So many people looking for happiness
Expecting more of a brighter day
You’d sell your soul running from loneliness
Instead of giving yourself away

When you're walking in the sky
Heaven’s holding hands with you
So you better learn to fly
Before you’re falling through
Cause I’m walking in the sky
Heaven’s holding hands with me
Now I think I’ve learned to fly
I’m happy just to be

You guide me here asking the question why
I used to close every open door
I’ll find the sun even in cloudy skies
I have my time and I don’t need more

When you're walking in the sky
Heaven’s holding hands with you
So you better learn to fly
Before you’re falling through
Cause I’m walking in the sky
Heaven’s holding hands with me
Now I think I’ve learn to fly
I’m happy just to be
I’m happy just to be
Cause I’m walking in the sky
Now I think I’ve learned to fly

A Lupine is usually known for reveling in as much trouble he or she can cause, wallowing in the carnage created. Sometimes known as troublemakers of the worst sort, their reputation for wanton destruction often precedes them, and at times as gotten others of their kind - some of the more docile ones - in trouble with those known as Guardians as well as other authority figures.

One such Lupine, somewhat more docile at times than even the most complacent human, had been the unlucky recipient of more than one accidental confrontation, and as such, she had become used to it by now - even befriended two Guardians; something hardly known to occur between the two groups seemingly always at odds with one another.

Every once in a while though, our Lupine in question tended to allow herself the luxury of just a little visceral indulgence, and had at times wandered the seedier lower levels of Coruscant in search of a hot-blooded meal. Sometimes the mutant rats that populated the lower regions worked in a snap, and she had no problems ending their lives. But, every once in a while, on very rare occasions, she craved something else, and more than once the bloody remains of some poor begger had been found ripped to shreds.

The general thought was that he'd been devoured by the local 'wildlife' - if one could even call the abominations of the lower levels that - and so the poor soul became just another case number in the law enforcement's 'Death by Mutant Rat' file. It was rather advantageous, to say the least.

Today, a day that the sun shone brightly through the Coruscant buildings and even managed to illuminate a few of the lower areas, something was going to happen. Something that usually only occured in the dead of night. No, this was going to happen in broad daylight for the simple fact of the matter that, as our Lupine has many times over demonstrated, she enjoys participating in or initiating the most absurd of situations.

Overlooking many of the city-planet's skyscrapers and sky-traffic littering the space below, a rather diminutive woman stood atop one of the more middle-class scrapers - tall enough to dwarf many others, but not quite as high as some.

A simple yet graphically intense airboard was strapped to her feet, and a small pack slung across her shoulders. Metallic eyes stared down at the expanse below, the yawning lower levels calling her to their depths; to the unfortunate soul who would happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Too bad for them, a full stomach for her.

Hair whipping in the wind, the Lupine inhaled deeply, breathing in the air around her -

- and jumped.

"Hmm.......
What have we here then?......"

-Mr Pulse stood on a walkway, he was standing right up against the side rail.
Although not bearing any particular extremes of fashion, the lone tall, gaunt figure clad all in black was a stark contrast amongst the day-to-day bussle; a long coat and gloves concealed his pale skin, a wide-brimmed hat cast a shadow across his face.

He stood peering up at one of the rooftops above, he stood casualy and not firm because he wasn't prepared for this. He had been going about his dauly buissness when his lupine-seeking eyes picked out a glimmer of movement in the distance.

He had a feeling it was a lupine but not from a smell or the force, no it was to far for that. No, he thought he recognised this person and based on the insanity of this act only one person came to mind, there was only one lupine he knew who would be reckless enough to try this.

A suicidle jump at a propostrous height, from a building, in broad daylight, in the middle of a highly populated area in the middle of Coruscant.

So now he just stood watching because he had absolutley no idea what to do from here.-

When you're walking in the sky, it certainly does seem as though Heaven is holding hands with you - rather exhilerating, actually. And while some called her a lunatic, everything in her world made perfect sense. Even a seemingly stupid stunt like throwing oneself off of a skyscraper seemed completely normal. Adjerban would be so jealous.

Her body moved smoothly as she fell, torso twisting in a freefall display of grace as she rocketed downward, past unsuspecting aircars and other speeders. Arching her back, her body moved in sweeping flips and turns - aerial acrobatics at it's peak.

And every bit of it was normal enough in her mind - who wouldn't want to do this, anyways? There was a certain freedom to be gained when throwing yourself from a scraper.

People passed by in one long continuous stream; of course she paid them no mind as it was - intent on falling closer toward her as yet unkown future meal.

Mr. Dust is attempting to enjoy a simple cup of tea and a quiet day on one of the many patios off of the Coruscant skyline. As he sits, he suddenly sees a body swoosh by at very high speed.

For a moment, he simply stares, eyes wide. Surely no one would... they couldn't... could they?

He rushes to the edge of the balcony and looks down, watching the body continue to plummet. After a moment's contemplation, he decides to follow. With a brief moment of concentration, he phases through the floor, landing inside a walkway beneath him. He rushes down it to a lift, and tries to get to the bottom.

End over end, the wind in her hair and the peripheral single steam of the world around her, flying by as she descended further towards the planet's surface. Arms out, she continued her dance, her body shifting only slightly to allow for changes in direction.

Refraining from activating the small repulsors on the airboard, the Lupine continued to drop, narrowly missing speeders and other traffic as she fell.

The surface was quickly approaching, and she twisted her upper body, veering towards a support wire that ran the length of one of the many skybridges that littered the district.

The board and support wire made contact, and the Lupine slid down its' length for a short time before crouching, leg muscles bunching. Surging up, she launched from the wire before making contact with the bridge itself, and once again dove for the lower levels - this time they were much closer, and with a final twist, the Lupine righted herself, activating the small repulsors to start slowing her descent.

Now things would start to get interesting - as if a seemingly suicidal jump wasn't a particularly lovely way to start things as it was.

Mr Pulse

"...Well, there'ss nothing I can do right nowis ther?...."

-He strolled over to a public transport lift, the doors closed and it hurtled down to lower levels.

After a few momments the lift had caught up with her and he could better look, his eyes confirming his suspicions to the diver's identity.-

The Lupine let her rate of descent slow, the repulsors halting her downward plunge enough so that by the time she'd reached the desired level, It was no large feat to simply reach down, undo the straps, and hop the six inches to the ground. Slipping the small pack from her shoulders, she knelt low, making quick work of strapping the board to the pack before replacing it once more.

Now was when things would get fun - and stalking deeper into the bottom levels, she made her way carefully, stepping over broken bottles and other manner of trash that littered the area like a second skin.

Sliding down a ladder, her boots hit the shallow, murky water of some grimey, ancient aqueduct system. Cutting an otherwise black figure in the dim lights, an airboard strapped diagonally across her back, she pulled the long, curved blade - normally reserved for hunting - from the sheath at the small of her back.

