Advertising Ideas

We need to capitalize on the release of RotS and draw in some new posters, not just for the RPing forums, but for the rest of the board too.

I hope to get the monies soon so we can start a semi-agressive ad campaign through a few webcomics.

Does anyone else have any ideas? And does anyone want to pledge money towards paying for ad space? I'm thinking about setting up a paypal account to specifically take donations for board promotion.

I know we are going to target some web comics, but what about some gaming sites too? I know what some of them would be pretty pricey, but there might be some we could afford. Also we could maybe try and set up some kind of affiliate program with some non-RPing Star Wars sites?

I think we should be really careful where we advertise, and I'd wager we can't afford gaming sites. They've all been bought up by big conglomerates.

Certain webcomics are our best bet.

I don't see this working, because we are not simply a roleplaying board. We also have the "upstairs" forums that we wish to boost membership for.

And I agree with Morgan, we should be careful where, and HOW we advertise. We can't use copyrighted images or likenesses of actors and actresses in ads, for instance, and we would have to stay to our own artistic and graphic skillz.

I think we should focus our advertising efforts on SW related sites, as that would draw the most attractive kind of posters; people who love and know SW. If we could get some kind of deal going with theforce.net for example, we would be rollin.

Does anyone have any ideas for ads that won't involve copyrighted material? Maybe a Dot Net -style ad would be best (If S'il feels like being artitstic, that is).
