Although it hasn't officially started yet, you just know there's going to be a dedicated thread for it. Might as well go ahead and start it since the sale should be starting within the next couple of weeks and in the meantime, we can list the games we're hoping to rack up on during the course of the sale.

I'm not sure I'll buy any bundles this year, but if Bioshock Infinite is cheap enough I may pick it up. Just in case though I'll try to budget myself to 75$ for the duration of the sale.

Having taken up Halifax on their £100 offer for switching my current account over to them, I'm in a nice position to make some purchases this year! It's the wife's birthday in 2 weeks but I already have cash set aside for that. As for what games I have my eye on - I'm really not sure. The games I really want aren't released yet - namely Starbound, Wasteland 2, Torment: Tides of Numenera and Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs. And aside from Ammesia, I have copies of those games secured already since I've pre-ordered Starbound and backed the Kickstarters for both inXile games (of which Wasteland 2 should be released later this year).

It's been a while since I perused the Steam Store in any detail so I may very well spend an hour or so tonight in between watching Markiplier videos to see what's currently available that may interest me. I'll definitely look to spot any Indie games that tickle my fancy.

So...no weekly sale this week. Keeping my fingers crossed, I had such high hopes it would happen last week...

Apparently the Summer Sale usually starts on a Thursday so fingers crossed we only have 2 days to wait...

If my memory serves me correctly, the Steam deals always updated around 6pm UK time. By that reckoning, if indeed the sale starts today, we have around 10 hours until we'll know.

Having been in China for the past 10 months I really don't know what came out during that time.

Any suggestions for games that I should keep an eye out for that I might have missed?

I would buy Bioshock Infinite today, if you don't have that already

I second what Jenny said about Bioshock Infinite - a cracking first day offer, that! Presently, I have my eyes on Don't Starve and the Dragonborn DLC, but since the servers are struggling under the load I'm waiting with all the agitation of a crack addict going cold turkey.

After watching less than 5 minutes of a Lets Play, I added Rogue Legacy to my Wishlist - it looks so much fun and I'm sure I can get a better deal than -20% before the Sale is through. Also holding out for a bigger discount on Metro: Last Light sonce the first game, Metro 2033, was so great! Otherwise, nothing from the current batch of deals tickle me. No doubt The Borderlands franchise will be up - or rather down - soon enough. I really need to get stuck into Borderlands 2, the first game is one of my favourite PC games! If anybody ever fancies rolling new characters for Borderlands 2, gimme a shout for some co-op as I've barely scratched the surface of it.

OMG Scribblenauts Unlimited looks ridiculously fun to play! Buying it ASAP!

Picked up two items off my wishlist (Bioshock and Defiance) plus the Emperor Space game today. Saving my precious funds for the next batches of sales.

Did anyone else try Scribblenauts yet? Jennifer Hale (the voice of FemShep) is the narrator!

Keep an eye out. I read something the other day about the best way to get deals out of the Steam Sale, and they mentioned that usually they put everything back on the last day at some sort of discount.

Not sure if they'll do that again or not. Since the article included things about the publisher bundles, and as of yet I haven't seen those, so they might be changing some of the aspects of the sale.

ALSO if anyone is not collecting the Steam cards and would like to donate their summer cards, I can give them a good home :angel

And send you another game card in return perhaps!

I've played some Scribblenauts and am loving it, apart from every time I try to alt-tab out or even just quit the game, (I BSOD :(

Borderlands 2 and DLC currently on offer from -33% to -68% (random numbers!)

I was actually typing out a post asking for help with the Season Pass contents and what the best purchases would be. But I forgot that I have the Season Pass as I pre-ordered it, lol! But regardless, here's the low-down on what kind of saving you could make with the Season Pass.

Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt
Mr Torgue's Campaign of Carnage
Captain Scarlett and her Pirate's Booty
Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep
Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack
Mechromancer Pack

They collectively cost £20.18 right now on Steam whereas the Season Pass is just £6.79, which is incredible when you consider the full normal price of the separate DLC above comes to £43.94 - so that Season Pass actually saves you £37.15 right now.

There's an armfull of extra DLC packs that add a range of new things. The most notable is the Psycho Pack which adds the 6th and final playable class, the Psycho Bandit. Then there's the Collectors Edition which adds character customization as well as the Contraband Sky Rocket Grenade (whatever that is!). The Creature Slaughterdome lets you tackle vicious beasts in an arena and the gear and experience which carries over to the main game. Then there's the Class Packs which let you customize your character further but they don't add gameplay elements to my knowledge.

So for anybody looking to get the most bang for their Borderlands Buck, here's what you need:

Borderlands 2 (Base Game) - £6.79
Borderlands 2 Season Pass (contains 6 DLC's) - £6.79
Borderlands 2 Psycho Pack (New Playable Class - Krieg the Psycho Bandit)- £2.71
Borderlands 2 Collectors Edition Pack - £1.17
Borderlands 2 Creature Slaughterdome - £1.17

Total - £18.63

That'll net you all the actual content in terms of story, quests and gear. The rest of the DLC's are fluff and tinsel which aren't needed unless you wish to pay to pimp out your characters more.

Do they really have Fallout New Vegas for $2.49 or is it like an expansion?

Peter McCoy
Jul 14th, 2013, 12:34:30 PM
It's probably an expansion. It's currently £5.99 here so maybe around $8?

Actually, it looks like they updated it and it's now 75% off instead of 40% - I guess they did it wrong initially. I wondered why it was such a poor discount. Incidentally, yes Holly - it IS that cheap! Why not get the Ultimate Edition for $5 and get all the DLC along with it!?

Lilaena De'Ville
Jul 14th, 2013, 12:39:21 PM
Because less than $5 I can squeak by in the bank account without Ty noticing lol. If I could spend $13 I would have bought defiance. :(

I thoroughly enjoyed playing through Deadlight when it was first released. The only let-down is how short it is. But it's one hell of a ride!

Okay two games I've been wondering about. Anyone have comments about:

1) Dishonoured - Was one that I kind of had my eye on as being a possible good game coming out before I left, but wondered if anyone has actually played it.

2) Remember Me - Saw the trailer for it and thought it was a pretty cool concept, but ratings seem to be all over the place. Again, anyone play it?

Peter McCoy
Jul 16th, 2013, 06:42:30 AM
Not played it but I've not really heard anything golden about Remember Me - most reviews and people say it's pretty weak and not much fun.

Dishonoured is quite the opposite! Buy it now! A fantastic experience!