Already she could smell the stink of a human body, and the Lupine started off.

Mr Dust

There are not too terribly many lifts that still reach to the lowest levels of Coruscant, and and such, traversing to the bottom has taken some time. As the age of the lifts increased, the speed of them decreased significantly. So, finally reaching the bottom, he makes his way to where the body should have landed.

He can find no remians of a body, but does see several footprints. Dust is no tracker, but anyone could follow these tracks. The nearly inch-thick muck and grime leave no doubt as to the direction of the recently plummeted body. Mr. Dust sets off in a brisk jog, hoping to happen upon this most curious character.

It was quiet; almost peaceful in the deep of the underworld, and the sparse light cast eerie shadows all around. Kukhri in hand, the Lupine let her eyes adjust to the near blackness, sweeping across the expanse of the tunnel-aqueduct before her. Scuttling, sloshing, and low growls could be heard in the distance, but it was easy to tell that the source was an animal - a pack of Anoobas, most likely.

She continued forward, and presently came upon what the creatures had been so fascinated with - a body; well, what was left of it anyway. Seemed as though someone got lost in the wrong part of town, and ended up too low on the food chain. The corpse was completely mangled, torn to shreds; and in this case, both arms and most of the legs were nothing but bloody stumps.

She knelt, studying the handiwork of some of Coruscant's more annoying predators; well, annoying to her, at least. Reaching out, she turned the head to the side with the blade of her knife, morbid curiosity taking over before she sighed, standing up once again.

If she didn't know any better, she would have thought that the Anoobas were starting to pick up on her tricks - the half-eaten corpse looked like something she had run down, the wounds much like those that she would inflict while munching happily on her catch.

With a hmph, the Lupine started off once more, leaving the body behind and in search of another specimen - this one, preferable alive.

-The lifts had lowered as far as they would go, the guardian continued on foot.
Mr Pulse advanced down a dura-steel mesh support beam at pace, he could see the back ofthe lupine at a distance, he could begin to feel her feral aura.-

Farther into the lower levels she trudged, oblivious to everything but her desire to sate the desire for human flesh. It wasn't often that she had these cravings, but the Lupine knew that it was best to satisfy the need rather than let it build. She'd aquired a taste for what she considered a delicacy, and had never refused the urge whenever it reared its' head. Of course, she usually waited until nighfall, but sometimes things never really happened to fall into the times when she would have preferred.

No matter. It wasn't like anyone would miss some forgotten streetrat anyways. Why, she was a form of pest control - yes! Of course! She helped to minimally clean the lower levels of human garbage! Oh how novel.

Ahead, her eyes picked out the shadow of another anooba, this one glaring at her for a few seconds before scurrying off; at least the thing knew not to start any trouble. Maybe it could smell what she was? She figured it wasn't that hard to tell - if a Guardian could, then no doubt another animal could as well.

The deeper she got, the darker it grew until for a moment the Lupine stopped, lifting her head to test the rancid air.

Ther... up ahead and to the right... she could smell a body. This one was alive still thankfully, and the Lupine grinned a little in anticipation of her upcoming mid-afternoon meal as she started forward once more

Mr. Dust's faster pace is apparently working... he begins to hear sounds of footfalls ahead of him. Just once along the way, he catches sight of a small figure stalking. He catches a glimpse of metal in the being's hand... perhaps a weapon, maybe only a decorative piece of clothing. At this point, however, he simply has to know. No one survives that sort of drop... at least, no one normal. Thus, Dust is dealing here with either a Force user, or some other physically-augmented being. And since the lower levels of Coruscant are not known for their high society and upstanding culture, he doubts that they are up to any good. He calls out, attempting to draw the character's attention.

Hello! I would speak with you!

She'd already rounded the corner, finding the derelict she'd smelled only a few seconds before trying to keep himself warm in a tattered blanket. The Lupine only grinned maliciously as the man looked up at her, pitiful eyes meeting those of a hunter intent on killing.

The kukhri flashed in the dim light, whipping out in a cruel, calculated motion, and with her other hand, the woman reached out to grab the begger by his hair. He had no time to cry out for mercy - or help - before his body fell limp into the sludge and his head held clutched by the hair roots in the Lupine's hand. Licking her lips, she lifting the head up, letting blood fall into her open mouth. Oh what a wonderful taste!

"Hello! I would speak with you!"

The Lupine froze for a few precious moments, then spun halfway on her heel then, looking back to the dark figure that had appeared. A figure she didn't recognize, but a voice she most certainly did. How could he have - it was impossible! Of all the dumb fnarking luck...

The Lupine dropped the head, wheeling around to start off at a sprint. She had to put as much distance between her and the Guardian as she could - and as addled and loopy as she had become in the last few years, even she knew that her friendship with this particular Guardian would not warrant her any special treatment.

No, she had to run. It was as simple as that.

Mr Pulse
Jun 20th, 2004, 03:31:45 PM
-Mr Pulse spotted the other guardian but jsut as soon he spotted the lupine starting off for a sprint.

Mr Pulse was flat out sprinting, teying to get close enough to the lupine to....
................do his job.-

The kukhri grasped in a white-knucled grip, she bolted. Ran for her life. Of all the people to be chasing her now - especially after what she'd just done - it had to be a Guardian?! No wait...

Krasst. Motherfrelling sons of -

There was a second pair of boots behind her, and if her guess was right, it was another Guardian. Why her? Oh Murphy, why her??!

Up ahead, the Lupine could see the duct open up into a yawning mouth, feeding the sludgewater into some seemingly bottomless pit, and her already dizzying pace quickened, leg muscles churning. She did however, afford herself a skittering few steps to spin around briefly, looking back to gauge how far between her and the two Guardians actually was Both were doggedly catching up - curse her short legs!!

Once again though, she was facing away from them, tearing down the duct and toward the opening, and as she neared the edge, prepared to jump. In a swift move, the blade was resheathed so as to allow her the use of both her hands for this fast approaching stunt.

The Lupine reached the ledge, and without a second thought launched herself into the air, arms outstretched to catch the mass of chains and leftover cabling that hung suspended from an unseen support strut. Her fingers caught the wires, and clamping down with a firm grip, she swung crazily over a see of inky, unknown blackness. A precarious position at best, but thankfully out of reach of the two men chasing her.

As she clung to the chains and cables, the Lupine allowed herself a quiet moment to simply hang, silently glaring - albeit ferally - at the two Guardians as they approached the mouth of the duct.

Mr Dust

Mr. Dust can tell that he's catching up... the diminuitive figure before him is becoming more and more clear. He is just about to go into an all-out sprint when a horrible sight assaults his eyes.

He stops cold, brought up short by the beheaded body next to him. He examines the wound quickly, and takes some solace in the fact that he could not have suffered much from the wound.

However, now his motives have moved from simple curiousity to outright hunting. He draws his saber, unignited, and hurries forward.

