HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I'm making pumpkin pie for the first time, and ... I'm afraid it might all have to be written off as a loss. ^_^;

I had some duck for dinner, not quite turkey, but it was delicious <img src=http://www.thegjo.com/smileys/lick.gif>

actually there was a mixup between 'condensed milk' and 'evaporated milk' and I'm really not sure which was supposed to go in or not. My mother in law told my husband to buy condensed milk, but the recipe said 'evaporated' and so...

only time will tell. They're cooling now though.

The pie will survive. I've done that before.

As for me, I just got back from a homeless shelter run by the local jewish community center. We always spend the day making and serving turkey dinner to the homeless, and we eat at night.

Turkey will be ready in a little over an hour. I'll be having s'Il over for dinner, and after that....NAP TIME to get ready for Black Friday :)

lol

I don't know about the pie - it'll be SUPER SWEET because apparently the part of the directions that weren't passed down to me was that if you use condensed milk, you don't put in sugar.

So these pies are staying here and we're taking a bought one to the dinner we're going to. ^_^; I'm sure Ty will eat them, though. :)

Hope everyone had a good Turkey Day. :)

I actually didn't eat a ton today like I have been known to do in the past. I had a little bit of a lot of different things, but didn't push it.

Besides... with lots of leftovers, I can get my fill of all that stuff over the next couple of days.

Hope y'all had a great Thanksgiving. God bless!

I was so excited--snowed today! Just a flurry, and barely that, but it was, in fact, snow...so, my Thanksgiving was pretty close to perfect.

Had a good time - although Thanksgiving with a 4 month old isn't necessarily the most relaxing day. Still, the food was excellent and we all got to spend time together, and that's what its all about anyway... :)

I spent most of turkey day working on cutting and routing a new kitchen counter top. Just to find out the next day that I needed to take off another 3/4" on one end, and 1/2" on another. Then I had to join the two damn pieces, flip the thing over and add mounting blocks so the counter could be attached to the cabinets. (Which were being installed by professionals, not hacks like me.) The mounting blocks of course had to be planed down on a planer because 3/4" was too friggin' thick. Today the countertop passed mustard and it was good enough for the pros to mount it onto the kitchen cabinets.

My reward? I got to get on my hands and knees and start laying down a new hardwood floor in the dining room. I got about 1/4 of it done tonight. Should be able to finish it tomorrow inbetween commercial breaks. This is while a new fridge and stove get delivered and installed. All of this is due to one friggin leak under the sink that got into the sub floor and caused so much damage Allstate had to write us checks for close to 4K so we could get repairs done.

Luckily for me, the wife decided that if we did much of the labor ourselves we could afford to get some new appliances. By we of course she meant ME! CURSE YOU WOMAN!!!!!!!
