It's official: the title for Episode 3 is "Revenge of the Sith". It's not a terrible title, but I just wish it wasn't something that fans have already been tossing around for months now.

I love the title it fits so much with the last film because the Sith do get their revenge so its perfect. It is a shock that Lucas picked a title that fans wanted.

LOL I know it not one of those what the heck titles because it obviously fits with the movie. It is really a fan title I remember it was rumored like back in 97 that it would be a title to one of the prequels. So either Lucas has had there all along or he wanted to give the fans what they want.

Meh. Nothing special. I liked "Fall of the Jedi" more. But its not all that important...it'll look perfectly fine between Attack of the Clones and A New Hope in my DVD collection a few years from now...

My husband is cleaning out his star wars pile of boxes, and he just handed me a SW Insider from Apr/May 1999. Right on the cover it screams REVENGE OF THE SITH with a picture of Darth Maul.

It took me a minute to realize that this was an old magazine, and not one from like, yesterday. Weird.

Trust me, it's as confirmed as you can get. This isn't some kind of practical joke like the whole "Creeping Fear" thing on April 1st.

I like it...it's what I was hoping it would be. The reactions of the 6000+ other people in the exhibit hall with us showed that they were pretty jazzed about it too. :)

That is the one that really doesn't fit, IMO either. Although AOTC has that very corny feel to it. Revenge of the Sith, is to me the best title of the prequels it is just perfect.

In hindsight, Attack of the Clones will seem no less corny to our children than The Empire Strikes Back seems to us. And good grief, what sort of title is "A New Hope"??

Looking at the titles, and how the trilogies sort of mirror one another title-wise (and otherwise, but that is for another thread) It seems that Episode I's title should have incorporated the word, "Despair" into it.

Menace opposing Hope.
Attack of and Strikes Back
Revenge for the Sith opposite of the Returning Jedi.

I don't particulary mind TPM's title, but something that put the word Depsair into it might have fit a bit better -- like Shadows of Despair. Except that one doesn't fit either (since A NEW HOPE is speaking of a person (Luke) and Shadows of Despair would be talking about a situation. In that sense, THE PHANTOM MENACE does fit, since both are talking about people (Palpatine/Sidious and Luke.)

I find it interesting to draw the parallels between the titles, and between the films themselves....

Best title of the prequels. I think it's gone over pretty well. You don't hear people screaming bloody murder and starting petitions for Lucas to change the title. It's predictable, but that's partly because it fits so well. We all know where the story is headed. It's a perfect title.