He arrives at the mouth of a large duct, opening onto a yawning chasm. He hears other footsteps rapidly approaching, but is quickly reassured by the visage that comes into view.

Brother Pulse! How good to see you! It seems as though we are persuing the same quarry...

With that, he turns to stare at the small figure on the chain, wondering how he's going to get her down.

Mr Pulse
Jun 22nd, 2004, 04:46:05 AM
"And you brother Dust."

-He replies as he looks up at the lupine, figuring Mr Dust's problem may well be fixed easily with his own skills.-

"As for this wreched usurper, I can offer not one but two solutions but one would think that the second would be less explosive."

-With a slight smile higlighting his final words, Mr Pulse's hands disappear beneath his long coat; reappearing with a pair of identical weapons.

As he brings them to point on his feral target, the dim light cathes the raised surfaces of the finely crafted dueling pistols.
The large, silvery revolvers glint in the shadows, the fine decor catching the eye of whosoever is looking.

No doubt the lupine is surprised to see a Guardian weilding firearms.
Except Brother Shadow who passed away almost 40 years ago, very few guardians have been known to weild guns, and even then only bolot-action projectle rifles.

But Mr Pulse was pulling back the hammers on his lovley pair of revolvers.

He flashed a smile before he pulled the triggers, his fingers pulling frantically. He brought his fire to bear on the chains she dangled from.-

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jun 22nd, 2004, 05:58:52 AM
Slugs ricocheted all around her, and the Lupine scrambled up the chans as best as she could, though in the process she was swung around - completely exposed.

Scrambling again, she lost her hold, the only thing saving her from completely falling being her left ankle which had become caught in the chains, thus leaving her inverted and swinging crazily. It would have been a rather comical sight had it been in a Holovid. BUT IT WASN'T.

As things were, the Lupine did her best to minimally shield herself from the firepower. Finally, she gave up. She knew that Dust would recognize her voice, but right now with the fact that she had slugs ripping through the air around her, there was only so much she could think of to do.

So she did the only thing that came to mind.

"STOP FIRING, YOU TOSSERS!!"

Mr Pulse
Jun 22nd, 2004, 06:32:43 AM
-Mr Pulse coundn't help but see the comical side to this situation.
He wasn't going to allow this lupine to tell him what to do but he could see she wasn't going anywhere and so thought no harm of it.-

"Yes, yes, yes,.........
Very well."

-He stopped shooting; pointing his weapons strait up, he pulled them closer to his body.
He continued to talk to the feral but his eyes where on Mr Dust, casting a lop=sided smile.-

"But then what, pray tell, would you have us do?"

Mr Dust
Jun 22nd, 2004, 07:30:09 PM
When the small Lupine's voice finally rings out, it dawns on Dust who he's been chasing. The shock on his face is evident. He can scarcely believe that the woman who had befriended him was now in the habit of killing men in cold blood.

He reaches out and gently lowers Mr. Pulse's revolvers.

Hold your fire, Brother Pulse. At least give your opponent a sporting chance...

He turns his attention to s'Ilancy.

Madam s'Ilancy? I request that you drop to the ground and give yourself up. Because of our... friendship... I will give you this chance to surrender.

His voice shifts, subtlely but noticably, colder.

But only this one chance.

Loklorien s'Ilancy

Still upside down, the Lupine listened quietly as Dust spoke, then once again reached up to try and right herself. It was harder than she thought, as the airboard strapped to her back was proving just a little cumbersome. But still she struggled, eventually succeeding. Metallic eyes cast their gaze down into the bottomless sewage pit, then back to Dust.

"You interrupted my lunch," she began, her voice noncommital, if not just a tad offkilter - moreso than even the last time Dust had seen her, and it was evident that she wasn't quite all there.

"And besides," she grumbled, doing her best to get a better hold of the chains she was hanging from, "If I 'surrender', you'll just kill me or do some other Guardian uber-punishment that I really won't like. I'd rather not be dead, and I'd rather skip on the silver, cortosis, and lightsabre treatment, thank you."

Mr Pulse
Jun 23rd, 2004, 01:00:42 PM
-Pulse gave a slight bow at Mr Dust's request.-

"Yes, well, perhaps if we had caught you doing something a little less homocidal then maybe we could have extended your request........."

-Mr Pulse'es weapons disappeared back under his coat once more.-

"...but unfortunatley it would seam that you where indeed acting outlike the little rascal you are."

Mr Dust
Jun 23rd, 2004, 08:41:49 PM
Mr. Dust nods slowly.

Indeed... her more feral side seems to have shown itself.

He turns back to the dangling Lupine.

Have no fear. If you surrender, you will be arrested and placed into custody until trial. I will not kill you in cold blood.

But if I have to come after you... I fear that I shall not be such a gentleman when I reach you.

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jun 23rd, 2004, 08:52:47 PM
"Those don't sound like very good options to me," the Lupine blurted out flatly. "All I wanted was some lunch."

She shifted then, tightening her hold on the chains just a little as if to reaffirm that she intended to stay where she was.

"Besides. It's not like anyone is gonna miss him - " her stomach rumbled audibly, and with a dejected grumble, s'Il finished her sentence. " - except me."

Mr Dust
Jun 23rd, 2004, 08:56:04 PM
Mr. Dust's eyes narrow dangerously.

You have chosen... poorly.

The saber in Dust's left hand ignites, bathing himself and the area nearby in a soft white glow.

Brother Pulse... fire at will.

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jun 23rd, 2004, 09:06:53 PM
Eyes suddenly as wide as saucers, s'Il was already scampering up the length of the chains - adrenaline was fueling her now - before Dust even spoke to the other Guardian.

"No!! No no no!!! Bad idea! Not fair!!"

She mimicked the words she'd heard Dust use a few times before - "Bad form!! VERY bad form!!"

Shimmying up the chains, the Lupine ascended them as fast as possible before the nutjob with the guns started firing.

"Mr. Dust!!! I'm not talking to you for a whole month!!"

Mr Pulse
Jun 24th, 2004, 09:00:30 AM
-Mr Pulse made no arguement, he looked up at the scrambling lupine as is eyes edjusted.

He held out a hand to his side and lifted it to head height; his hand began to glow. A dim blue tendrils of plasma fountained from his finger tips and collapsed back in to his palm where they swirled into a mass, a sperical ball of helical energy currents.

When it reached the size of an apple, he cast it toward the lupine with a force-assited throw.
It flew strait toward the lupine but whisked strait by her and onward.
It detonted in flight, shattering the chains which she clung to, the metal links crumbiling and scattering like leaves in a storm of bright light.

Mr Pulse the adjusted his positon so as not to stand under her, in the event that his idea had worked and she did fall to the ground.
He drew his pistols in a flash and tracked her form with the iron sights.

He pulled the triggers unleashing the torrent of silver once again.-

OOC note - to clarify a second time, s'Il is not directly above the Guardians. Go back and read my post that said she jumped off the edge of the duct, and grabbed a hold of the bundle of chains and cables that were hanging above a VERY deep drop.

