Under the moonless sky a figure vaults from the balcony of the Iron Citadel. Clad in tight cloaking with a traveling bag beneath his outer covering robes, the vampire descends onto the damp turf below. As his boots dig into the ground he glances back up at the shell of the building behind him. No emotion is present in his expression though it is evident to any Force user that his thoughts are in turmoil.
For Salem sitting stagnantly has grown too much. Not a leader, most certainly, and not willing to sit by and do nothing, he has decided to take his leave of the place – complete – and begins the journey towards where the Krath’s only ships are docked.

Naj was exiting the place that Salem had helped him pick out for his new residence on Koros Major. The building was an old watch tower. It wasnt very large, but still offered a fair view of the vacant city. He had been working on moving some of his more vital lab components in. Most of the rooms were left un-explored, though one had been cleaned thoroughly, til the metallic walls were gleaming. As he walked out of the building, he spotted Salem walking toward the docks. He jogged for a minute or so til he caught up with the Vampyre...

Salem stopped short a moment as his mind flickered through the possible actions he could take at this point to ward off the curious chiss.
“Thi-sss is a prrrivate mission, Naj.”
Carrying on walking, he pulled at his cloak as he slipped off of his shoulders, dragged down by his heavy bag. What he’d taken was only essentials, and what he’d left behind was currently up in smoke in his study.
“I won’t be coming back.”

"What are you talking about?...Explain this to me."
The thought that Salem could have turned against them was completely ignored by Naj. In fact, it sounded to him that Salem's mission was more along the lines of a suicide mission..

A one handed swipe Salem seized Naj up by the throat, claws tightening around his windpipe. Lifting him up to eye level, the apprentice was almost a whole foot off the ground.

Naj's hands grasped around Salem's wrists, and he pulled up slightly to ease the weight on his neck. Though he was fairly weak, he was light.
"Your impatience sickens me Salem...."
Naj rarely referred to the Vampyre by his - its - first name, but with his attitude truly showing, Naj couldnt bring himself to refer to Salem with the respectful title of Master. He gathered up what saliva he could and disrespectfully spat on the vampyre's face...

Salem brought his cloak sleeve up and wiped it across his face. Immediately he turned and began to walk again, this time much more briskly, muttering curses to himself.

With all the speed he could muster Naj ran after Salem again. Even in his rage, he knew he couldnt take the vampyre down with any kind of punch or kick, so as he got a few feet away, Naj dove shoulder first toward the backs of Salem's knees...

Sensing what was about to hit him, but not quickly enough, Salem turned to find Naj ploughing into him. The suddenness of all of it caught him off guard and he toppled, falling backwards – flailing about lanky limbs as he did so. Once he hit the floor he threw out a hand, clawing fiercely.

One swipe ripped across Naj's chest as he sprung onto the Vampyre. He didnt even feel it, he was too angry. As quickly as he could, he jumped on Salem's chest, throwing an arm up to block the Vampyre's claw as he brought his free hand down as hard as he could to the bridge of Salem's nose. Blood flowed from the cuts across his chest, and now from several gashes on his arms.
It was nearly unnoticed to him though, as he started to wail away at Salem's face.

His knees rose and in one sharp push drove against Naj’s ribcage. For Salem whose face was usually absent of any expression he was showing a lot of his emotion now, fangs bared and young face creased with rage.

Naj flew back from the push and coughed a bit as he landed. He felt the hit, but it didnt register in his mind, although it did succeed in slowing him down some. He glanced over to see a small case that had fallen out of his pocket. He rolled over to his hands and knees to push himself back up, sneakily opening the case and withdrawing its contents as he did.
Salem was already on his feet and coming toward Naj by now, as Naj quickly rose to his feet...

Naj's eyes tensed even more as Salem began choking him. This time, he felt everything, and his body fought back the best it could. He brought his leg up and knee'd the Vampyre square in the back, with almost no effect, aside from causing Salem to tighten his grip.
Now was his opportunity, he had to get control.
He fought the urge of his own instincts to fight against the choke. his right arm swung from the side, with the needle of the syringe pointing toward Salem. The needle embedded itself into the main artery in Salem's neck. Naj hit the button which caused it to immediately draw blood, then snatched the syringe to the side, breaking the needle off, and ripping the artery in the process...

