Imperial troops on the ground are severly limited by not being able to quickly travel from one hotspot to another, at a moments notice.
An air mobile division would solve that, something similar to the Vietnam 1st Airborne Cav. Utilising atmosphere bound repulsorlift gunships, we can deploy troops much faster, using this force as a spearhead, to take bridges, hills, towns, enemy supply depots.
Troops would be deployed from the crafts in much the same way as the Republic era Clone Troopers. Dropping into hostile zones and paving the way for the Panzers and infantry.
(They would be part of the Imperial Army - not Navy)
Ideas?