IC:

http://s93860457.onlinehome.us/misc/stop-shooting!.jpg

With a yelp as a brief moment of pain filled her vision, the Lupine found herself dropping in a free fall, and her hands instinctively reached out for any sort of lifeline. Fingers closing around one of the few cables left hanging, she was swung crazily through the air in a wide arc towards the far duct away from the Guardians.

Unable to really do much of anything as the bullets ripped around her, s'Il opted for a more verbal way to express her displeasure. "Stop with the gun crap!! You're gonna hurt - " and that's when one of the silver slugs zinged past her side, tearing through cloth on its' trajectory, as well as leaving a brand new red line in its' wake. A red line that soon began to blister and burn painfully. She almost let go in shock, but managed to keep a firm grip on the cable as it sent her careening into the opposite duct.

Throwing into the duct, she slid a few feet on her shoulder while at the same time trying to scramble away from the hail of silver bullets seemingly raining down on her. At least those two wouldn't be able to follow too easily; it was a fair distance for one to jump between the two ducts, and as s'Il ducked behind a sharp corner, she leaned against the wall to painfully assess this new wound.

"YOU BLOODY... BLOODY... " words failed her, and she allowed herself a moment to complain. " ... I TOLD YOU NOT TO SHOOT!!"

Another grumble, and the Lupine was off, bolting down the duct and putting as much distance between her and the two Guardians as possible while doing her best to unbuckle the airboard from her back. Up was the way to go now. Way up..

Mr Dust
Jun 24th, 2004, 09:06:52 PM
Mr. Dust watches as the small Lupine bounds away across the large chasm. It is a distance away, but...

Brother Pulse... if you'd be so kind as to accompany me...

Summoning the Force into himself, Dust crouches and leaps. His Force Jump nearly falls short, but he is able to scramble into the duct. He trusts that Brother Pulse will follow him, and heads after s'Ilancy.

Mr Pulse
Jun 25th, 2004, 01:56:47 AM
"I'll do you one better brother."

-He said as he jumped at the cables and swung into the duct just below.
He delayed before he spoke again, an attempt to speak to Mr Dust withoutout the lupine overhearing.-

"You persue, I shall get ahead of her and blast through from beneath."

-And with that, he sets off sprinting down the lower duct, attempting to cover as much ground as possible although it would be easier as this duct was alot straiter then the other.-

Loklorien s'Ilancy

Skidding to a halt, the Lupine grabbed a hold of one of the utility ladders that were spaced through the tunnel system. The buckles holding the airboard secure to her back were forgotten as she ascended quickly, and soon enough her head was poking up out of the open-aired manwhole - hastily followed by the rest of her body as she wormed her way out.

Now, a level above Dust and two above the other Guardian, s'Il turned on her heel and tore across the lower level platform she'd originally landed on before the whole mess started. The sun could actually be seen shining through in a few places, and with the wind in her hair, the Lupine sped up her pace, throwing her head back to sing some song she'd heard on some old, b-grade period holovid recently.

"Oh well, oh well, I feel so good today,
We just touched ground on an international runway
Jet propelled back home, from over the seas to the U. S. A.

New York, Los Angeles, oh, how I yearned for you
Detroit, Chicago, Chattanooga, Baton Rouge
Let alone just to be at my home back in ol' St. Lou.

Did I miss the skyscrapers, did I miss the long freeway?
From the coast of California to the shores of Delaware Bay
You can bet your life I did, till I got back to the U. S. A.

Looking hard for a drive-in, searching for a corner caf
Where hamburgers sizzle on an open grill night and day
Yeah, and a juke-box jumping with records like in the U.S.A.

Well, I'm so glad I'm livin' in the U.S.A.
Yes. I'm so glad I'm livin' in the U.S.A.
Anything you want, we got right here in the U.S.A. "

She had no idea what any bit of it meant, but hell. It was a catchy tune.

Mr Dust

As Dust rushes down the duct, he can hear the scrabbling and clanking of s'Ilancy as she rushes away. Soon, however, the echoing inside the pipe causes him to lose the direction that she's heading. He stops and clears his mind, reaching out with the Force. He can sense Brother Pulse below him rather clearly. As well, he can feel the life force of the Lupine up ahead. She seems to be above him. She must have climbed back to the surface. He calls back to Pulse through the Force.

Brother Pulse! She is on the surface! Join me as soon as you can.

Instead of trying to weave his way up, Dust decides to take the quick way out. He's never tried to do any Force techniques while ethereal, but there's always a first time. He concentrates, quickly bringing himself into his non-corporeal form. Then, he launches himself upward in a Force leap, flying through duracrete and duct work, to land on the surface. He looks up to see s'Ilancy skittering away, oddly humming to herself. He prepares to take off after her, but is suddenly woozy. After pausing for a few moments to clear his head, he sets off once more. That last technique took a good deal out of him, but he should still have enough reserves for a few more phasings, if need be.

The Lupine stumbled, falling to her knees as an acute pain lanced through her mind. One of the Guardians had used the force, and s'Il reached one hand up to press two fingers against her temple in an effort to alleviate the pain. Skin hot to the touch, she could feel the beginnings of the reflexive change beginning, but gritting her teeth, s'Il managed to reign it in as the pain passed.

Staggering to her feet, she cast a glance over her shoulder, the sight of Mr. Dust bearing down on her greeting her gaze and she bolted once again.

Thankfully, the buildings were spaced fairly close together at this level, and the Lupine picked up her pace, leg muscles churning as she leapt over the ledge to land on the rooftop adjacent to the building she'd just jumped from. Another hop-skip brought her around to face Dust, and she gave him a cheeky smile, waving innocently at him before wheeling back and continuing on.

Again, the little Lupine's actions confuse the Guardian immensely. Where did the creature who paled at the mention of a lightsaber go? Why is she suddenly so... flippant? Is she even in her right mind?

Dust follows after her, hopping from rooftop to rooftop after her. He is, however, getting quite tired of this romp. Time to slow her down a bit.

He reaches into his coat as he runs, drawing out a large silver coin. Though he has no telekinesis to speak of, he does have the ability to aim VERY well, with the aid of Force. So, taking careful aim, he lets the silver coin fly, aiming for her neck. This should slow her enough to begin dealing with her.

At first a small spike in the Force was all she felt, and her stride slowed a little as she brought a hand up to her temple. And that's when something smacked into the back of her neck. Skidding to a halt, the Lupine stood for a moment, oblivious to all except for this new annoyance.

And then it started burning. BURNING.

"Ow! Oh holy krasst!! What the f-" Hands went to the straps holding the airboard to her back, making quick work of the buckles. The board clattered to the rooftop as s'Il arched her spine in pain, backing up against a cooling pipe which jutted out of the rooftop.

Mr. Dust was completely forgotten in her attempts to cool this new burning sensation, and the Lupine pressed the back of her neck as hard as she could onto the cool metal surface.

