the settlemtn has become grounded in a fully fledging town or small city, some of the Whaladon has been repurposed as a training quarters and classrooms for Jedi initiates, younglings and Padawans. This is mentioned here (https://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?57208-Peace-amp-Krayt-Dragons-Anbira&p=1053533&viewfull=1#post1053533).

Draft map. Scattered between the Whaladon and the settlement proper are the remnants of the Jedi tent camp. The buildings and roads in grey are under construction.

The Jedi dorms and at least one of the civilian apartment buildings are composed of Compact, Low-Cost, Living Quarters, generally referred to as "cells". The 4m x 4m x 3m standard-size modules can be deployed individually or can be connected to each other. The CLL is configured to provided sleeping, cooking, and bathing facilities for a single human-sized individual. Large-sized CLL modules are 50% larger and are configured for larger species. All CLL modules feature powered pocket door that go "whoosh".
Each CLL includes integrated water, HVAC, and power systems that are fully functional once attached to an outside source. With a proper foundation, the CLLs can be stacked up to 5 levels high. The water, HVAC, and power systems in large groups can be regulated with utility modules. While exterior finishing attachments are available to give the finished building a more pleasing appearance, these are rarely used and the CLL structures are generally an eyesore.

Background Art

One thing that would help me is to get a visual on the sort of landscape we're inhabiting. Wookieepedia doesn't go into a lot of detail, but it describes a lush world that was blasted into an irradiated ball of rock by the Cron Supernova some four thousand years ago, and that is only now returning to its former glory. The primary terrains listed are hills, mountains, gorges, forests, and caves.

Are these temperate forests? Steamy jungles? Arid but hardy woodlands? Is the soil rich and loamy, or tough and claylike, or dry and sandy? Is the rock grayish, brownish, or reddish?

When I put deserts, mountains, and forests together in my head, what I end up with is something like Zion National Park in Utah:

2675
2676

Is that at all on the right track, or are we looking at something more like the Pacific Northwest?

EDIT: A more temperate but no less dramatic possibility would be Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in southeast China:
2677

News

Hey, everybody, Tevit Ramastan, here. You've probably seen me around the site on Ossus, working as foreman for the non-Cizerack builds and upgrades. I know things have been really hectic, and life in the complex hasn't been as luxurious as some of you may have been used to, or would like it to be.

Well, good news. I put in for a grant from the Alliance to give you a place for everyone to come, hang out, relax and generally have a good time, and... I got approved. So, we're breaking ground on something I hope you'll all like: a genral hangout spot.

Currently, the designed and planned elements are a general lounge, with an attached bar, as well as a couple cafe stations. We're trying to see if we can get the sandwich guy moved inside to set up shop, and we'll be seeing about some more variety of food from some other pop-up cafe stations. The pool table the construction team use is staying where it is, but I'm seeing about getting another, as well as some dart boards and other entertainment, plus a little something I've been holding out for for a long time:

A bowling alley.

That's right, six lanes of the galaxy's greatest ten-pin sport are coming to Ossus, genuine Nehantite manufacuring, with automatic pin-setters, scoring computers and ball returns.

Not that anyone could want more than that, but, if there's something you'd like to see added to that lot, please let me know in this forum, and I'll see if I can swing the budget and manpower.

Hope you like it; you've put up with all our construction for so long, it's time you got to enjoy yourselves.

Thanks,
Tevit Ramastan
