From what I've been told, the Niners got robbed. :( I missed the last ten minutes or so because I was neck deep in a birthday party.

Not sure I would say robbed.

At about 3 min of the highlights you'll see the controversial hit.

There was a hit on Brees that caused a fumble, that was flagged for a hit to the QBs head. The hit was basically right across the chest, I watched it live and again a couple times on that vid just now, and he doesn't touch anything but shoulder pads, but it was close enough to the head that it got flagged. You can hear the analysts in the video, and it's indicative of all the channels I saw, some thought it was a good call, some didn't.

Refs don't have slow-mo, but watching the hit in slow-mo and how Brees' head moves, I understand why they called it.

It being hard to see doesn't make it any less wrong. Yes, refs make mistakes, and it really sucks when an officiating mistake changes the course of a game, but it's particularly frustrating as a fan of any team that relies on defense to see the refs keep "erring on the side of caution" in favor of the offense only.

Case in point: Patriots RT Marcus Cannon was just beat on a beautiful outside speed rush by Panthers DE Charles Johnson. Cannon responded by kicking his heel back into the side of Johnson's knee, as blatant and reckless a leg whip as you'll ever see. The Panthers' best defensive player was carted off the field thanks to a bush league hit, and no flag was thrown.

At some point it would be nice to see the NFL stop treating defenders as second-class citizens.

(EDIT: Not intending to snap at you - just really, really ticked off about that dirty play by Cannon. :mad)

Didn't take it as a snap. I totally agree with you. it's like the NHL and NFL need to get their policies together and split it down the middle and it might be just right.

anyway for the weekly results...
