LOL man I should have read some crowd reviews. I am not at all surprised teenagers could care less about reviews also remember Freddy vs Jason that thing made like 40 million and critics hated it.

Marcus Telcontar
Aug 15th, 2004, 06:06:46 AM
I cant believe there's that many people who dont care how bad it is.

Nor can I believe YGO stealing money from people like it has. Good grief, when a movie gets zero and slammed by everyone...... I weep for the future. What a travesty.

Jedi Master Carr
Aug 15th, 2004, 09:06:21 AM
Teenagers don't care and they make up a huge % of people who go to movies like that and heck a lot of them might like it. Yugo or what ever its called I am surprised about although they have been running commercials for it on Cartoon network for over a week.

Marcus Telcontar
Aug 15th, 2004, 03:21:23 PM
I doubt they did - have a look at the DROPS between friday and saturday! 25% for AvP and 41% for YGO! Usually, you see increases of up to 20%.

Jedi Master Carr
Aug 15th, 2004, 09:28:05 PM
Well for drops we don't know what the reasons were to be exact. Most likely in this case the teenagers rushed out to see it on Friday night after that well the adults who saw it hated it and spread bad WOM. This looks like it is going to have a similar run to Freddy vs Jason. That Yugo movie well all the fans rushed out to see that one :p Still AVP is the most front load in terms of Friday vs Weekend of this summer. The Village had that title before that, that made like 20 vs 50 for the weekend this is going to be 16 vs 38.

Mostly junk, although that Garden State looks like a good movie, though not enough screens yet.

Marcus Telcontar
Aug 18th, 2004, 05:26:26 PM
Another awful weekend of releases. :(

Jedi Master Carr
Aug 18th, 2004, 05:54:06 PM
Well Garden State has potential in terms of being a good film it has gotten very good reviews. But it is an idie an in limited release hard to make a lot of money until it gets in more theaters.

CMJ
Aug 18th, 2004, 06:06:10 PM
Open Water was a good flick. I saw Without a Paddle at an early screening months ago. Not bad, but not good. Definite rental.

Jedi Master Carr
Aug 18th, 2004, 06:16:06 PM
Well Open Water I am not sure about. Is it scary?

CMJ
Aug 18th, 2004, 08:07:22 PM
I didn't think it was scary. It's more of a psychological study than anything. We watch two people go thru every stage of hopelessness possible. The sharks aren't in it a whole lot. It's more about the feeling of dread of knowing you're gonna die.

Master Yoghurt
Aug 19th, 2004, 02:10:54 AM
Hmmm.. I thought Exorcist looked most exciting. Open water could be interesting. Garden state got some good reviews but probably is not my kind of movie. The rest seems like utter garbage.

Of course, we all know what I think of a movie means nill. Its all about where the sheep will flock :)

Jedi Master Carr
Aug 19th, 2004, 06:51:49 AM
Well I don't think any of the movies will dominate, either the Exorcist or Open Water will probably be #1.
