The internet will implode for a very simple reason.

Many years from now, people will invent something better than the internet. Eventually, everything on the internet will move to this new, better thing. When that happens, it will leave gaps in the internet. When all the content goes, the internet will essentially cease to be. The internet will end through lack of content, rather than too much content. Lack of content is the cyber version of a vacuum...which will cause an implosion.
