The Pats are smacking the Seahawks around!

Way too early for this to be over but right now the Seahawks are so overmatched its not even funny.

What the Seahawks need to do is run the ball, thats where the Pats are weak but they keep trying to pass and its killing them.

Yeah, its a little surprising the difference would be that much. I guess we can allready say the Pats are sailing up as the big favorite this year. Although, the Eagles are doing great too..

Btw, what is the situation with the Jets? Seems they have some trouble with the 49ers. Now that one I definitely did not expect. They better turn it around. I also did not expect the Lions having so much difficulty with the Packers.

Pretty decent first half pickem and fantasy wise for me overall though. That WR I put into my starting linup in the last minute, A Davis made 99 yards in one attempt and a TD. Terrel Owens is being a maniac as usual too :D

I cant figure out Green Bay packers. Last week they were an absolute mess. This week they trashed Detroit.

Nice fireworks in the Seattle-New England game :)

Kansas looks to be back in their (bad) old habbits..

So, Tennessee scores 48 against Green Bay last week, then proceeds to score only 10 against Houston? They win the Jekyl & Hyde award for the week. And the Packers actually looked like the Packers today against Detroit, rather than the abomination that has been on the field for the past several weeks.

Poor Miami... even Buffalo can beat the snot out of them.

Yeah, Tennessee Titans result made no sense at all.

The only thing I can think of, Houston may be better than what people think

The Texans are improved, and better than most expected, but Tennessee is has no consistency. One week, they look like world-beaters... the next, they're completely inept. Indy will win that division going away, anyway.

I wish someone would beat Philly. I dispise the Eagles so much. I want to see them lose a couple, so Owens will throw a tantrum about not getting the ball and destroy their team chemistry.

Ditto with Minnesota and Randy Moss.

Well, Philadelfia is one of the few teams who done consistantly well, so its not so easy. I think New England and Philadelfia are the two most obvious Super Bowl candidates because they have both great offense and defense.

Those are my favorites. After that its, Seattle, Indianapolis, Minnesota and Denver.

Philly has been the favorite out of the NFC for the the past 3 seasons, too, and has yet to win in the NFC Title game. Favorite or not, they have a trend of choking when it matters most, and they have to prove to me that they can do it before I put any stock in hype around them.

New England has earned it. They're the champs, and they will be until someone knocks them off. I think Indy could do it, but only if the playoff game is at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis.

Minnesota... I'm waiting for them to impode again. They start out great nearly every year, then fall apart in the second half of the season.

Denver can win the AFC West, since KC is terrible this year. Seattle has the personel to compete for the NFC title, but they have a mental toughness issue. They need to get over that first.

Wannstedt is on the chopping block for sure now. The franchise's FIRST 0-6 start EVER. Even in expansion they were better than this. This team disgusts me, and I know I shouldn't be so merciless on my team since I know they have no one of quality on offense (outside of a couple receivers, namely Chambers and McMichaels). The defense is starting to fold, and who can blame them, again the offense gives up the ball that leads to huge points. Lack of skill, lack of intelligence, and lack of discipline, those are ALL on the coaching staff. This is not all a result of Ricky leaving, but it certainly didn't help matters. This team would *maybe* be 2-4 with Ricky, more likely 1-5.

Dolphins are toast. At this point if I were managment I would start looking to next year.

Give Rosenfels some starts, see if the kid can play or not, maybe he'll show them something and will save them from drafting a QB high next year. If he doesn't....well its not like Fielder/Feeley are lighting things up.

Get Ricky back ASAP and trade him, if they can corner a pair of #1's next year or even something 4-5 picks in the first 3 rounds it will really help in rebuilding the team.

This off-season is gonna be rough, I would imagine they cut a number of the older players on the roster to free up cap space for the following year. Next year will be a rebuilding year, cut the space, play some young guys and try and build for the future.

And as a Football fan I must say its sad to see such a good team historically doing so poorly. As a Patriots fan I love it! Dolphins have always been strong in the division but this should give the Pats at least a few years of a easier division schedule.

It's going to be sad to see some of the older vets get released at the end of this season. Sam Madison will probably be shown the door, as will Seau most likely. If they ditch Zach Thomas I'm going to lose it though. That guy is all heart.

