*thwaps the idiot pilot* Out of my thread, wench!

How do you like being on Ossus?

Are you on Ossus?I adore Ossus! There's water everywhere! Granted, we're only close to a couple of rivers and some small freshwater lakes, but still! It's heaven compared to living aboard a ship! I spend all my free time over in the lakes. One is particularly deep and comfortable...I may never leave it! Tempted to set up a mailbox at the edge and a table and chairs in the shade of the massive trees.

How do a nautolan and a human...uh...well....YOU KNOW*laughs* Honestly, the important bits line up just fine...they just...look a little different, is all. If you're interested in trying a Nautolan on for size, Mrs. Meorrrei, I do have several very handsome cousins...

Not to be insensitive, but... How exactly did your brother get inside your head? And how is there room for him in there? Was there a part of your brain you just weren't using very often? Can you shut him up when you want to? Can you keep him from seeing everything you see?

Gee thanks, furball :p

It's...complicated..and a bit of an involved story.

We always had an amazing bond, being twins, but it was even more intense because we were both Force-sensitive. Almost on par with a life-bond, I think. We were constantly in each other's heads when he was alive...had to work at keeping each other out. It's why I'm so good at mental shielding...I've had years of practice. Even through shielding, he was always this little, warm, fuzzy spot at the back of my mind.

So...when he and my father were killed covering my escape - ok, minor aside here, I did NOT leave by choice...my father was a powerful Jedi Master who's abilities were mostly empathic in nature. Rin and I both...but Rin...we felt our father die through the Force, and that was painful. Almost stunned us to some degree. They caught up to us, cornered us on a cliff. There were so many of them. We fought like hell, but one of the bastards had solid rounds. Some of them got through and lodged in my chest. I couldn't hold my shields and I distracted Rin with how much pain I was in. So much so that he didn't even realize he'd been riddled with the same solid rounds for a few seconds.

I know I was screaming...mentally and physically, because some of the storm troopers buckled to their knees. One of them recovered enough to hit me with the butt of his rifle and send me over the edge of the cliff. Rin...they just shot him repeatedly, at point-blank range, until he stopped moving. But he was still in my head, begging me not to leave him, so I...clung to him? I guess that's the best way to put it. Held on for all I was worth, mentally-speaking, until I slammed into the water and blacked out.

Woke up a week later, under the care of my Aunt Selu, and there Rin was. A fixture in the back of my mind, because in a selfish panic, I couldn't let him go on into the Force.

Kala, that's not-

Yes, it is. Now put a sock in it.

Where was I? Oh. Right. Part two of your question. Yes, actually, I can block him out. Same type of shielding I mentioned earlier that dulled our connection? I can slam those shields up full force and...block...no, lock...umm...like I'm putting him in a leak-proof box, if you will. So I can have some measure of privacy. Let me tell you, I learned that quickly, because when the disembodied spirit of your twin that's living in your head is more interested in your partner than you are, it's not good. At. All. Just take my word for it.

I don't do it often though...it's comforting to have him there. I've always got company, even though people think I'm really frelling strange because it always looks like I'm walking around talking to myself or randomly laughing in the middle of a stretch of silence.

*blinks*

Anyway. That's the best I can describe it.

Your eyes are black... do you have any extra powers of perception, or do they just look cool?

You've described Kala as having both hair and head-tresses (those tentacle things Nautolans have coming out of the back of their heads). I've never quite been able to picture how that works. Are the tresses mostly hidden by her hair and just poke out underneath around her neck? Are they mixed in like dreadlocks? What does she do when she needs a haircut? (ouch!)

Your eyes are black... do you have any extra powers of perception, or do they just look cool?Actually, they are more than just cool. My night vision is pretty damn good because my eyes are suited perfectly for seeing underwater at depths where little or no light penetrates. That's also why on a full-blooded Nautolan their eyes are considerably larger than a human eyes. Because I'm only half Nautolan, my eyes aren't quite as amazing as some of my relatives' are. Still...they're pretty awesome :)

Yay! :) Thank you for that :)

I've always envisioned Kala's head-tresses as mixed in like dreadlocks. The silvery skin of them perfectly visible amidst the blonde of her hair. You know, I thought about dealing with haircuts and then promptly decided that her hair doesn't grow longer than her tresses. Otherwise, I can't imagine the excruciating pain, considering they are sensitive, sensory organs! *cringes*
