^_^;

I'll get some screenshots as soon as I actually take some. I've been having so much fun playing the game, I completely forgot about posting some screenshots up.

Well since I couldn't be bothered waiting for it to be released next year I decided to go against everyone's better judgement and buy Star Wars Galaxies. To be honest, I really don't see what everyone's problem with this game is because I am thoroughly enjoying it and finding it one of the most adictive games I've ever played.

Sorry if this detracts from original purpose of thread save fromt the fact that it's another MMORPG, mind you this is a Star Wars community of forums and the reason I did end up buying Galaxies was because I found out how long it will be until WoW comes out so I guess this is very relevent. :mneh

Anyways, I think one of the main reasons I'm enjoying this more than your average Joe is because I joined my clan's guild in the game and am constantly using Teamspeak and/or Ventrilo which gives any game a whole new dimension. I'm currently a master marksman working my way up through the bounty hunter and pistoleer trees quite steadily. A pox on you cretins for not liking it.

Like I said before: Most people are completely enamoured by their first foray into the world of MMORPGs. If you have no grounds for comparison, you'll probably think it's the greatest thing ever.

Glad you're enjoying it (seriously :)). But I expect a little more from the games I pay a monthly fee for.

I'm too poor and too cool for these monthly pay nerdoramas. Thanks though :)

<---in beta

Isn't it fun! I haven't been playing much, though. Only have a level 13 Tauren Shaman and level 9 Human Paladin.

I will either try to get my grimey little paws on a beta copt of WoW and check it out for myself, it's just that my SWG friends said they lost interest quite quickly but admittedly it was the prospect of WoW which got me interested in MMORPGs in the first place. I'm sure there are better but for now, I'm happy and it's Star Wars. :)

What server Dru?

Personally, I am rather put off by Blizzards decision to deny Europeans access to American servers. That alone is good enough reason for me not subscribing to WoW. I also heard some people getting quickly bored with Wow etc. Even though if it does turn out to be great, Im getting rather tired of MMORPGs in general. Theire such massive time sinks. Maybe I will move on to something else.

A pox on you cretins for not liking it

Hey, I like it :)

Although, the lure tends to wear out after nearly a year playing it.

MMORPGs are only fun when you have a bunch of friends to group with. Otherwise they're just somewhat boring singleplayer affairs.

That's one of the reasons I like WoW, it promotes grouping and has an easy to work with communication system. It also helps that the quest system rocks.

Dru - You're in SWG??? Dude! Like Tondry said... what server???

Khendon - You better gimme your characters names so I can find ya. (I dunno how peacefully your Tauren would be with my Night Elf, but I know your Human would be nice.):)

P.S. Screenshots still forthcoming. I have some, just need to load em up to my site and post em up.

lol. I think I'd have to agree, Taurens and Night Elves aren't a good mix.

My paladin's name is Ahrydune (named after a god from one of the DnD campaigns I made) and my Tauren's name is Thanatos.

Alrighty. I'll be on tonight and I expect to see you :p

I've also created some characters from the Horde (I wanna try em all out ^_^; )

Anyways, hope to see ya some time. :)

PM me if you have a time you'll be on tonight.

Haven't pre-ordered WoW yet. I'm waiting for a definite release date.

As for Battlefront... already have it. :p

Well ^_^; it looks like a release date is circulating. I checked several sites (GameSpy, GameStop, GameSpot (they say Quarter 4 of this year)) , and everyone seems to have one date: 11/15/2004

I'm still checking Blizzard and the official WoW website for what they have to say... but the heck with it! Here's hoping it IS 11/15/2004. :D :rollin

(Of course, knowing Blizzard, it might be later than the date given.)

Once again, you mudda beehatches get a game I really want to play months before us. We wont be getting WoW until about March I think.

Only thing that makes me sad is that I don't think Blizzard is going to let the Eurpoeans play on the US servers or vise versa (i think soemone mentioned this earlier).