Hands holding her hair out of the way, she let out a little whine, but soon followed up with a grumbled string of gibberish to express her discomfort.

Talk about rotten afternoon meals.

Mr Dust

It seems that his attack has accomplished the desired effect. s'Ilancy skids to a halt, trying to soothe the small burn on her neck. In the interim, Dust catches up with her, running ahead of her to keep her from moving forward anymore.

With a quick flick of his left wrist, he draws his small saber and ignites the thin, rapier-like blade. He drops into a fighting stance, saber at the ready. The humming blade tip hovers just before her face.

No more running now... I'd prefer to end this peacefully, madam...

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jul 4th, 2004, 09:32:02 AM
For a few silent seconds, s'Il only looked up at him, eye shifting from the blade to his face, back to the blade. For a scant moment the burn was forgotten as confusion registered on her features, only to be replaced with a wide-eyed look of pain as her new injury made itself known once again. Hands went to the ugly welling blister forming, and the Lupine pressed against a coolspot on the piping.

"I told you," she replied grumpily, "I'm not talking to you for a whole month. You weren't being fair, and told your friend to fire at me. With silver bullets, might I add." a hand went to her side where the welt along her ribs was swelling. "Now go away, I'm- Ow... sonofa... krasst -a little busy."

She busied herself with trying to cool the burning then. The lightsabre hovering just in front of her was cause for alarm, but she considered the burn to be far more critical, and so the sabre was ignored momentarily.

It would have to be cut away so it could properly heal, that much she knew. And it would have to be done fast before the scarring started. Reaching a hand down to the sheath at the small of her back, s'Il grasped the handle of her kukhri, a deft thumbflick unsnapping the thin leather strap which held it in it's place before pulling the blade out. So intent on her task was she that the Lupine didn't even stop to consider how Mr. Dust would interpret this action...

Mr Dust
Jul 6th, 2004, 10:04:54 PM
The bald Jedi nearly laughs at the girl's comment about not speaking to him. He relaxes for a bit... until he sees her draw the kukhri. She draws the weapon, blood from her recent kill still staining the blade. As soon as it's out, Dust quickly flicks his rapier-thin saber out, slicing through the thin metal with ease.

None of that now, madam... I'd rather not have to hurt you again...

Jul 6th, 2004, 10:19:28 PM
In a sense of shock, the Lupine just stared at what was left of her weapon. Eyes wide, she held the blade in silence, at a loss for words before looking up to Mr. Dust.

"You... my... what the... " she didn't know what to say, and with a hmph, she slumped where she sat, visibly pouting.

"Oh thank you," she started, throwing the weapon to the side in frustration, "Now how am I supposed to cut away the burn?!"

In aggravation, from the spot she'd plopped down to, s'Il lashed out with her booted foot, hoping to catch the Guardian in the shins with childish retaliation at best.

Mr Dust
Jul 6th, 2004, 10:23:08 PM
In utter confusion, Mr. Dust extinguishes his saber... after dodging the attempted shin kick, of course. He lowers himself into a crouch, and displays an extremely confused expression. He speaks very softly, attempting to calm the girl.

s'Ilancy? Madam s'Ilancy? What... what has happened to you?

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jul 6th, 2004, 10:35:44 PM
With her own sense of confusion, one hand at the back of her neck to deal with the pain as much as possible, s'Il stared - wide-eyed - right back at Dust.

"What happened to me? Oh I don't know, let me think. You interrupted my lunch for starters. I didn't even get to take a bite... just a few drops. And then I got shot at -" The hand at the back of her neck moved as she gestured like some nutcase before going to her side, and she gingerly lifted up her shirt along her side to better examine the wound. It wasn't pretty, and the Lupine winced as she prodded at it gently.

Still focused on the wound to her ribs, she went on. " - and swung over some bottomless pit. I could have fallen, you know. And finally, I get another silver whatever thrown at me... oh!" the Lupine looked up then, and leaned forward to jab a finger into the Guardian's chest. "And you killed my kukhri!! Now how am I supposed to keep from scarring if I can't cut away the burns??!"

With a deep breath, s'Il huffed, glaring daggers at Mr. Dust.

Mr Dust
Jul 6th, 2004, 11:16:59 PM
Rising, Mr. Dust gives one of his most polite bows, tipping his hat.

Allow me to help you, then...

Dust reaches into his coat, producing a small utility knife. He tosses it to the small Lupine.

The blade, I assure you, has no silver or cortosis in it. Treat yourself, then come along, if you'd be so kind.

Loklorien s'Ilancy

Catching the knife easily, s'Il remained motionless.

"Come along where."

Mr Dust
Jul 6th, 2004, 11:24:13 PM
Well, to a nice large building where people would like to chat with you. 'Tis quite lovely... I am sure you would enjoy it...

Dust can sense that she will most likely not come with him without a fight. He does not want to hurt the girl... not now, once he realizes that there is a disconnect of sorts in her mind. He readies himself, just in case she decides to become uncooperative.

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jul 6th, 2004, 11:33:36 PM
Busying herself with the injury to her ribs, the Lupine grits her teeth as she starts to cut.

"I think I'd rather go home," she started, stripping away the frist slice and starting the second. Thankfully the wound was thin, and in less than thirty seconds she was done and on to the slightly larger burn at the back of her neck. "All this being shot at, swinging over a bottomless pit, being burned, and jumping off a building can really tire a girl out, you know."

The welt was sliced away easily, despite its' location, and s'Il gingerly tested the flesh once it had been cleared of the burned and blistered skin slices. Already beginning to heal, she scuttled up to her feet, dusting herself off and holding the utility knife out to the Guardian with an amiable smile.

"Thanks."

Mr Dust
Jul 6th, 2004, 11:36:52 PM
He takes the knife back quickly, and holds out one hand to show her that he'd rather she not leave.

I'm sorry, Miss s'Ilancy... but I'm afraid you cannot just go home... you have killed a man, you know.

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jul 6th, 2004, 11:48:53 PM
Brows raising, s'Il turned to the side to reach down and grasp the airboard. She slung it over one shoulder, holding it securely by one of the straps.

Metallic eyes just a tad befuddled, the Lupine cleared her throat. "But I was hungry," she pointed out - as if she was explaining the route she used when walking home. "And besides. It's not like he was gonna live that much longer down there anyways.

"I know I'd rather be eaten be a Lupine than by a mutant rat."

She turned then, intending to simply walk away. "It's nice of you to be concerned though."

Besides; even in her state of mind, the Lupine knew better than to admit to the fact that she often found herself down in the tunnels, munching on some poor soul and happier than a shaak in dren. Best to just try and walk away. And not do this again during the day.

Mr Dust
Jul 6th, 2004, 11:54:03 PM
Mr. Dust shakes his head sadly. He knew it would come to this. He simply hoped it would not. Oh well...

