Decided to post a new thread on this. The trailer for GOF debuts Saturday night during ABC presentation of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secerts. Also USA Today has a big article on potter and it is out here

http://www.usatoday.com/life/movies/news/2005-05-03-potter-first-look-main_x.htm

I love that pic :)
Also here is another article about Radcliffe

http://www.usatoday.com/life/movies/news/2005-05-03-potter-sidebar_x.htm

He confirms he will play Harry again for the Order of the Phoenix. I think that means he will finish the series. WB would be nuts to try to recast that part for the last two films.

Thanks for the news! Can't wait to see it! :D

This is the first I hear of this - awesome news. :) GOF is the only one of the books I've read (picked it up after I saw POA), and I thought it was better than the previous installments.

Goblet of Fire is by far my favorite book so far, though the ending of Order of the Phoenix is going to be incredible on film.

Can't wait to see the trailer, that picture is great as well! We should get some incredible visuals in this one with the Dragons and Underwater challenge

If you pick up the USA today you get a clear shot of the Dragon and a better shot of the Goblet with Fred and George trying to trick it . I do think this could be the best of the Potter films, it sure will be the one with the most action.

COOOOOOL! What movie is the trailer gonna be attached to? Anyone know??

Sounds neat - although I have my reservations. I though the third movie was only "okay" (I know, I'm probably in the minority here), but I think too much was glossed over. With GOF even longer (by a considerable margin) than Prisoner of Azkaban, I'm afraid that they're going to cut more and more meat out of the story, leaving it as just a stunning visual movie with most of the story omitted. Hopefully not, though - I really like the series and I want this movie to do well...

There are a lot of things in the story that can be left out though, I don't agree with all of the changes from Prisoner but they did a very good adaption of it. I'm hoping they will do a LoTR and release a slimmer version in the theatre and give us another 45 mins or so on the DVD that fills in the gaps of what they couldn't fit in.

My sentiments exactly. Can't wait to see more on this. Looks good so far.

That would be an awesome idea - have a theatrical release to please the masses and then an extended DVD release to please the fan-boys...

It really could work things like....

Hagrids Crush on the other Giant, early scenes at the Quidditch World Cup, Dursleys and Grangers households, bits and pieces with Mad Eye.

All would be cool to see but aren't really necessary for the main story to go forward.

My biggest worry is if they will properly flesh out the death eaters and the other quidditch players/schools before they all show up and become a big part of the story

Yeah it is tough to juggle this story although there is plenty to cut. I know they have cut Spew and Bagman's subplot completely. Not sure what else will get cut out. Some pics have been released here is one of the dragon

That is a very cool pic, I think that sequence is going to be amazing.

Cool pics - the maze scene looks pretty neat - that's a lot bigger than I envisioned it from the book...

This is going to be a very fun movie. All the movies so far have been good.

Jedi Master Carr

Yeah the maze seems bigger of course it could be the angle making it look that way. Of course the maze covers the entire quidditch field so maybe it makes sense. And yeah they have sure grown up, it is hard to believe the changes from 11 to 15.

It gives a mysteriousness to the movie especially the title line makes you wonder what is going to happen to Harry this go around.

Mind you, I did get to see some behind the scenes snippets courtesy of the BBC which more than whet my appetite. Along with this poster, the promise of a teaser trailer and the nearing arrival of The Half-Blood Prince, I can feel my Potter frenzy coming on again and it's not going to be pretty. :eek

Was it the same footage as this?

That was pretty good behind the scene footage :) and it looks like the Hermione and Ron jealousy fight made it

Warner Brothers sure didn't waste any time, teaser trailer is up here

Great teaser, loved how they showed the kids aging through the films. Also loved the line from Dumbledore at the end as that sets the stage for the rest of the series.

heh I know it was amazing, I love the music when they are dealing with the triwizard tournament. It gives the impression something omnious is coming. Same with the final line by Dumbledore prepares us for Voldemort

I'm about to begin re-reading book four now. The craving has returned. :)

Edit: The fact that they never showed ANYTHING to do with Voldemort just gives me shivers. This is a mystery I am dying to see unravel on the big screen.

I am going to reread all of them soon, in anticipation of HBP and this trailer really makes me even more excited about both.

Either I blinked and missed something, or else we got cheated out of the trailer on my ABC station. I saw all the behind the scenes stuff, but the only trailer I saw was the one for The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Needless to say, I'm mighty peeved. :verymad

Thanks for the link, though...at least I can see what I missed. :grumble

EDIT: Nice trailer, definitely. Oh, and btw, did anyone else get irritated by the fact that it was rare to go longer than 10 minutes in COS tonight without getting interrupted by commercials? Gadzooks. :\

Jedi Master Carr
May 8th, 2005, 10:24:55 AM
I know they showed a lot of comericials. Also I didn't see the trailer during COS either I just found the link. I am not sure if they put it on during the night unless they put local comericals on over it here.

Jinn Fizz
May 8th, 2005, 11:47:01 AM
I'm guessing they put local commercials over it here. Probably the one with the preacher telling people to come to the meetings he was having here in Santa Maria. On May 5th and 6th. They showed that ad not once, but twice. Duh. >_<

Oh, and btw, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe looks promising. And I also loved the commercial for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I don't care what anyone else says, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a must-see for me this summer. :cool

Very nice trailer, the opening was great with the aging kids.

The tournament is looking great, it makes it seem very serious and ominous. The series is moving in more of a adult direction and the trailer seems to be trying to push that.

Jedi Master Carr
May 9th, 2005, 10:59:20 AM
Yeah I loved the opening montage too, that was a great touch kind of like the ROTS trailer with the OT footage. The tournament does look great from what they show, but I really like how it ends when they show Goblet of Fire title, Dumbledore's line is so perfect it shows where the movies are going from here.

I saw the trailer for the Narnia movie, but I missed the one for Goblet of Fire. Is it up on the net yet?

EDIT: NM. ^_^; Saw the link above.

Nobody I know saw the trailer during the broadcast...not a huge sampling of people, admittedly, but reports are from different parts of the country. So, it's making me think either lots of places covered it up with local ads, or else the info that the trailer was going to premiere during the broadcast wasn't accurate.

Not that it really matters that much, since it's viewable online. :)
