The Expanded Universe as we knew it will soon be no more. Disney has created a special committee whose job it will be to figure out what is and isn't part of a complete Star Wars canon — meaning all the EU material created over the years will be judged, and either become official or deemed invalid. [...] The Story Group, as its called, includes Leland Chee, who has been Lucasfilm's "Keeper of the Holocron," the in-house database of everything Star Wars.
Can we make the prequels non-canon?

That would be an option in 2021 when Disney is done with Episode 9 and the Boba Fett and Han Solo standalone movie.
I would feel intrigued if they hit the reset button on Star Wars while I still live and care. A remake of SW is inevitable at some point and I guess I have reached the point where I want to have it rather sooner than later.
If they reboot the first 3 Episodes and they are better than what we got 10 years ago we could live in the sweet spot where we have 6 or even9 good SW movies until someone ruines Episode 4-6 or we get an honest to god good remake or reboot of the OT.

Worst EU Canon: the Vong anything, but especially Chewbacca's death. A moon? REALLY. Also the Mandalorian stuff is getting a little out of control, IMO, though I'm not really up to date with any of that.
Best EU canon: Anything Zahn wrote.
Best EU canon character: Grand Admiral Thrawn probably followed closely by Mara Jade
Worst EU canon character: Callista?
I'd be happy if they rewrite the whole Han and Leia thing and change up their kids, if they have any. There is so much EU baggage attached if they go with the 'canon' names it would be better, imo, if they have a clean start rather than have book fans frothing at the mouth about all the things they've changed.

My take on this is that much of the post-ROTJ EU material will be put on the scrap heap. Maybe some of the content which closely follows ROTJ chronologically will be saved, but it's pretty clear that they want to give the writer(s) for the upcoming films as clean a slate as possible and not be hamstrung by a lot of terrible stories and hackneyed characters.
I pretty much gave up on the EU once I read Vector Prime, so I have little problem with this approach.

Truce at Bakura, Courtship of Princess Leia, and the Zahn books were the only post-ROTJ I was really enamored with and I could be okay with even those falling by the wayside

I'm not attached to specific events/stories from the EU per se, but I would like to see a few of the characters make it into canon. Particularly, I'd like to see the development they did for Wedge Antilles have a place: he's one of my favourite Star Wars characters, mainly because he's just a dude who is really competent at his job, and gets on and does it. Some of the other pilots too would be nice: we've got plenty of swashbuckling heroes and people with Force powers... a place for the stories of some of the more regular people would be nice.
That said, if the X-Wing series - the whole Rogue Squadron going spy thriller on Coruscant, etc - winds up as canon, I will be pretty chuffed with that. Those, and the books Charley mentioned are pretty much a best-of-EU for me.

Well, if Disney does do all the spin off movies and basically creates a Star Wars Universe of movies like they're doing with Marvel and the Avengers then we could very well see an X-Wing trilogy of movies, which would be awesome. :D

The only things I've ever considered canon is ep. 4-6 pre-special edition. I gave up thinking anything was off limits when Greedo shot first.
It would be cool to follow some of the other x-wing pilots around as I've always liked Wedge.

I concur with X-Wings. I would probably die a happy mini-death. :D