He ignites the saber once more and darts in front of s'Ilancy.

Not so fast, madam. I truly do not wish to hurt you. But I cannot allow you to kill people at will... no matter where you may find them.

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jul 6th, 2004, 11:57:52 PM
What was so hard to understand? She'd said it simply enough; what was so difficult to get?

And the look in her eyes conveyed that sense of confusion as she halted quickly, staring up at Dust, then traveling down to the lightsabre. And for a moment, the old fear returned.

"Please turn that off," was all she asked, her voice quiet and the tone - for once - closer to her once normal inflection; albeit a hint of worry underlying it.

Mr Dust
Jul 11th, 2004, 09:31:55 PM
He shakes his head slowly, almost sadly. His eyes reflect his reluctance... the last thing he wants to do is hurt her.

But that I could, madam. I fear you must surrender, first.

And please do surrender... I'd rather not cause you pain.

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jul 11th, 2004, 09:41:56 PM
Metallic eyes widened a little, a slight sense of childish shock in their depths. "No?"

Those same eyes narrowed then, and her whole body tensed almost unnoticably. Her hands which gripped the straps on the airboard tightened, and her muscles remained taut, ready to swing out in any attempt to escape.

"I don't want to hurt you, but I want to go home. If you don't let - " And without warning she swung, her arms bringing the airboard around in a vicious arc. The Lupine truly didn't want to hurt the Guardian - she saw him as a friend - but she also didn't know what he had planned for her, and that was what made her worry.

And she would do her best to get out of whatever it was she'd gotten herself into.

Mr Dust
Jul 11th, 2004, 09:45:21 PM
Though the attack does take him somewhat by suprise, his Jedi reflexes allow him to duck under the approaching board. As soon as the board clears his head, he rises again. He darts the tip of his blade forward, slicing the back of one of her hands. He still does not wish to hurt her, but if he can get her to drop the board, he may be able to force her to surrender.

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jul 11th, 2004, 09:51:00 PM
With a yelp, the Lupine stumbled back. One hand letting go of the board, she pulled it close to her body as the other dragged the airboard across the roof of the building. The cauterized wound burned and in a vain attempt to cool it, s'Il lifted it up to blow on it. Of course it still burned, and in aggravation she released the board, letting it clatter to the rooftop.

Cradling her hand close to her body, the Lupine barreled forward then, throwing caution to the wind as she dropped a shoulder, intending to ram Mr. Dust in his midsection.

Mr Dust
Jul 11th, 2004, 09:55:28 PM
The little Lupine comes on toward him, aiming straight at him, head down. In one quick, fluid motion, he takes his hat from his head with his right hand and sidesteps.

As s'Ilancy comes barreling in, he places the hat in front of her path. His hat - cortosis lined - is dropped onto her head.

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jul 11th, 2004, 10:06:07 PM
No cry. No pain-filled yell. Only a hiss as she felt the cortosis begin its' horrible burning process, and with a quickness born only out of panic, the hat was ripped away; thrown from the building.

As one arm flung the hat from the building, s'Il twisted her torso in a quick showing of physical flexibility, wheeling around on the Guardian with one hand lancing out like lightning in an almost kneejerk reaction to strike a backhanded blow...

Mr Dust
Jul 11th, 2004, 10:10:13 PM
The previous move put Mr. Dust slightly off his balance, so when the backhand comes in, he isn't able to dodge. He brings up his right hand to block, but does little to stop the force of the blow.

The Lupine, though small, does pack a whallop. He falls to the ground and rolls, coming back to his feet. Unfortunately, he may have to incapacitate her to ever get her to surrender.

So be it.

He drops into his customary ancient fighting stance, and advances, the tip of his saber darting in and out toward her.

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jul 11th, 2004, 10:35:10 PM
Stumbling back, s'Il wiped at the slight marks the cortosis-lined hat had left; thankfully they weren't bad, as she'd pulled the hat from her head almost the moment she felt the burning start.

But still, she looked to Dust in the first beginning of baffled anger, hopping backwards as he advanced on her. Her hands were thrown up as she retreated. "I ain't got anything to defend myself with, Sir." The irony of the situation coupled with the act she'd committed not an hour ago were already lost to her, but the Lupine remained undaunted as she spoke.

"You wouldn't attack a defenseless person now, would ya?"

Mr Dust
Jul 11th, 2004, 10:41:16 PM
The man nearly laughs out loud at the ludicrous statement.

Defenseless? You're a Lupine! You ARE a weapon! But, if you feel so helpless... I would be more than happy to accept your surrender.

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jul 11th, 2004, 10:50:08 PM
For a moment she did nothing, simply staring at the Gaurdian in surprise.

"... oh yeah... "

For some reason it had completely slipped her mind that she possessed the ability to change form into one of the more deadly predators known to wander across some planets.

"... heh, I forgot... "

And the sheepish look on her face was enough to show that indeed, she did forget. She'd been so busy concentrating on other things that the shapeshifting aspect of her physiology had been forgotten.

She squared her shoulders then though, pride coming to her eyes as she straightened her back, head held high. Backing (well, swaggering at the very least) away, s'Il grinned. "I don't think I'll be surrendering, mate," she said confidently, "so I'm afraid I must bid you farewell.

"Just remember that today was the day you almost got - "

And unknown to her, the Lupine tripped over the lip of a rooftop window frame, and with a startled yelp, s'Il fell backwards, crashing through the glass and falling to the floor below.

Mr Dust
Jul 11th, 2004, 10:54:52 PM
He shakes his head once more at the Lupine's theatrics.

Well, if you insist on making my job that much easier...

He extinguishes his saber quickly and concentrates, bringing himself into his ethereal form. He slips through the roof of the building, landing on the floor nearby where s'Ilancy is now lying prone. He reignites his saber and moves over, point very close to her chest.

Now, will you please stop this foolishness and yield?

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jul 13th, 2004, 11:14:04 AM
With a groan, the Lupine only lifted her head to look blearily at the Guardian standing over her. The lightsabre tip hovering maybe only an inch above her chest was noted, but at this point she was too winded to do much of anything, really. Retaliation at this point was definately a no-go.

"Urrhnggg..." Her head fell back to thud dully against the laquered (and consequently glass-strewn) wood flooring, and s'Il closed her eyes. Perhaps a change? Four legs were certainly better than two in a footrace, and she knew without a doubt that she'd be able to outrun Dust. It wouldn't be that hard. It was just the process of changing that would leave her open to attack. Not to mention it took so much out of a person; well, her at least. And frankly, she was just too lazy to deal with it.

Another groan as her metallic eye opened once more too look up at the Guardian with a level gaze; albeit it was apparent through even that that something had been tripped, or short-circuited in her mind. Something was off; and had become more unhinged over time. Yet there was a deffinate off-kilter intelligence at work - one that it seemed only the Lupine had a grasp of.

