Anyone watching tonights games? :)

Cyrel Annat
Oct 24th, 2004, 12:27:24 PM
I'm not able to watch anything until tomorrow night when my rabbit ears can pick up a station that shows the MNF game. What I can tell you now, though, is that Priest Holmes and Donovan McNabb are having huge days so far. KC's up 28-3 and Miami is ahead at the half, 14-7 over the Rams. The rest of the games seem pretty stock as far as who is winning. No real surprises that I spot.

Cyrel Annat
Oct 24th, 2004, 01:18:55 PM
As an aside, and no offense is intended to the Fin fans, but only Mike Martz could get his team to lose to the Dolphins. I guess that's what happens when you pit two teams notorious for throwing away opportunities to play each other.

Master Yoghurt
Oct 24th, 2004, 02:46:28 PM
What an amazing game by the Chiefs. Atlanta was supposed to have the best rushing defense in NFL, yet that defense just got trashed in the most humiliating way possible. Priest Holmes + Blaylock = the kill

Cyrel Annat
Oct 24th, 2004, 02:50:25 PM
Another very impressive win for Jacksonville as well. Detroit also showing a great deal of improvement which is an uplifting sign for their fans in the coming years. I almost shudder to think at how they would be if Rogers could just stay healthy. Rogers and Roy Williams will be dangerous in the coming years. And give credit to Cleveland as well. The game is still going on, but what a performance against a superior team. Another good week of games around the league and I, personally, am enjoying the score of the Cardinals game. I doubt it'll hold for another 3 quarters, but there's hope.

And Philly just won on the FG. Still, a hard fought game by the Browns.

Lilaena De'Ville

I don't know why I bother trying to pick - teams that usually win have been losing, and now they've started WINNING again - I just GIVE UP.

This week was another tough one. I mean, c'mon, MIAMI winning? Granted, it was against the Rams, but MIAMI winning?? I've noticed that most of the games that I was wrong on, just about everyone else was as well. Indy, Rams, Giants. Just another crazy week.

jjwr
Oct 24th, 2004, 06:24:46 PM
A lot of upsets this week, Miami, Arizona, the freaking Saints...sigh

On the bright side the Pats won, ugly as all heck but they won.

Would it kill them to win a game before the last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter?

Two more and a TD for Neon Deion.

That KC score was a shock 56-10 :crack Are they showing signs of life.

Cyrel Annat
Oct 24th, 2004, 10:43:41 PM
Well, for KC, it was a matter of doing what worked last year. Using Holmes like a pack horse to do all the work. On the flipside, I think it was Atlanta's truer colors. They're not as good as their record shows. And while the win for KC was extremely impressive, they've got a long road to make the playoffs.

I was impressed again with Detroit, as I eluded to in an earlier post. Right now, they would be in the Wild Card, and I believe that they still have two games against Minnesota within the division. I still think it's a long shot, but stranger things have already happened this year.

Figrin D'an
Oct 24th, 2004, 10:54:27 PM
I tend to agree about Detroit. If Charles Rogers were healthy, I shudder to think how deadly of a one-two punch that would be for Harrington. Most wanted to hand the NFC North to Minnesota at the beginning of the season, but they haven't played either Detroit or Green Bay yet, and given the Vikings propensity for falling apart in the second half of the season, that division is still up for grabs IMO.

And I also agree that Atlanta is overrated, and not as good as their record. They have to travel to Denver next week, where their supposedly top-notch run defense is going to be tested again. Because the NFC South is so weak, they're probably still the favorite to win the division, but they definitely aren't as good as they were predicted to be.

Cyrel Annat
Oct 24th, 2004, 11:04:19 PM
After looking at the standings, the AFC South could make for a fun little battle. Jacksonville and Indy have split their two games, and both teams have to play a Houston team that simply is not the stomping mat that they used to be. Do I really think that the Texans will beat Indy? No. Do I think it's possible? Absolutely. At worst, they're gonna be that team that may very well spoil the chances of either Jacksonville or Indy. Another year of experience under Carr's belt and look for big things to come out of Houston in the future.

jjwr
Oct 25th, 2004, 06:11:21 AM
Houston is a scary team, against Indy's weak pass defense you could see some fireworks put up by those guys.

Detroit is still a year away I think, by next year hopefully Jones will have truly found his stride as the lead tail-back and Rogers & Williams combo is just scary.

Frickin' Jets............................. honestly, is there any doubt that Kerry will win the election? NE is simply unstoppable right now. :crack

Atlanta was just steamrolled. With the rank that defense had that was simply a shocker. The Packers finally won at Lambeau and just might be able to limp back into the playoff hunt. The Rams, WTF? They can still win that division because of the freefall the Seahawks are in but I can't see how they can put a consistent playoff run together.

Oh yeah - I remember seeing something about that on the news somewhere... How was that supposed to work? If the skins win the game then the incumbent wins, or was it vice versa?

Mine either. Cyrel was wanting to use one of his other accounts here to pick one week and not have it count towards anything. He was going to flip a coin to decide each one. I told him we'll just do that with my Syren account for week 8. I doubt I can do any worse with coin-flip choices.

So I'm sitting here watching the start of the Denver/Cincinnati game. I think Champ Bailey needs to tie his shoes a little bit tighter and quit tripping over his own two feet! /rant

Just thinking about the Rams, Packers, Redskins, etc....whats really sad is that they're all in the playoff hunt, that really emphasizes how bad the NFC is overall. You've got the Eagles and the Vikings....and thats about it, the rest are just sad and mediocre. As for the AFC...not even a comparison right now.

As a ESPN guy wrote(or was it CNNSI) that on a neutral field pit Philly vs the Colts and the Colts would be favored to win, and they are the current 5th/6 seed in the AFC.

Wow...Palmer just dropped another 50yd bomb to Johnson, impressive.

Bengals may not be there this year but they overachieved last year. These guys will be good next year.

Don't get me started on this game. Why doesn't the line just lay down and let the Bengals defense kill Plummer? I'm so bloody furious watching this game. Granted, the Bengals came to play. I'm not taking anything away from that, but Denver quit their gameplan. Plummer is a better play-action passer. So, let's keep him in the pocket. Crimony, why not run a draw play when the Bengals defense is coming full on the whole time? Bullocks!

Figrin D'an
Oct 25th, 2004, 10:22:13 PM
About 2 hours before kickoff, I was thinking about changing my pick to Cincy, cause I just kind of got a feeling that they would play well tonight.... and I didn't pull the trigger. *sigh*

oh well... still didn't do too bad this week.

If the Redskins win on the Sunday (or Monday) before the election, the incumbent stays in office. If they lose, the challenging party takes the White House. It's a remarkable trend that has held true since the 1920's.
