Oh my goodness, words CANNOT descibe the funny that is to be found in this link. I was laughing so hard I could barely breathe.

It's hard to decide which is funniest... the ten-foot-long quad tailpipes, the plywood spoilers, the cowcatchers, or the windshield-blinders...

In any case, :lol

So what are the tubes coming out of the front of some cars? Something to do with NOS?

No, that's somebody putting an intercooler on their car, but they had NO idea how to do it so they just ran the tubes through the grill, or worse, headlight, instread of cutting their bumper.

Ah, once I figure out exactly what a intercooler is, I shall laugh at them...

it's an external oil cooler, not an intercooler. The giveaway is the lines in terminate on one side and also are much smaller, while a real Intercooler goes from one side to the other.

Also, technically ricing is putting on parts in the misguided thought they will achieve a raise in performance or looks, but yet backfire and do anything but. These vehicles are clearly caratuires and done for absurd fun. Rice? Nah. Amusing? Hell yes!

Using this image I now link to explain an intercooler...

An intercooler is used on a car with forced induction, usually a turbosupercharged car, to give the correct term. As the air is compressed, it is heated up. More compression means more air into the cylinders at one time. But more heat means less density, thence less effective air. So, you run the air via a heat exchanger, in most cases these days a large radiator. The air is cooled and made more dense again, but is still compressed and thence you have more power.

I thought the first eight were nice looking cars, and would drive. But after that, they just go downhill.

I have adopted the phrase "street squeegy" to refer to cars like that.
