The past week had been pretty hectic. Since meeting Daria, Naj probably hadnt spent more than an hour away from her. He had already spent a little bit of time with her, helping her learn Basic. The time he had spent away from her was mostly spent reading, trying to figure out what had gone wrong in his first alchemy experiment. From everything he'd read, his experiment should have been a success. The instability of the metal, which caused it to explode, however, contridicted this. All the research had tired him some, so he tried to put it out of his mind for now. When he'd last seen Daria, she'd gone about exploring rooms that Naj hadnt messed with inside the tower. To help clear his own mind, Naj had melted down a few old swords from one of the armories and crafted himself another staff. It wasnt decorative, but it worked.
After letting the metal cool, Naj took his new weapon outside, and after going through a few basic exercises he'd learned with a staff on Csilla, he decided to try something new.
Naj tossed the staff a few feet in front of him. After staring at it for a moment, The Chiss Hybrid closed his eyes and stretched his arm out forward, opening his hand as if to catch something. He concentrated, picturing the staff leaving the ground and to his hand.
The first few times he did this, the staff did nothing. His concentration was shot, he was still dwelling on his failed experiment. Ater about five minutes though, he'd been able to push this from his mind completely, moving the staff with his mind became his primary concern.
Once again, he closed his eyes and reached out. A few moments later, the staff moved slightly, just barely turning toward Naj. When Naj opened his eyes and saw the staff laying in a different position, he reached back out, this time keeping his eyes open, focusing on the staff....

The more he focused on the staff, the closer it seemed to get. Not physically, but mentally. It was almost as if he could feel the energy around the staff. By this point, Naj had put himself in such extreme focus, that someone could have walked right up to him, pulled a knife, sharpened it and stabbed him, and Naj would have been none the wiser. He had placed himself mentally in a new realm, where only he and his staff existed.
Between himself and his staff, he could almost see a bridge of energy. It was if he was making a unique connection to the staff. When the bridge seemed complete, Naj pulled his hand back. The wave of energy moved with it, and the staff flew toward him somewhat, bouncing off the ground and turning end over end, landing a few feet from its original spot....

Naj stepped a few steps back. It was fortunate that he was out in the open at the time, as he didnt even give a thought to what might be behind him. He tried tugging at the staff with the force again, but instead of coming to him, it merely drug along the ground, ever so often, it would fly forward some, but even then, it only came in his general direction, rather than to him.
In this extreme concentration, he could sense the force around him, but manipulating it was something totally different. Frustration only fueled his focus though, as he tried harder and harder. He would accept nothing other than complete success, everytime the staff would get close, and still not fly to his hand, he would back away slowly and try again, determined to make it behave as he wanted.

For nearly an hour, the process repeated itself. The staff would fly toward Naj, but not to his hand. Naj would back away and try again. A few near successes was enough to keep his determination up, and his frustration level dangerously near its peak.
He cursed mentally as he kept on. His concentration was slipping. He was becoming physically tired, as the extreme focus was taking attention away from his body. In his frustration, he drew his arm back quickly. The energy bridge between himself and the staff quickly closed, as the staff flew to him....
And hit him directly on his right shin.

Naj fell to the ground clutching his leg, letting various curses flow freely as all the built frustration from his practice was now being liberated. After a few moments, Naj grabbed the staff and stood. He was determined to do this, and he would keep on until he was successful. This time, he tossed the staff in front of him and stretched his arm out again. He quickly fell back into his focused state again, forgetting his surroundings. With a renewed determination, he pulled the staff as before, this time, concentrating on making it drift upward in midflight. Frustration was still heavy on his mind though, and it was apparant with how quickly the staff flew through the air.
A split second seemed to slow to an eternity, as the staff traveled, gliding upward as it flew into the air, straight over Naj's outstretched hand, and bouncing right off the Chiss Hybrid's forehead.
Everything went black as Naj fell, himself and the staff hitting the ground at the same time, and neither moving afterward.

The wrar ambled up to the fallen Sith, a mix of curious and agitated. It growled low as it drew closer with a racoon-like gait. Rows of sharp, pointed quills stood out from its back. It looked like a bit like a wolverine crossed with a racoon and a porcupine.
It slowly circled Naj twice, waiting for the funny smelling thing to move, but it lay intert. The wrar tenatively pawed Naj with its prehensile forepaws, and then walked on top of him and sat, all 20 kilos of it.
Whatever it was, the wrar had decided it belonged to him now. It was also very boring, not havaing moved for the past minute. But it was warm... the wrar yawned and stared to scratch behind a pointy ear with a rear paw.

Naj's eyes fluttered open slightly as he started to regain consciousness. His head throbbed with pain, and he could distinctly feel a knot forming on his forehead.
He started to sit up, feeling as if he had an enormous weight on him. Then he felt something move.....
He opened his eyes slowly and was now face to face with a creature he'd never seen before. Reflexes took over, and Naj jerk over, causing the creature to fall off of him as he quickly scrambled backward, trying to get to his feet.

The wrar was quickly on its feet, and hunkered to the ground. Its top coat of spikes puffed out menacingly. It growled, three inch canines bared.
It began to circle, spiky tail flicking back and forth. The thing was larger than originally observed. Still, the wrar was obligated to defend it's territory.

Naj found himself in a curious position. Instead of the creature running away, it was now circling, clearly issueing a challenge. Naj didnt move, not wanting to provoke the creature further, and still trying to stop from conveying fear.
"It's ok...Im not going to hurt you."
Of course, it was daft to think that the creature understood him, but Naj's tone and mannerisms were non threatening, and thats what counted..

The wrar stopped, somewhat uncertain. It was time to test this big thing.
It hissed, reared back, and jumped forward. Naj jumped backward.
Satisfactory. It sat, but was still wary of whatever Naj was.

Naj quirked an eyebrow at the creature. It seemed the beast was native to the planet, judging from its territorial behavior. It wasnt likely that it had rode in on anyone's ship without them knowing, lest it had happened right when the Krath came to Koros Major.
Strangely enough, the creature had moved to attack, but stopped when Naj stepped back, almost as if it were content that Naj wasnt trying to invade its territory. Somewhat confused, Naj started toward his staff, making sure to give the creature a wide berth.

The wrar again scratched behind it's ear, but kept an eye on Naj.
The newfound territory was moving, then it picked up an odd looking branch. How very odd. Something was afoot with the blueish thingy.
Wrar shook itself, the quills rubbing together down it's back, giving a nice back scratch without the problem of stabbing.

The creature didnt seem to mind Naj's presence very much at this point. Even still, it wasnt safe to practice while the creature was around. Theres no telling how it would react.
With his staff in hand, Naj started back on his way toward his tower...

For the life of it, the wrar couldn't figure out why Naj was carrying around the weird tree branch. That was the only thing funnier than the blue and gray thingy. Yes, you have to move branches sometimes, but it was like he had a favorite branch or something. Only rajjers have favorite branches.
Naj was part rajjer?

Naj stopped at the side door leading into his tower. Upon glancing behind him, he noticed the quilled creature was following him. This was weird, for the fact that the beast didnt look or act hungry.
Was Naj really that comfortable?
