History
UIT’s civilian branch has been producing the Confessor for the better part of the company’s existence. The craft relies on tried and true technologies that give it an extremely competitive edge over non-Federacy vessels.
Although the design is specifically for civilian cargo transportation it packs enough shielding, speed, and power to compete with many military vessels. Generally, Confessors will stay in groups of three while outside Federacy space. These groups can handle any pirate raid with ease and often find foreign governments conservative in their usage of force to search or detain the ships.
The Confessor was designed specifically as an export craft. As such, it lacks neural technology and more modern engines. The ship is popular among members of organizations looking to purchase a UIT craft without having to go through blackmarket channels for high powered equipment.
The craft is known as a civilian conversion transport due to the ease of upgrade. All of the systems on the stock vessel are neatly arranged, labeled, and the manual for the ship contains all of the technical information anyone will ever require for fixing or maintaining the parts.
With this knowledge many individuals have upgraded the already advanced weapons systems or installed more expensive UIT technology. Additionally, blackmarket Federacy technology has been known to show up in Confessor craft due to the stable and easily adapted UIT chassis that is similar to Federacy transport chassis. However, the Federal government’s punishments for the possession of illicit military technology is extreme and few are willing to smuggle the advanced systems out of Federacy space.
The Confessor is one of the many perfect cash cows that the company relies on to increase its research money pools.
Physical Description
The Confessor has two forward sweeping wings that house compartments that can be easily upgraded with weapons. Initially one wing holds the gatling along with the sensors package.
The wings cover the entire length of the vessel. At their center the cockpit starts and the primary segment of the craft continues all the way to the engine strip. The canopy for the cockpit is similar to a TIE fighter’s circular window with overhead and underneath panels that display surrounding space. This gives the pilot an advantageous viewpoint.
Like all UIT and Federacy designs the Confessor consists of jagged angles. It is rugged and wicked looking.