Salem hissed and immediately snapped away from Naj. He stumbled to his feet, clamping his hand over the blood that was pooling out of his neck. Wheezing as he felt the loss draining him, he instantly took off at a run.

As Salem took off forward from where they were, Naj drug himself to his feet, and begin doing the best he could to run to the right. His ship was closer than Salem's, but in Naj's current state, he couldnt run very well. Both men reached their ship's at nearly the same time.
He immediately staggered up to the main bridge and began firing up the ship's main reactor and engines.
He also began engaging the targeting system's for the ships turbolasers...

Fumbling for a bacta pad as he boarded the ship, he held a cloth against his throat whilst starting the ship up. The shuttle’s engines roared and hissed as the auto pilot kicked in. The co-ordinates for Corellia were inputted– being the smaller of the two ships it was the quicker and thus began to take off first.

Both ships took off, with Salem getting the jump out of the dock. As he blasted toward the planet's atmosphere, the long range targetting on Mephisto automatically engaged, sending volleys of turbolaser fire in Salem's direction.
Since there were no gunners on the ship, the shots werent very accurate, but were still enough to cause Salem to have to dodge. Hopefully, Salem would be too busy trying to fix the hole in his neck, and Naj would land a lucky shot to decimate the vampyre's ship.

The ship swerved, trembling as it was hit. Salem had left the controls a moment to finished taping the gauzing and bacta pad to his neck, returning to the helm just in time to weave the craft out of the line of another shot. The craft was no built for combat and as such had no weaponry on it, leaving Salem invulnerable and only able to use his speed to out run Naj – handy if the chase got as far as the asteroid belt.

One shot hit, but it was a glancing blow, barely enough to even rock Salem's ship. They kept on, with Naj only able to score one more glancing shot, not even enough to slow Salem down.
They had already made it out of the planet's atmosphere, and were now nearing the asteroid belt. Naj quickly slowed the ship to a stop and made his way to the holocommunicator.
The hologram projector on Salem's ship came on, and the Vampyre caught sight of Naj standing there, wrapping a bandage around his arm.
"Coward...."

Salem turned to look at the flickering image, and allowed himself a smile. He leant back against the control panel and opened a return frequency, only his voice being transmitted.

Naj finished wrapping up his arm, and reached into his pocket, removing the syringe that he had broken in Salem's neck...
"I bet I could find at least a dozen different ways to kill you with this. Oh, the possibilities are endless I suppose..."
Naj grinned slightly...
"If you, or anyone associated with you, EVER even comes near the Empress Teta system, I swear to you.....You'll never see me coming..."
The syringe found its way back into Naj's pocket, and the chiss tucked his arms behind his back...
"Is that understood, Salem. Or do you need me to ssss-pell it out forrr you....."

Salem squinted slightly and evaluated this new situation.
“The sss-ecrets of the Krath will remain with me providing that nothing ever comes of that sss-ample,” he replied with an eerie out of place smile.
The channel then shut off, as Salem turned from the hologram and slid down into his seat, paying his last silent goodbyes to Koros Major and the Baffor Trees.

The thought that Salem could have turned against them was completely ignored by Naj. In fact, it sounded to him that Salem's mission was more along the lines of a suicide mission..

Naj's hands grasped around Salem's wrists, and he pulled up slightly to ease the weight on his neck. Though he was fairly weak, he was light.

Naj rarely referred to the Vampyre by his - its - first name, but with his attitude truly showing, Naj couldnt bring himself to refer to Salem with the respectful title of Master. He gathered up what saliva he could and disrespectfully spat on the vampyre's face...

Salem brought his cloak sleeve up and wiped it across his face. Immediately he turned and began to walk again, this time much more briskly, muttering curses to himself.

With all the speed he could muster Naj ran after Salem again. Even in his rage, he knew he couldnt take the vampyre down with any kind of punch or kick, so as he got a few feet away, Naj dove shoulder first toward the backs of Salem's knees...

Sensing what was about to hit him, but not quickly enough, Salem turned to find Naj ploughing into him. The suddenness of all of it caught him off guard and he toppled, falling backwards – flailing about lanky limbs as he did so. Once he hit the floor he threw out a hand, clawing fiercely.

