well I can't wait to see if the Niners can win ONE. I'm rooting for them today, after being traitorous the last three weeks and picking against them. I just have a feeeeeeling that they might pull one out. ONE.

Cyrel Annat

Well, with Marts' track record so far this year, the Niners may just be the recipient of another of his many blunders.

Nathanial K'cansce

That was an ugly, yet impressive drive by the Bills. batch the punt, but get 43 yards for the first down. Drew puts it up, Moulds catches it in the endzone to put the Bills up!

Though NE is challenging the play. It was a catch, deal with it. :p

Tough game for the Pats, Bills are playing tough!

Lots of penalties, that last one where Dillon almost fumbled for the 2nd time, that was probably a fumble. I hate that rule though, if the play is called dead you can't challenge, even if its wrong. Its BS, yeah it would have cost the Pats in that case but its still bogus.

Pats up 24-17.......

True, they keep getting breaks.

They missed one there though, that would played right into their luck, fumble but then get the ball back after another fumble and touchback.

The Giants didn't win because of Warner. They won because Tiki Barber ran wild, and because Green Bay can't play defense.

Pfft. It's all about Kurt Warner. He is the man. The NFL was really wild today as Arizona ... had a lopsided victory.

Miami, I think.

Jedieb
Oct 3rd, 2004, 06:41:26 PM
I thought the Packers would be sure to bouncd back after last week. I was stunned to see them drop another game at Lambeau. Their defense blitzes way too much and that secondary really couldn't afford to lose whatever dreadlocked corner they have holding out. The Giants are playing much better than I ever thought they would. That offensive line is the key. They're not great, but they're not as horrible as many thought they would be. That Giants/Cowboys game is going to be a tough one to pick next week. If it were at the Meadowlands I'd pick the Gaints in a heartbeat.

Jacksonville really impressed me today. They lost, but they played the Colts tough. The Colts have some serious problems on defense. They made soem key stops, but the Jags were able to move the ball on them consistently. I think the Jags can easily make the playoffs this year. One of the reasons being how weak the AFC West has become. I never know which Raiders team is going to show up to play. The Chargers really put a beating on them and that's just plain wrong.

The Dolphins are just sad to watch. Every game has been the same. The defense keeps them in the game and you just end up feeling sorry for them. Yet another Dolphin QB throws a TD pass, for his OPPONENT. Are they trying to set an NFL record?

On a bright note, did everyone see the highlights of Emmit's big day? Over 120yds, TD's rushing AND passing. Good for him. Only the 5th back in NFL history to rush for over 100yds over the age of 35.

Tonight we may see that the Niners are truly wretched. If they get dominated by the Rams at home I won't shed a tear. But on that slower surface I wouldn't be surprised if Martz forgets yet again that he's got a guy named Marshall Faulk on his team. Putz.

Jedi Master Carr
Oct 3rd, 2004, 06:43:05 PM
LOL the Pats will kill them. What is sadder is they will beat the one of the teams that is tied for the record.

Ryan Pode
Oct 3rd, 2004, 06:45:46 PM
I think, it be funny if the Pat's lost.

Cyrel Annat
Oct 3rd, 2004, 07:00:21 PM
Thus far, the gameplan of the Rams seems sound. A healthy dose of Marshall. In truth, the guy is so good - even as he's getting up there in years for an RB - that there really should not even be thought put behind this decision. And until the Niners can prove that they can stop him, I'd keep doing the same thing. Marshall outside right, Marshall inside left. For a lark, swing pass to Marshall.

In other news, an impressive win for Arizona. Granted, it was against the Aints, but it's nice to see Dennis Green's work out there finally pay off since they really have not played bad football this season. They still won't win many games, at least not until Boldin comes back to give McCown another threat, but good on them for giving the home crowd something to really cheer about. And the venerable one still has some miles left as was seen today.

On a side note about the Niners, who is their kicker that they opted to punt from the Rams' 30 rather than attempt a FG?

Jedieb
Oct 3rd, 2004, 07:53:06 PM
24-0 going into halftime. This is just sad. The Nines look simply wretched. They're going to be battling Miami for next year's top draft pick.

I'm tempted to pick Miami next week. The organization has a lot of pride when it comes to the 72 team and its records. If the game were at Miami I would pick them. But the Dolphin offense isn't just anemic, it's prone to to mistakes. No defense in the league capitalizes on mistakes better than the Pats. Fieldler or Feely is sure to throw a TD pass to Bruski or some other oppurtunistic Pat defender.

jjwr
Oct 3rd, 2004, 09:30:41 PM
It does figure that the Pats would have to beat Miami for the record, while its not the 17-0 single season record it does affect that teams overall record and closing in on the longest regular season streak.

If it was in Miami I would worry a lot more, as teh game is in Gillette the Pats should win it....but you never know :)

The Packers are falling apart, the team was overrated to begin with so its just catching up to them. That division is the Vikings to lose.

Giants looked ok, I still can't see them as a playoff team though.

My picks are really sucking, I can't seem to get in a groove this year.

My picks were bad today. >_<

Figrin D'an
Oct 3rd, 2004, 10:44:23 PM
It's been a hard season to pick so far in general. It seems like parity is even more rampant than in past seasons. Outside of a few of teams that look really good (New England, Philly, Seattle, Indy), it's becoming hard to get a good read on the rest of the league. The next couple of weeks will help to sort things out, but still... it's been rather topsy-turvy so far everywhere except those four franchises I mentioned.

Even if you aren't a Ravens or Chiefs fan, I'd watch the game, as there will be some records set.

Jedieb
Oct 4th, 2004, 08:19:02 PM
Wow, the Chiefs are playing their best game of the year. That last TD by Holmes puts them up 17-10. I thought they'd get dominated at a hostile Raven's den, but they're more than holding their own. On offense, the Ravens should be able to keep putting up points, but it there's an offense the Chiefs' D should be able to slow down a bit, it's the Ravens.

