It's been a while, but I've warmed up Photoshop and my new Bamboo tablet to crank out some more Cizerack avatars! Behold!

Miri Jitaurri, Midshipwoman in the Pride Navy. Markings based on a king cheetah.

Raifaani Meorrrei. Markings based on a Bengal tiger.

Trying out a few new things, like more catlike noses, and fennec ears! Fennec ears are the best thing, in case you weren't already aware.

Was looking through my Photobucket account, and I've got a lot of these. Might post up the whole gallery later on, but if there's anyone else who's interested in a Cizerack avatar, let me know! I may not be able to turn it around very quickly, depending on what else I've got going on, but I can knock these out in about an hour or so if the original image cooperates.

I love the way the markings on your Cizerack echo real big cats. The cheetah one especially, with the broken spot stripes down the neck, has some serious artistic flair! It adds something unspoken story wise as well, like the unspoken rule about how Klingons from the same family should have the same sort of head bumps - hints at genetics and ethnic groups and all sorts going on in the background. I'm a total nerd for that sort of thing.

How well do Cizerack manips jive with facial hair? I'd love to have a Ciz version of Kurt Russell and his magnificent moustache from Tombstone... would the 'stache make things too tricky?

I've never tried it, but I'd be willing to give it a go. The main consequence would be that I couldn't do the split upper lip. Everything else should work just fine, though.

Any particular cat you want me to try to emulate with the markings? Granted, not all of them actually work that well on a human face, or for all characters - I originally gave Miri a cheetah's tear duct lines, but they made her look too melancholy. Fortunately, it's all about artistic license with these things!

With the moustache dominating so much of his face, less is probably more... so maybe something super-minimal like a lion or puma (just the eyes, mostly?), or maybe a little splash of leopard or Sundaland Clouded Leopard (http://ichef.bbci.co.uk/naturelibrary/images/ic/credit/640x395/c/cl/clouded_leopard/clouded_leopard_1.jpg)?

He's a Marine, so the more simple and rugged the better really. Your artistic spark vastly outshines mine, so I'll trust your judgement!

Is the image I linked enough to work with, or do you need something higher resolution? I've got a couple of screengrabs that have more to work with, but it's a little tricky finding anything too hi-def for a movie from the nineties. :uhoh

I can work in that resolution just fine. The graininess of the picture makes it a little more difficult if I have to match the film grain, and it becomes very obvious if I use the smudge tool. But it's going to be shrinking down to 150 x 150 anyway, so the differences in the grain shouldn't be too noticeable in the avatar.

I'll go ahead and see what I can do with this image!

Just popping in to say that your Ciz are stellar :D And yah, when I was doing them I was using Fennec ears as well; though not to the level of skill that you're able to manipulate them.

I admit, when I saw the first few words of the title of this thread, my brain auto-completed with 'Body Snatchers'. Anyway, that is neither here nor there!

These Ciz you're doing? They're fantastic, fabulous... and all the other nice words that start with 'f', though I'm uncertain as to what those might be, if they even exist. Fun, maybe? At any rate, I'm dazzled! Excellent work! Were I writing a Ciz, I'd employ your beauty services.

Those ears.... phwoar. :D

New experiments with facial markings! I'm sorry to say this is more than anything inspired by the mascot for Kansas State University. Let me know what you think; I'll be happy to tweak it!

OMG it's awesome! That is one suave-looking pride motherfucker! :eee

Getting some serious James Bond vibage; might have to see if I can mesh together a Cizerack accent with Sean Connery. :lol

Thanks! :hug

The only way there will be a scottish cizerack is if its ears fold forward against its head

Also, great matching of skin pattern to facial hair. Really makes the eyes follow along.

Decided to stick with classic facial markings for this one. Some things are too iconic to change. :)

I cannot express how glad I am to see Craig back (I was complaining to Charley about it a couple of weeks ago!) - and holy crap, that's a pretty epic-looking way to return! :D

I sketched up a concept for a Cizerack naval uniform a while ago, using Miri as a model, and finally got around to trying out some color concepts. Going for a cross between the classic Visitor's uniform from V, which Charley has mentioned as an inspiration, and Napoleonic-era naval uniforms.

Yeah thats about as epic as I can possibly imagine. Lots of pomp and lots of color which definitely sets them apart from their more drab Alliance and Imperial counterparts!

I just updated it under the list of names on the Cizerack wiki page, no worries. That was what led me astray in the first place.

I love that the Cizerack have a Napoleonic feel to their uniforms, especially since I'm going with a regency-era Royal Navy look for the Hapans :D

Speaking of Napoleonic-era, here's my concept for the command officers' duty uniform alongside the junior officers':

Ditto. I'm consistently impressed at how much you raise the bar and continue to evolve the Cizerack vision and style. I'd love to see what other style concepts you have, even if they're just to serve as visual references, because you have some great ideas.
