And I'm done. Well, just about. I did most of the work myself. My Father-In-Law helped with the cross supports last weekend. I put up those 4 by 4's myself and those long 2'by8's were a nightmare but I got them up there by myself. All this carpentry magic was done with only one major fall. :x

I'm going to paint the bottom of the deck white. The rest of the deck has to sit for a few months before it gets painted because it's new wood. Next spring I may paint the whole thing white or leave it as is. Now, it's time to throw up a hammock and read cheesy EU novels.:zzz

So, what's a Pergola?

;) It looks like a deck with a canvas/cloth covering? It also looks good.

*puts "install pergola" on the honey-do list*

Most of them don't have lattices. I added those so we could get more shade. What you want to do is convince your honey the project is HIS idea. Just nudge him in the right direction and the lure of power tools and lumber will do the rest. ;)

Cool - Norm Abrams would be proud... :) Seriously, that looks like a lot of work - good job...