"I'm too tired to change, but if you don't let me go on my way, I will," her tone held hints of annoyance mingled with a small amount of discomfort and pain, "... and I really really don't want to do that. You've already interrupted my lunch, burned me with both silver and cortosis, and generally turned an otherwise lovely day into a not-so-lovely day. I know if I was a Guardian I'd let me go."

A brow rose and the slightest of ticks pulled at the corners of her lips. "I'll give you a backscratch...?"

Mr Dust
Jul 13th, 2004, 10:43:26 PM
In spite of himself, Mr. Dust cannot help but smile. No matter what, the little Lupine is always good for a laugh.

After a moment, the smile on his face slips, slowly becoming a thoughtful frown. What is wrong with this girl? What has happened?

He lowers his saber for a moment, but does not extinguish it.

s'Ilancy... I need you to come with me. You know I could stab you if you tried to transform. Neither of us want that. But you have to come with me. Please.

He sincerely hopes that she takes him up on the offer.

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jul 13th, 2004, 11:28:06 PM
Once more, her head fell back as she let out a tired sigh. This was getting tiresome, and the Lupine knew that neither her nor Mr. Dust wanted another chase;she didn't want to have to run, and he didn't want to have to pursue.

But still, it was the principle of the matter that nagged at her, and s'Il let small fingers close around one of the larger shards of broken glass before letting it go.

She sat up as the sabre was moved away, resting her arms on her knees. The Lupine lifted her head then to look up at him, utterly silent as she simply stared at the Guardian. She had nothing to say now, as it seemed nothing she said would help her situation. At least she would have the future to plan on an escape. Of course, that was rather dependant on where Mr. Dust was going to take her.

She'd done her best to weasel out of the situation. Now to see what would happen.

She lifted her hands up and out then, holding them together at the wrists. "Let me guess," she started ruefally, even if just a bit disgruntled, "... clap 'er in irons."

Mr Dust
Jul 14th, 2004, 09:07:46 PM
He lowers the sword completely now, extinguishing the blue blade. He smiles at her genially.

No, no irons necessary. I'm taking you to someone who'd like to talk to you. Nothing more.

He bows deeply, then extends a hand forward to the nearby doorway.

After you, madam, I insist.

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jul 14th, 2004, 09:18:15 PM
His guard was down, and the Lupine took advantage of this. It was her understanding that he was planning on taking her to some form of prison, and if given the chance to get out of that particular fate, she would take it. Though, her action wasn't in any way related to lashing out at him. In fact, it was quite the opposite.

She took the moment to scramble back, across the glass-strewn floor at a frantic pace. If she could make it to the railing not far off, she might have a chance at dropping down to the next landing

"I don't want to go to prison... "

Mr Dust
Jul 14th, 2004, 09:22:19 PM
He reaches out toward her, but does not reignite his saber. He's doing his best not to scare her off.

No! Do not run! You may not have to go to prison... please, just come with me! You need help!

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jul 14th, 2004, 09:26:10 PM
Help??

"I don't need help," this stopped her, and she looked up at him with more than a confused look across her features. What was he talking about? Help? HELP??

"I'm perfectly fine, apart from an empty stomach and a few burns."

Mr Dust
Jul 14th, 2004, 09:30:53 PM
He speaks soothingly, as if he's speaking to a child.

I know... I just want to take you somewhere nice. They'll give you food and help you with your burns. Just come with me, ok?

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jul 15th, 2004, 06:42:28 AM
Her ire was rising. "They do all of those things down in lockup. And I'm not about to give Vymes the satisfaction of seeing me on the sucker's end of the bars. Sorry mate - " She was on her feet in a flash, muscles taut and ready to bolt.

" - but I'm not taking a trip to the Watch's holding cells - "

No doubt he was expecting her to try and flee downwards, and it was true; she'd at first intended to do as such, but now an idea came to mind, and s'Il acted on it immediately... and that's when she rushed him.

Mr Dust
Jul 15th, 2004, 09:13:15 PM
The rush does indeed take him by suprise. He has time, though, to ignite his saber and run her through, should he wish to do so. He does not, however... he is still trying to get some help for her.

He allows her to run into him, letting himself be bowled over. When he lands, he wraps his arms around her, placing the silver hilt of his saber against her neck.

Stop fighting!

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jul 15th, 2004, 09:24:44 PM
The shock of the burn to her neck ellicited a gasp from her, and the Lupine struggled in his grasp. "No! Let go! Let me go!"

s'Il was frantic at this point, and she strained to pull herself from the hold the Guardian had on her. But it was useless, and with a yelp she pushed her head into his chest, against his sternum as her hands balled into fists.

Mr Dust
Jul 15th, 2004, 09:26:49 PM
He releases the saber hilt from her neck, but does not release his grip.

I don't want to take you to a cell... I want to take you to a hospital...

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jul 15th, 2004, 09:40:45 PM
Her struggles lessened a little, and the Lupine slowly stopped fighting.

"... a... a hospital... ?"

Mr Dust
Jul 18th, 2004, 06:18:42 PM
He relaxes his grip a bit.

Yes... a hospital. It's quite nice, I assure you... won't you come with me?

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jul 18th, 2004, 06:22:04 PM
That he wanted to take her to a hospital was a little surprising, but still she remained skeptical. She wanted nothing more than to go back to the poor soul she'd killed and finish her meal.

"I don't like hospitals," she said quietly, slowly starting to try and worm her way from his grasp, "Just let me go, please."

Mr Dust
Jul 18th, 2004, 06:24:23 PM
He tightens his grip once more, but tries to do so as gently as possible.

If hospitals are not acceptable, would you be willing to come and talk to a friend? He may help you a bit...

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jul 18th, 2004, 06:26:15 PM
"I just want to finish my lunch," was her only grumbled response as her efforts to slip from his hold died down once more and she let her marginal weight settle onto him, her head falling to rest dejectadly on his chest.

Mr Dust
Jul 18th, 2004, 06:30:44 PM
He is at a loss, and simply holds onto her for a moment.

You cannot, I'm afraid... it's simply not done.

Is there not any way I can convince you to stop killing?

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jul 18th, 2004, 06:35:26 PM
"I'm a Lupine, remember?" she started, the beginnings of a slight sense of anger seeping into her voice, "it's what I do. You said so yourself.

"I'm just doing what I'm supposed to do."

Gritting her teeth, s'Il went on. "So what if I like to enjoy a little human flesh now and then - everyone has their likes and dislikes. I just happen to like the way people taste."

Mr Dust
Jul 18th, 2004, 06:36:56 PM
Mr. Dust stands up, stepping back a bit.

Indeed? So, were are but slaves to our natures? In that case, I should kill you now, as is typical of my people? Is that what you wish?

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jul 18th, 2004, 06:46:03 PM
Suddenly free from his grasp, the Lupine scrambled to her knees, but stopped short as he spoke, looking up to the Guardian. His words were somewhat of a shock to her, and it showed in her face. She'd never once thought that he would kill her - it was true that he was a Guardian and she a Lupine, but as far as she knew, the two had come to not only a sort of understanding of the other, but a friendship as well.