One swipe ripped across Naj's chest as he sprung onto the Vampyre. He didnt even feel it, he was too angry. As quickly as he could, he jumped on Salem's chest, throwing an arm up to block the Vampyre's claw as he brought his free hand down as hard as he could to the bridge of Salem's nose. Blood flowed from the cuts across his chest, and now from several gashes on his arms.
It was nearly unnoticed to him though, as he started to wail away at Salem's face.

His knees rose and in one sharp push drove against Naj’s ribcage. For Salem whose face was usually absent of any expression he was showing a lot of his emotion now, fangs bared and young face creased with rage.

Naj flew back from the push and coughed a bit as he landed. He felt the hit, but it didnt register in his mind, although it did succeed in slowing him down some. He glanced over to see a small case that had fallen out of his pocket. He rolled over to his hands and knees to push himself back up, sneakily opening the case and withdrawing its contents as he did.
Salem was already on his feet and coming toward Naj by now, as Naj quickly rose to his feet...

Naj's eyes tensed even more as Salem began choking him. This time, he felt everything, and his body fought back the best it could. He brought his leg up and knee'd the Vampyre square in the back, with almost no effect, aside from causing Salem to tighten his grip.
Now was his opportunity, he had to get control.
He fought the urge of his own instincts to fight against the choke. his right arm swung from the side, with the needle of the syringe pointing toward Salem. The needle embedded itself into the main artery in Salem's neck. Naj hit the button which caused it to immediately draw blood, then snatched the syringe to the side, breaking the needle off, and ripping the artery in the process...

Salem hissed and immediately snapped away from Naj. He stumbled to his feet, clamping his hand over the blood that was pooling out of his neck. Wheezing as he felt the loss draining him, he instantly took off at a run.

As Salem took off forward from where they were, Naj drug himself to his feet, and begin doing the best he could to run to the right. His ship was closer than Salem's, but in Naj's current state, he couldnt run very well. Both men reached their ship's at nearly the same time.
He immediately staggered up to the main bridge and began firing up the ship's main reactor and engines.
He also began engaging the targeting system's for the ships turbolasers...

Fumbling for a bacta pad as he boarded the ship, he held a cloth against his throat whilst starting the ship up. The shuttle’s engines roared and hissed as the auto pilot kicked in. The co-ordinates for Corellia were inputted– being the smaller of the two ships it was the quicker and thus began to take off first.

Both ships took off, with Salem getting the jump out of the dock. As he blasted toward the planet's atmosphere, the long range targetting on Mephisto automatically engaged, sending volleys of turbolaser fire in Salem's direction.
Since there were no gunners on the ship, the shots werent very accurate, but were still enough to cause Salem to have to dodge. Hopefully, Salem would be too busy trying to fix the hole in his neck, and Naj would land a lucky shot to decimate the vampyre's ship.

The ship swerved, trembling as it was hit. Salem had left the controls a moment to finished taping the gauzing and bacta pad to his neck, returning to the helm just in time to weave the craft out of the line of another shot. The craft was no built for combat and as such had no weaponry on it, leaving Salem invulnerable and only able to use his speed to out run Naj – handy if the chase got as far as the asteroid belt.

One shot hit, but it was a glancing blow, barely enough to even rock Salem's ship. They kept on, with Naj only able to score one more glancing shot, not even enough to slow Salem down.
They had already made it out of the planet's atmosphere, and were now nearing the asteroid belt. Naj quickly slowed the ship to a stop and made his way to the holocommunicator.
The hologram projector on Salem's ship came on, and the Vampyre caught sight of Naj standing there, wrapping a bandage around his arm.
"Coward...."

The syringe found its way back into Naj's pocket, and the chiss tucked his arms behind his back...

Salem squinted slightly and evaluated this new situation.
“The sss-ecrets of the Krath will remain with me providing that nothing ever comes of that sss-ample,” he replied with an eerie out of place smile.
The channel then shut off, as Salem turned from the hologram and slid down into his seat, paying his last silent goodbyes to Koros Major and the Baffor Trees.
