Sorry guys, I've had a busy few weeks and haven't really been able to be online much. What little time I've had, I've taken while posting between tasks at work. I've been house-sitting at my friend's house in Sterrett, which is pretty much in the boonies. No internet whatsoever. Bad news for a net-head like myself, who has withdrawals when disconnected. I managed to get by alright though.
So, its time to play catch up :)
As you all know, I got me a spiffy little AK-47 clone (Romanian WASR-10), and its been a fun little shootin iron. I've only put about 40 rounds through it, but I'll probably give it a much better trial run this next weekend.
Next, I've been hitting the ol' 8-5 for the past month. My job is awesome, although very tiring. What do I do? Well, I'm the materials coordinator for Integrated Medical Systems, in their Renewal Technologies department. This is just a fancy way of saying that I count screws, springs, tiny scissors, and other tiny little stainless steel parts that go into surgical instruments, and make sure that we keep enough repair items on-hand for technicians to make their repairs. Not as exciting as being an astronaut, but it keeps me sane with plenty of things to do.
I've got my own cubicle, and filled it with lots of intensely interesting crap like old western posters and star wars action figures and office supplies. I'm trying to get a new chair, and I'd like a red swingline stapler, but I don't think I'll be able to negotiate for one. The major perk of my job is that I get a lot of german chocolate, every two or three days. Since our major parts vendor is based out of Tuttlingen, Germany, they send the technicians in Renewal Tech (and ultimately, me) a few big packs of chocolate with every import order we make. It helps break the monotony of my audit schedule when I can grab a few squares of quality candy (I've never tried a german chocolate that is inferior to american stuff. They simply make the best). The only problem is that it might make me a little jaded about my candy :)
The down side of my job? Its pretty much destroying any and all chances of me having a weekday social life though, so don't expect me to be around frequently monday through friday. I might suprise you though. I really don't want to post that much from work, but I might pop up here and there on occasion, depending on how slow we get in the lab. The flipside is that I might occasionally work on saturdays, especially the weekend before the last tuesday of each month, because I usually have a lot of things to finish before we run inventory close-outs.
I did get to break the monotony this weekend, and went to a football game with s'Ilancy (hooray Alabama won for once!). Had a great time, and had just enough of a break from things to recharge me for this next week.
Anyway, now that I'm back at the homestead, I really need to catch up on old times. How are things going? What have I missed? Where do I need to post, etc, etc etc.