There is SO much rebuilding that has to happen. New coaching staff, new o-linemen, new QB's, capable RB (I'm thinking a Ricky Williams for Edgerrin James deal will do nicely; James has already hinted at playing in his home town). Ricky may get you a number one pick if you find an idiot, forget 2 first rounders.

Well the rumor has been that Edge wants to return to Florida. He's a free agent at the end of the year so you never know. Problem is the Colts were looking at having to resign Harrison & Edge but with Harrison having a off year and the other two Colts WR's having great years it may prompt them to let Harrison walk and either resign Edge or Franchise him for one more year, which would mean no Edge in Miami till '06, but that may not be a bad thing, more Cap room by then and a better chance to compete.

You and me both. And I don't know that it's simply due to Tennessee's inconsistency that helped things along. Houston has played tough against everyone they've faced this year and the improvement this year is pretty amazing. Unfortunately, I don't foresee the Wild Card in their future this year, though that would be very nice to see. But definately within the next two years, possibly as early as next year, they may be playing some extra football.

The Denver rout over Oakland pleased me immensely as well, and adds more to the fact that the system makes the runners. Reuben Droughns with back-to-back 100+ yard games? If I'm not mistaken, he was originally the back-up fullback. Not even a halfback, and he's putting up huge rushing numbers. And this 5-1 start is certainly paving the way for the playoffs barring some manner of absolute meltdown.

jjwr
Oct 18th, 2004, 11:13:18 AM
Denver is definetly on their way to the Playoffs.

Their system is impressive, no way Droughns is as good as his numbers show, in that system anyone can run. Look at Gary when we left Denver, he didn't do squat. Its all about that system. Portis is genuinly talented but Droughns? I mean really.....

Master Yoghurt

Portis is genuinly talented but Droughns? I mean really.....

Maybe Im biased (I have Droughs in my fantasy league lineup), but I think the numbers speak for themselves.

Week 5:
1. R. Droughns DEN 193 yds
2. S. Alexander SEA 150 yds
3. C. Brown TEN 148 yds

Week 6:
1. R. Droughns DEN 176 yds
2. C. Portis WAS 171 yds
3. W. Green CLE 115 yds

Ok, admittedly Denver got a great system going. But I doubt you could win rushing stats 2 weeks in a row unless youre talented. Maybe no new Clinton Portis, but he could end up benching Q. Griffin. He has more yards in 2 games than Griffin made in 4.

But yes, Denver was very impressive. I feel 100% sure they will reach the playoffs.

jjwr
Oct 18th, 2004, 12:27:16 PM
Look at the string of backs they've had though, they always plug someone in and they put up huge numbers. Its the system, maybe its not all the system but a lot of that is the system.

Griffin was overrated to begin with, no offense to the guy but he wasn't quite all he was billed to be, he had a few great games but that was pretty much it.

Figrin D'an
Oct 18th, 2004, 03:15:31 PM
Agreed, it's the system in Denver that produces the rushing stats. Terrell Davis was the best of the bunch that Shanahan has had on that team, but even at that, there's no way he would have gotten a 2000 yard rushing season with another team (maybe 1500-1600). Davis, Olandis Gary, Mike Anderson, Clinton Portis, Quentin Griffin, and now Reuben Droughs. Shanahan does a great job of drafting/signing and teaching backs that fit his system. The same thing applies to his offensive line. Denver has, on average, the smallest offensive line the league, but they compensate for it by making sure each lineman is athletic, fast, and has a complete understanding of the blocking scheme. It's a great system that Denver has in place, no doubt about it.

Gotta have the right personel, though. Not many teams have the athleticism on the O-line that Denver does.

I heard that rumor about Spurrier as well. Won't happen. Spurrier will sit and wait until the end of the college football season, then a school will swoop in and make him a huge offer to turn their program around. His system doesn't work in the NFL, and I think he really doesn't have the desire to take another NFL job after what happened in Washington.

I was reading about the Spurior thing, firstly the team won't bring in someone like that at the bye-week, way too much of a change mid-stream. Mid-season changes are typically from with-in. I heard after the season as they said he didn't have anything to prove in College Football as he's done it all already.
