Picking the Phins over the Pats? Thats a huge upset.....don't forget the game is in Razor Blade Stadium, the team hasn't lost there since 2002.

Jamal Lewis is headed for a 2 game vacation thanks to his plea bargain. It won't start this Sunday, but it's still going to hurt the Ravens big time.

Man I can't pick them this year to save my life.

Go pats! 19 Straight, thats a incredible number by NFL Terms, heck thats a huge number in Baseball or Basketball.

They were ugly today, offense didn't do much but they still pulled it out. Hopefully they'll get a few of their WR's back for next game against the Seahawks, they're gonna need them.

Dillon is still looking great, almost had another 100yd game and didn't get a ton of caries, I wonder if they're holding him back or if he was injured....

Cripse!

The Bills are killing me this season. 3 of their losses all under 3 points. >< Grah.

Ah well, I so called the Lions/Falcons game.

good grief... I get both Detriot and San Diego right, but then Arizona, Carolina and Seattle choke late to screw up my week.

How 'bout that numba 37?

I'm flipping back in forth between MNF and the yearly Braves home playoff meltdown, so I've missed much of the football game. But damn, from what I have seen, Green Bay's defense looks like it's phoning it in. The Titans are running all over them and at Lambeau. Still early, but considering how poorly the Packers have played at home this season, this looks like a long night for GB.

Figrin D'an
Oct 11th, 2004, 08:06:53 PM
I'm about ready to phone it in on Green Bay's season myself. Good lord, they haven't look this bad since about 1989.

$20 says Sherman will lose his general managers position at the end of the season.

Jedieb
Oct 11th, 2004, 09:02:54 PM
At the very least he should lose the GM position. The Packers had some high expectations going into this season. This makes what, their 3rd loss at home already? On the other end of the spectrum, no one expected the Giants to do anything but flounder. Warner was suppose to get beaten to a pulp and Manning would end up starting by mid season, yet they're 4-1 to GB's 1-4. The numbers are bad enough, but when you consider what was expected of each of these teams it just makes it worse. Sorry, Fig. Keep your chin up, neither one of us is as bad off as our resident Fins fan! ;)

That's true, although at least Fins fans knew that this season was going to be hell for them. Like you said, the Packers and their fans had pretty high expectations for this season (Favre himself said "It's Super Bowl or bust."), and while the chances of that might have been a bit slim, no one expected them to be this bad. A swiss-cheese defense, a Pro-Bowl running back whose fumbling demons have returned... almost everything is going wrong for them this year, and I'm afraid that if they don't go on a run in the second half of the season and at least show that they have potential to be a playoff team next season, Favre may decide that he doesn't want to go through a rebuilding process and will retire.

At least the college season is going well for me, 'cause just about everything about the NFL season, including my fantasy team, has gone into the crapper already.

What a game yesterday. Against my better judgement, I stayed up late to watch it on TV. I never imagined GB would be so royally smacked up by the Titans. That team got some serious problems. How many turnovers were there, 6 or so? No wonder the crowds went home. I may not know much about american football, but it seems to me GB have all the signs of a team on a downward spiral. I doubt it will reach the playoffs.

On a lighter note, good to see Im doing well in both fantasy league and the pickems. Victory smells extra sweet when Im beating you yankees on your home turf (bwahahaha). Let me know if you need some advise on your sport from swfans future NFL 'expert'.. ;)

Pack are definetly in the tank, them going as far as they did last year was a bit of a fluke but still no one expected this year to be like this. 3 150+ Yard rushers at home....ouch

Don't worry Yog, its still early! :)

Nathanial K'cansce

I'm doing decently well both here and fantasy.

My other fantasy team, though, went into monday winning by at least 8 points. I ended up losing by 6. :( My team there is better than 1-4.

Syren Wyssholt
Oct 12th, 2004, 08:09:31 AM
I'm doing much better in my fantasy league, than I'm doing here. I'm 5 - 0 there. Playing in the fantasy league is slowly helping me learn a bit more about football. In fact, this fantasy league has actually made me *want* to watch football just so I can YAY when someone on my fantasy team gets me some points! :D Cyrel's accomplished what he has set out to do and that is to get me interested in football to the point of at least wanting to watch it with him. In fact, I uttered the words he has longed to hear just the other night: "Honey, I want to watch some football!" :lol

Still, this Pick 'Em is fun to participate in. Now, if I could only learn enough about football to be able to make wiser, better picks o_O

JMK
Oct 12th, 2004, 08:24:18 AM
It seems as though there are no more "wise" picks. Heck, I think every major newspaper in north america has an animal making picks in pick 'em pools, and beating many so-called experts in the process. This is the wackiest league in sports.

At least you didn't pick the wrong week's picks... :lol I've been sucking pretty badly at this too - there aren't too many safe picks this time, a lot of it comes down to the luck of the draw... At least I'm doing a lot better in my yahoo fantasy league than here - I can't pick the teams, but my players are doing pretty well for me...

The level of play is strong this year. Bring the A-game or else. David Carr is averaging more yards a game than Peyton Manning and the Chargers are #2 in scoring. Cripes.

jjwr
Oct 13th, 2004, 06:07:57 AM
I wouldn't call it strong.....its very up and down, a scant few teams have been consistenly good - Colts, Pats and Eagles.

A lot of teams are solid, winning most of the times though not spectacularly - Seahawks, Jets, Falcons, Vikings

Then you have a huge mass of teams who look like they could win any given week or get blown out, most of the league falls into this category, once great teams like the Rams, Titans, Ravens, Texans.

Its so hard to pick...

JMK
Oct 13th, 2004, 07:16:57 AM
I have to say that in my defense, I've been paying considerably less attention to the NFL this season, I've just had plenty of other cool things to do on sundays this year than in the past couple years, so I haven't really had the time to spend an entire sunday afternoon on the couch. As a result I really don't have a good grasp of what's going on this year, but I figured that if I literally guess most of the games then I should still do alright. I guessed wrong! :lol

They're contending this year. Not really record wise, or for a playoff spot, but they are no pushover by far. Look what they did to the Vikings.

I think that's why he put them with once great teams. Or, if you count the Houston team from years ago. They were good. :p

I think that this season is extremely sad for the packers because
their team is not doing very well because Brett Varve is getting pretty old.

The Broncos are my favorite team and I thought they're doing
suprisingly well whiththeir 5 and o winning street.