"You would kill me? ... I thought I was your friend... "

A hand found it's way to the welt rising on her neck then, and s'Il looked away, unable to meet his gaze. A decidedly sour expression came to her face then, and she ground her teeth for a few moments before moving again - only this time it was to stand.

"He would have died down there anyway," was all she growled, turning hardened metallic eye to him finally.

Mr Dust
Jul 18th, 2004, 06:48:34 PM
I would like to remain your friend. My point is that, if I were as bound to my "natural tendencies" as you seem to be, then I would have killed you already. Just as I have escaped my tendencies, so you should be able to escape yours.

Are you not even willing to try?

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jul 18th, 2004, 07:02:22 PM
Lucidity came slowly, and the Lupine blinked. "But... he would have died down there anyways... "

She looked up at him. "Cannabalism isn't a natural tendency. It's a delicacy; one that I've enjoyed many times. I don't do it because I have to - I do it cause I want to."

Mr Dust
Jul 18th, 2004, 07:04:14 PM
He cannot help as his back stiffens.

You killed a man in cold blood! And out of nothing but choice?

Loklorien s'Ilancy
Jul 18th, 2004, 07:15:53 PM
"You enjoy eating some things I am sure, and I enjoy eating others. It's not like I go out into the streets - out in the open - and kill the first person I see.

"I make sure it's in the dark; in the lower levels, and that my food is on their last leg." Her voice went to a growl then, and her hands balled into fists. "It's like pest control."

Mr Dust
Jul 18th, 2004, 07:19:37 PM
He cannot keep the rising anger out of his voice.

THEY ARE NOT PESTS!

"Then what are they," she shot back, "Society has certainly forgotten about them - otherwise they wouldn't be down there, infesting the sewers. What's so different about me killing him as opposed to a mutant rat? Or a pack of anoobas?

"Nothing."

He shakes his head, trying desperately to remain calm.

They are humans. They have souls. They are not simply animals.

Which is more, in some cases, than can be said for you.

A manic grin as she ground her teeth.

"Oh how the venom in your words stings, Guardian."

Her hand continued to rub at the welt on her neck, and s'Il slowly began stepping to the side, almost casually.

"Watch out for Mr. Dust, little Lupine youglings; he'll cut you with his tongue and burn you with silver and cortosis."

He chuckles darkly. If she wishes to be sarcastic, so can he. He dramatically places his right hand on his heart, staggering back as if struck.

Oh, how your words wound me! How evil a Guardian am I, persecuting the poor, defenseless, murdering Lupine.

He quickly drops the charade, though. This is no time for games.

You know I could have hurt you much more by now, had I wanted to. I am doing my best to take you in in the least painful way possible. I warn you this last time... do not force my hand.

She stopped. The Lupine wasn't sure as to what he would do, and frankly she was hoping to not really stick around to find out. She'd been stalling for long enough to once again gather enough strength to run, and s'Il was almost certain she would be able to outrun him. Especially...

Metallic eyes closed as she stood, and she lifted her head a little, standing up straight. Snapping her eyes open she level her gaze to the Guardian - only instead of the metallic sheen, her eyes were the tell-tale tawny yellow that preceded every change.

Bolting to the side then, she headed for the top landing of the stairs that were behind Dust. All she had to do was slip past him, then she was home-free to return to her meal...

As soon as her eyes change, Dust springs into motion. In Lupine form, she'll be MUCH faster than him, so he must stop her before she changes.

He follows her gaze, seeing the stairway... currently, the only way out of here. He cuts her off, running back to the stairs, lit saber in hand.

I suggest you stop your transformation. I would hate to stab you mid-change. It is quite impolite.

For her, his words fell on deaf ears. So intent was she in her morph that all thoughts but escape were pushed from her mind. Her skin hot to the touch, and bones and muscles shifting as she ran, s'Il didn't even hesitate as she charged foreward. As her head became narrower, and the teeth in her mouth lengthening to sharp points, she let out a sharp growl as she felt the joints in her legs pop out. The Lupine dove forward then, catching herself not with hands, but instead massive paws that glistened with sheen of silver fur which sprouted along her body like wildfire. Back legs reformed and tail lashing behind her, the vornskr continued on still, not having heeded the Guardian's warning in any way shape or form...

He speaks with true sadness.

I'm sorry it has come to this...

He stabs forward quickly, aiming for a lung. Perhaps he can still put her down without harming her too badly.

She felt the blade pierce into her chest; smelt the ozone and burning hair and flesh, and without a sound the beast stopped, standing stock still. She could feel the blade inside of her, cauterizing the visceral flesh of her insides.

It was so painful that she could even utter a yelp or cry. Instead, she looked up to Dust, tawny eyes seemingly on fire. And with deliberate intent, the vornskr took a single step forward; effectively sending the shimmering blade a little deeper into her body and the bring the hilt closer to her skin.

A growl was all she gave the Guardian; a pained yet still rebellious growl.

His eyes widen in sheer disbelief. When he speaks, his tone is incredulous and barely above a whisper.

Why? This has to hurt...

He quickly retracts his saber, extinguishing it as he does. As soon as his saber is out, he shifts to his immaterial form. He passes his phased right hand into the injured Lupine's head.

I am sorry...

He braces himself for the pain to come and shifts back to the material form. When he does, his hand is shunted out to the nearest empty space. The pain in his hand, though, is nothing compared to that of the Lupine. It won't do any real damage to her, but it will disrupt her brain terribly, sending her to sleep immediately.

She felt his hand pass through her body; knew what was coming. And strangely enough, at this point in time, the Lupine did nothing about it. Just as she had done nothing to stop from stabbing herself through the chest with his saber.

Even as she felt his hand solidify and consequently leave her body, she did nothing but let sudden unconsciousness grip her.

The beast fell then, like a ton of duracrete bricks. Her bulk hit the floor with only a dull thud, and just as soon she began to unconsciously revert.

He falls to his knees, grasping his aching right hand. He had enough forethought to use his right hand, so that he will be able to use his saber should the need arise. However, that right hand will be all but useless for the next several hours.

He removes his long overcoat, wrapping the small Lupine in it to cover her. The transformation does not treat clothing very well. He takes her diminuitive form in his arms and begins the long trek to a med station.

She embraced the sleep as it came, overtaking her mind and body. Sometimes there were things that just had to be conceded, and this was one of them. She'd done her best to get out of the situation, but it seemed that things wouldn't be turned in her favor.

The deeper she fell into her own subconscious, the more the Lupine felt herself become embraced by the darkness. In a perverse sense, she wished she could sleep forever, but s'Il knew that the time would come for her to wake. Not now, but sometime.

Until then though, she'd enjoy herself. She smiled then, her lips curled back in a slight grin as she let the blackness swallow her up.
