Yeah, I'm pretty much in the same situation as Matt. I'm coming to realize that Imperials seem to hibernate during the summer.

(I'm not an Imperial, though. I just like to follow them around and kick the soles of their feet while they're walking.)

Whoo. I'm back from Canada (I'm still have the Canadian accent.) I guess I should probably tell abouy some of the major things that happened to prove that I haven't been sitting at home lurking.

Highlights everyday:

July 20:

Started out on our motorcoach at 8:15 (An hour and fifteen minutes late) Uneventful driving until we got to Fargo, ND. As we were going through an intersection, some guy decided to gun the engine and smashed into the front-right cornor of our bus.

Bus= no damage what-so-ever. (except the AC which was already broken)

Car= totaled.

Went to a truck stop to check the bus out. Played frisbee and one of the guys on our trip, Pat, threw it in the road. A semi ran it over.

Slept on the bus.

July 21:

The main group (13 people) were dropped off at the Lewis & Clark Interperative Center in Montana while the the trip leaders went to get the AC repaired.

Stuck at th damn center from 9 am to 7:30 pm. (On the way back to pick us up the bus stalled twice, Oxygen got in the fuel line)

We neatly started a fire in the building playing with flint & steel. Boy was that fun.

Rolled into camp at 12:00 am.

July 22:

Went in a shuttle bus with a Blackfoot guide(Native American tribe) his name was Matzuwanacapi or something. He said it ment "sweet heart".

We went over Logan Pass, hiked and stuff, and came back. Nothing special exept seeing a black bear and mountain goats.

July 23:

Went on a hike by Many Glacier Hotel. I lost my sunglasses. Mike met a girl at the lodge he always IMed with, how ironic.

Headed for the border. Ten minutes away the trip roganizer realized that she didn't have her passport.

We rolled into the station (with a U.S. flag tacked up in the window and the trip leader with no passport. It was funny as hell. They let her get by on her divers license. (I already liked Canada the second we got across the border)

We spent the night in a Tepee by the Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump Interperative Center. Learned how to set the things up.

July 24:

Toured the IC and saw a Native Dance program. Mike Joe, Kassie, several other onlookers, and I were drug in and forced to participate.

Went on a hike with a guide to see the drive lanes used for herding the buffalo over the jump. (5000-200 years ago) and to the Burial Hill. Went back to the Tepees, one of the blackfoot, Travis, taught us two games and how to use an Atlatal(Sp?) I almost impaled J.J.

Night in Tepee again.

July 25:

Toured a Mine in Bellevue. It sucked.

Went to the Frank Slide IC. It's one of the freakiest place I've been. On the way to the IC the road winds through rubble stacked about 30 meters high. The story beind it is:

April 29, 1903 at 4:10 a.m., Turtle mountain collapsed onto part of the town of Frank. 90,000,000 tons of rock spread over 3 square km in 90 seconds. 23 of about 100 people living in the path of the slide survived.

Stayed at Bow Valley Provincial Park and where overcharged.

Jluy 26:

Toured the Royal Tyrell paleontology museum and hiked in the Alberta Badlands.

July 27:

Hiked to Grotto Canyon, did laundry in Canmore. Got to camp in Banff at 1 a.m.

July 28:

Went to Cave and Basin Museum rest of the day was free time. I hiked up Sulphur Mountain and rode the gondola down. Met everyone at bus at 6 p.m. Trip leaders let us cruise the town until 8:30. Went to the hot springs from 9 to 10:30. Snuck into Banff Springs Hotel (like some massive castle) and looked around. Went on a "moonlight hike" (It was cloudy out)

July 29:

Hike by Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. Went to another IC on one of the Mountains. Snuck into the Lake Louise Chateau like the hotel the day before.

July 30:

Hike to Johnston canyon. Later white water rafting of the Kicking Horse River.

July 31:

drive up Icefields Parkway and stopped at Bow Sumit and Athabasca falls. Got to turn off to go the Mt Edith Cavell Hostel (Yay beds.)
Didn't realize that the Hostel was on top of a mountian when we organized the trip. Picture a motorchoach taking 180 degree switch-backs on a narrow road up a mountian. Hiked near Edith Cavell glacier.

August 1:

All day hike on Athabasca glacier. Joe dropped his journal (worth 10% of final grade) down a crevasse.

August 2-4:

Drive back. Tons of god-awfull eassays to write, books to read, presentations to give. Hell on a bus.

Any new members? Did anyone quit? What threads should I read?

Any comments, insults, or threats anyone would like to give?

Well Tear is starting our prep for the renewal of hostilities over Bestine, that sounds like your thing. Aside from that nothing much seems to have happened. If you care Telan's been runing circles around me in The Final Cut Part One. Anyhoo that's pretty much it,

Welcome back, Captain.

Banff was nice. I enjoyed hiking up the mountain, it gets you away from all of the peple in town.

The best part was the hot springs. I hadn't had a shower in about 3 days, it felt great.

And to top it off a couple of good looking girls came to talk.

I can't believe I missed this while I was away, this week. Spending time with Mom and my sister. (This week I did/had Dial up, Saw Movies: Harold and Kumar, I Robot. 2 days of miniput, driving range and arcades. Won 60 some tickets, traded in for a pack of gum. Played cool old games and some newer ones. Silent Scope second highest score in storymode.) I'll probably miss more 'cause I'll be away next week. (Niagara Falls, Marine Land, Casinos, and other stuff)

Anyway looks like you had some fun. Canmore, did you meet Mike?
