The old thread was closed, and I wanted to show off THIS:

<img src=/forum/attachment.php?s=&postid=698903>

so I started a new one. My new office in my new house! No, I'm really not done unpacking yet.

:eek WOW! The walls look great in that pic. Looks like you put the paint on right. Maybe you should just put up a bunch of pics of that color all around that room ;)

They're still a little uneven, but I think that the patterns I painted on take enough attention away so it looks like i did it on purpose. ;) I just cant bear the thought of another coat.

And once I get the piano in there I'll start finalizing the arrangement and hanging pictures and stuff. I'm thinking about getting poster frames for the LotR posters and decorating with those. ^_^

Oh yeah, and thanks for the help Rog ;)

That red is waaaaaaaay bright. I would probably throw myself down a ravine after an hour of exposure.

Then again, I've always been a fan of neutral and earth tones, and think that Ethan Allen color schemes are a faux pax and an abomination.

Just so long as you don't put in any clashing accents :)

:uhoh so the purple and green striped couch is a bad idea?

;) I'm going to be putting the rest of the decor in black and white photographs, or MAYBE my lotr posters. maybe. They might look like crap on that bright red. The piano going in there will be a shiny black upright. :D:D:D:D:D SO EXCITED A PIANO YAY!!

oh yeh and Ethan Allen is my nephew.

What kind of piano? And do you play? :)

I have one of those kinds that stands up against a wall, for lack of a better description. Forgot the brand. It used to belong to my grandma, and then my mom had it, and now I have it (though technically it's still at my mom's house as it wouldn't make sense to move it to the apartment when we might get a condo come next year... too much piano moving :x )

Originally, I wsn't thinking of takign it, but then Joe plays the piano and he really wanted one, so I figured we'd just take my grandma's. So, I asked mom, and she said to go for it. I'm thinking I'll keep it running in the family as sort of an heirloom.

The piano should be here before the new year. ^_^; If all goes as planned.

And *yes* Rie, Charley is correct, I went to school for a major in music/piano. I did that for two years. Since leaving school I haven't *had* a piano in my possession (mom and dad own the one I learned on) and so I'm VERY excited to finally have my own. I started playing when I was 8 years old.

Holly, you're so freaking lucky :)

I would give anything to have a piano again. After playing for 10 years, then being cut off rather abruptly from a piano and without funds to purchase another, it's rather not fun and the fingers begin to atrophy. All the forearm muscle dexterity I had is gone, too :cry

When I come over, we need to learn some duets to play :D

I have an organ at my house, you dork :mneh

Lilaena De'Ville
Dec 22nd, 2004, 06:38:23 PM
organ != piano, you dork. :mneh

And yes! Come visit! I totally agree with the fingers atrophy-ing, I can't give massages like I used to. My fingers are still pretty strong... but not like they used to be.

Since my grandma died... we got a rather large check as an inheritance, so that's how we got the funds. Which is bittersweet. But I have something to remember her by every day now. :)

What do you mean you had no piano? You lived with us for who knows how long and we had a piano that whole time. You are without excuses girl. Your just lazy about play, like most piano players. I might have to come over some time and make sure you got a good sounding piano. :D

I'd explain the many reasons I didn't play that piano OFTEN when others were around - one of them being SOMEONE WAS ALWAYS TAKING A NAP, and I was working a lot, and you kids have early bedtimes.

Yeah that's three.
