It will be undeniably interesting. I have a friend whose favorite director is Mel Brooks.

Your assignment is to go find a copy and watch it. You won't be disappointed.

I'm worried. Are there really enough jokes in the two prequels for a sequel?

I think there are twice as many jokes and opportunities for parody in the the prequels than the OT put together..

That have all already been done. What NEW jokes are there?

All I can say is that Mel better stick with models and props and costumes and ditch CGI for it. Staying old school is definitely the way to go, and will earn many a repeat viewing from me.

I don't see why you are concerned about this. There were plenty of other films/TV shows/media that made jokes and did little parodies of the OT for years, well before Brooks did Spaceballs, and the film still proved to be funny and entertaining. People had 10 years to come up with jokes about Star Wars, yet he still found new ones to make his own parody much more funny.

I'm willing to give him a pass and believe that he can do the same this time around, too.

Could this be funny? Yes, but I've got my concerns. Basically, it's Mel's recent track record. His last few comedies have been brutal. The Dracula flick with Leslie Nielson and Steven Webber had a couple of decent gags, but it just wasn't that funny. His slide started with Robin Hood: Men in Tights. He's made some of my favorite comedies; Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, History of the World Part I, and of course Spaceballs, but those were decades ago.

Yeah that is what worries me too. Mel Brooks hasn't made a really funny film in years.

"Robin Hood: Men in Tights" was funny. Cmon. The shifting mole, the chastity belt, the evil witch having the hots for the Sheriff of ROTTINGHAM, Achoo, Little John drowning in the stream? Cmon. Comedy gold.

I thought Costner's hair and English accent were funnier. It wasn't horrible, but it was a huge drop off from his earlier classics. I always wished Mel would have made a sequel to HOTW Part I. What I wouldn't give to see "Jews in Space!!!" :crack

That's such a redundant remark. What new jokes are there? Well, if we knew that then we wouldn't need to go and see his film. The only person who can truly answer that in relation to a Spaceballs sequel is Brooks himself when he delivers his movie.

Answer is so obvious, I dont understand why you posted. See Dru or Figrin for correct answer.

Oh man, please let this happen. and on the off chance it's actually up to Spaceballs standard, it'll rule.

Men in tights was bad to you?

Were you stoned out? That movie was absolutely hilarious. Carey Elews (sp) was great. and the cameo by patrick stewart was awesome.

I love Men In Tights, so many great parts.

I personally can't wait to see what he could do with a Space Balls Part 2
