The Termagent forest was old, very old. Jeseth had spoke of people aeons ago founding the Iron Citadel and planting the great forest to encompass and shroud them from the outside world. Indeed, it provided cover for the Krath and kept their presence on this planet unknown to most. With each of the trees growing to such heights as was rarely seen else where, it is hardly difficult to imagine that the Citadel could go unnoticed.

Or perhaps it was noticed.

Perhaps, one day a traveller chanced to see it, glinting on the horizon; a fleck of onyx amidst the sea of thick green and brown. Of course, mynock and vynock swept the skies of Koros Major day and night in an eternal guard of the planet. For this reason ships found it curiously difficult to pass over Cinnager.

This left only one option to who so ever should see the Citadel – to pass through the forest. Salem and the others had done this, under the watchful guide of Jeseth and Jehova. With Sith Masters spearheading their party, there was little to worry about, however an average rambler had much to be concerned over. One wrong step and he could quite literally be swallowed up by the forest…

Salem knelt, in the shadow, cradling something in his hand. A seed, a seed to grow life with. It was small, round and hard and it reflected the light from the moon as Salem passed it from hand to hand.

It truly was precious, a unique thing that could not be found elsewhere on this planet. The vampire himself had purchased it, whilst on Coruscant trawling through libraries through information. Now he intended to plant it.

"Gardening, Salem? I suppose you're going to plant a row of pretty petunias to add some color to our home?"

Coincidentally, that's exactly what's Sorreessa's doing back at his village home.

"Or does this serve a more practical purpose than decoration?"

The Knight clenched his hand around the seed, so much so that the tip would have made his palm ache.

“… Have you ever hearrrd of the Baffor Tree, Inu?”

“They… come from Ithor,” Salem replied, without looking back up at Inu.

“… and some how, they are intelligent.”

"An intelligent plant?"

Inu bites his tongue to hold back the remark he has for that little tidbit of information.

"So this is to serve a practical end."

“When the trees are grouped together, they become even more intelligent… with great numbers they equal humans in brain capacity.”

Salem looked sideways at Inu, who wore an amused smirk.

“With enough of these trees, we could have a living, breathing wall around us.”

Inu's mouth twists into an expression that's half-grimace, half-smile.

"How many apprentices do you think we'll lose to them?"

"Not half as many as you'd probably like." Came a voice from behind them as Sebastian stepped forward to meet his brethren.

"We arent all so stupid as you might think..." He added, his words carrying a hint of challenge, though very faint. Baz was relatively even tempered, and so this comment did little to faze him.

Sebastian chuckled.

“Im just giving you a hard time, Inu.” He replied, stuffing his hands into the pocket of his jacket.

“You’re so easy to get going.” He added. He hadn’t spoken much before, choosing more to watch and learn of his peers than to really interact with them. Jeseth had led him here and left him here and to some degree, he harbored a grudge for business being left unfinished.

But now that he had had this time to learn from them, his training with Cold coming along at a satisfactory pace, he was beginning to come out of his shell a bit, willing to reach out as he had not been before.

Inu half-smirks, half-chuckles.

"I've always had something of a short fuse...Sebastian, are you? What do you think of Salem's defense for our Citadel?"

"I suppose a tree is as good as any guard..." He replied after Salem's interjection.

He shrugged.

"Probably more loyal..." He added, noting the fallibility of mammals in general.

"How long will these take to grow before they're of any use?" He asked.

Salem smiled to himself, “They are not norrrmal trees, and as such thrive upon decay. I can accelerate their growth with a technique taught to me by Jeseth.”

"I consider the dark side a gift, not a poison...." He stated. His words carried pride rather than any sort of contradiction to Salem's words.

"But semantics, I suppose..." He added, crouching as Salem was to get a better look at the seed.

"So how are you to infect a seed with the darkside....even as a seed is it capable of the intelligence it supposedly has as a sapling or full grown tree? Can it feel the darkness within the one who holds it?"

Sebastian nodded a bit at Inu’s last remark.

“Ive heard of such things happening…” He responded, his gaze catching Inu’s for a moment. He didn’t know him well at all, but realized there was probably a thing or two (or more) that he could learn from him. And perhaps would put in the effort to get to know him.

“With so many of us around it so often, do you think theres a risk of over exposure?” He asked, looking back to Salem, the all knowing planter of Baffor tree seeds.

Sebastian nodded.

"Sounds like you have this pretty much thought out..." He replied, moving from where he had been bent to study the seed and raising to his full height.

He stuffed his hands in the pockets of his coat.

"How will you get them to multiply? Does it grow some sort of fruit with seeds?"