Jedieb
Oct 4th, 2004, 09:32:41 PM
The Chiefs are going to give up some yards and points this last quarter. Lewis is just starting to run over Chiefs left and right. But I haven't seen anyone run on the Ravens like this in years. The Chiefs have been running up and down the field on that mighty Ravens D and it's opened up the play action pass for Green. Baltimore may score now, but they haven't been able to stop the Chiefs for much of the game. Let's see if the Chiefs can put together another drive this 4th quarter, if they do the game's over.

Jedi Master Carr
Oct 4th, 2004, 10:11:46 PM
The Chiefs defense came up big twice in the 4th. They had to win this game. Now they have a bye week so they can rest up and try to go on a win streak. They are still capable of making the playoffs, IMO.

Chiefs next 5 or 6 games are really tough games, even if they win 4 of 6 that still puts them at 5-5, which isn't horrible but doesn't leave much margin for error.

The team can obviously play well but it doesn't look consistent enough.

On the bright side it only gave up 17 points to the mighty Ravens offense :)

Master Yoghurt
Oct 5th, 2004, 04:49:19 AM
Yay, Im in the lead :D

I saw the game yesterday, and it was interesting/exciting, but I hated all the commercial breaks intervening all the time. Is it normal to have those breaks in the middle of a quarter?

It seemed like a really close game. I think what won Chiefs the game was an extra effort from the defense. They must have realised they wont reach the playoffs only with their offense, they need a decent defense as well.

JMK
Oct 5th, 2004, 06:45:50 AM
So what's worse about last night's game? The fact that the Ravens had the ball for nearly 40 minutes and only won by 3, or the fact that K.C.'s defense stank so horribly that they couldn't get the ball back?

Then again, if you're Baltimore's defense and you give up 24 points in giving the Chiefs minimal possession time, how good is your defense? Not very, at least not last night.

Jedi Master Carr
Oct 5th, 2004, 09:20:25 AM
Kyle you got the score wrong heh. KC won 27-24, they won by three. KC had the ball for like 40 minutes. I think it was a big win. Who knows what they will do in the next 6 games, sure they are tough but they could real off 5 wins in that stretch. Also the hardest games are at home which will help them.

JMK
Oct 5th, 2004, 11:59:48 AM
Yeah my bad. I've still got to ask the same questions though.

How good is KC if they only outscore the Ravens by 3 while having possession for nearly 20 minutes longer?

And is Baltimore's defense going downhill? It sounds like they gave up one sustained drive after the other.

Jedi Master Carr
Oct 5th, 2004, 12:21:35 PM
Well they should have scored TD's instead of FG's those two times then it would have been 35-24. The reason why they held the ball so long was very long drives. Four of their drives were over 10 plays one was 14 and one was 13 those two drives I think added up to like 16 minutes of clock. They basically played keep away which was probably the best thing do against Jamal Lewis. Still the defense played very good. 7 of the points came on a Punt return and 7 other points on trick play. There was only that one drive where Lewis went wild that the defense looked bad, IMO.

JMK
Oct 5th, 2004, 02:05:59 PM
So basically the Ravens were lucky to even be in yesterday's game? Their offense was weak at best save for a flea flicker and a punt return, and their defense couldn't make a play? I wonder if the Jamal Lewis thing is becoming a distraction for them?

Jedieb
Oct 5th, 2004, 03:30:08 PM
The Chiefs had every reason to phone that game in last week and end their season. I thought they put together a very good road win against a tough defense. They did what they had to do and now they actually have a shot at making the playoffs. The AFC West is still pretty weak and I can see the Chiefs being able to pull it out with 9 or 10 wins. But I think they may have a hard time getting a shot at any WC spots. I see too many good AFC teams that can put up 10 or 11 wins and still not win their divisions.

Ryan Pode
Oct 5th, 2004, 03:48:24 PM
Well, Baltimore's injuries finally caught up. The lack of Todd Heap was quite apparent when reserve tight end Terry Jones dropped a few passes that were easy catches. That's a reason Baltimore couldn't sustain drives. Another big problem was the lack of their Center, Mike Flynn as Eric Hicks and the other fat guy on KC's line would plow over the Raven's backup center getting too much pressure.

Now, defensively, Baltimores defense is still trying to work out the kinks as two of their lineman missed much time from injury, as well as Pete Boulware being gone, and Chris McAlister trying to get into football shape as he was a holdout for most of training camp.

And remember, there is a reason why Kansas City's offense has half-a-dozen pro-bowlers, because they can make plays and score. They knew the way to beat the Ravens was converting on third down. Which they did, and thats why the Ravens lost.

Edit: Don't blame Jamal Lewis, it's not his fault. He was trying to set the tone, but the other 10 guys didn't follow. Especially in fourth quarter drives. He had one run where he carried two guys on his back for about 8 yards.

jjwr
Oct 5th, 2004, 05:16:28 PM
The Ravens have never had a great offense, in last nights game the defense didn't set the tone and the offense isn't good enough to carry the team on its own.

Ryan Pode
Oct 5th, 2004, 07:11:48 PM
The Defensive line got pushed around, same thing happens in the Titans game. Pete Boulware + Terrell Suggs + Ray Lewis = enough men needed to be covered to allow the undersized line to make plays.

Jamal Lewis will go to jail, and be suspended for 2 games.

So let's see if I have this right:

Ricky Williams would be suspended at least 4 games for filling up with weed...several times.

Martha Stewart serves 5 months in jail for messing around with money and lying.

Jamal Lewis gets 4 months and ONLY 2 games for dabbling in the cocaine industry????

Does this seem off to anyone else?