Kinda sucks. :\

It's VERY possible sign-ups for the WoW open beta will begin either this weekend or next week. Here's why I think this:

Sign-up and Account Creation Deactivation - Caydiem on 10/13/04
On Friday, October 15, the servers that handle both sign-ups and account creation will come down in preparation for Web-infrastructure updates. If you have a beta key that you have not yet activated, we strongly recommend you do so before Friday. You will be unable to create a closed beta account once we deactivate these services. As always, thank you for being patient with us while we work to bring you the best experience we can deliver.

Update: Extended Server Maintenance - Caydiem on 10/14/04
The World of Warcraft closed beta servers will be coming down for scheduled maintenance on Thursday, October 14 through Friday, October 15. On Thursday, the downtime will begin at 10:00AM PDT and will continue through the day and into Friday. The maintenance should be completed at approximately 6:00PM PDT on Friday evening. We deeply apologize for the extended downtime. Thank you very much for continuing to bear with us as we craft the best game we possibly can -- your help is always appreciated!

The only reason I can think of them deactivating unactivated closed beta accunts is to initialize the open beta accounts (That's the whole point of sign-ups. hey'll be giving the open beta testers new account keys).

Also, such a lengthy server downtime that has also put the character databases on a downtime as well can also mean they're getting ready to have a horde of new beta testers in for the open beta.

So, for those of you looking forward to this game, or just wanting to try out the (free) open beta, best to keep an eye out on the official WoW website: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/

I'll also try to keep you guys posted.

As for me, I was looking forward to playing tonight, but that won't be happening. And to make maters worse, tomorrow is my day off from work and I was looking to playing WoW all day. Not gonna happen now. Bummer man.

Oh well.

I'm going to assume you're poking me for some screenshots? :p

Ok, here are some... more to come as soon as the servers are back up.

My Night Elf character. I think she's purdy. (http://server.panic.hopto.org/swf/rie/misc/WoW/NEcharacter.jpg)

One of these days, I will have a pretty kitty like this one... and I'll be able to ride it too. (http://server.panic.hopto.org/swf/rie/misc/WoW/BigKitty.jpg)

They have some awesome fountains, beautiful graphics, and vibrant colors. (The water's also fun to frolic in.) (http://server.panic.hopto.org/swf/rie/misc/WoW/ShowerAnyone.jpg)

This is what happens when you die... you become a GHOST! (http://server.panic.hopto.org/swf/rie/misc/WoW/ShesDeadJim.jpg)

When logging off, I always find myself an inn so I can rest my pretty little head on a soft feathery bed. (http://server.panic.hopto.org/swf/rie/misc/WoW/SleepyTime.jpg)

Wow... servers are STILL down and not expected to be up and running till mid-morning tomorrow, 10/16. All the same, I'm not holding my breath. :grumble

Oh, and just as an aside, I pre-ordered the add-on to SWG, Jump To Lightspeed, and got my special beta testing CD today. So I'll also be beta testing JTL. ^_^;

Closed BETA has ended while I was out galavanting in the UK. :cry

But, this means I am eligible to enter into the final stress test BETA before the Open BETA is set free!

As always, I'll keep you guys and gals informed (especially for those wanting a peak and taste at WoW)! :D

More news to come from www.worldofwarcraft.com

I checked out the stress test stuff, and it seems to appear you have to subscribe to FilePlanet in order to enter into the stress test. I have still to find a way around that (very cheap).

EDIT: Oh, nm. I found the Blizzard downloader for the stress test beta. They were hiding it from me. ^_^;

But, there is good news. WoW is officially slated to be released November 23, 2004. Just in time for Thanksgiving (as predicted).

Also, you HAVE to check out the new cinematic trailer for the game: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/trailer/
I positively LOVE it!

As for Open Beta, I have hunch (especially with final stress test going on now, and an official release date set) that it will start no later than 11/15. I'll be watching the site religiously to see when sign-ups begin.

I'll most likely start a new thread letting ppl know when the Open Beta sign-ups have started.
