Having just come back from a sneak peek screening of aforementioned movie, and having expected hilarious fare spoofing fairy-tale land in the 'Shrek' fashion...

... I was not in any way shape or form disappointed. Shrek 2 delievers in a big way.

Non Fairy-Tale Spoofs which I saw, and chortled at:

COPS
Joan Rivers as herself at the 'Ball Show'
That Burt Lancaster 'making out in the surf' scene
Mission Impossible
Ghostbusters
The Matrix
Zorro, of course (P for puss ...in boots) Antonio Banderas was hilarious in this role!

I'm sure there were more, can't remember them. And when you go see it, STAY THROUGH THE CREDITS, there is more movie!! Believe me, you DO NOT want to miss this.

All in all, Shrek 2 = a sure hit for Dreamworks. It will not disappoint.

I haven't seen it yet, but from the trailer it looks hilarious, especially... Prrrray for mercy from Puss IN BOOTS!

I remeber how surprised I was, catching a preview of Shrek, how a) it hadnt been advertised and b) how outright violently funny it was. I had never laughed so much in one film. It had wit intelligence and it was a savage parody of Disney, leaving hardly any sacred cow alone. As I said in another thread, the exploding bird was worth the price of admission alone. It deserved every dollar it earned and it deserved a sequel.

I'm glad to see the sequel lives up to the first. This one is on my must see list. To be honest, I'm not expecting the absolute inspired lunacy of the exploding bird - but if it gets somewhere near, it'll do me.

The original Shrek is one of those rare movies that actually gets better on successive viewings. It's brilliant.

I can't wait for Shrek 2, it looks hilarious...can't go until Sunday, but I've already bought our tickets. :)

Ok...can someone from the UK please stop me being mad? I just looked at a website, and it said that Shrek 2 wouldn't be out over here until JULY. I'm hoping I read it wrong, or it was a typing error, or something...

Anyone know when its supposed to be out in England?

I saw it today I loved it. I really liked Bandarras as Puss n Boots, and of course Eddie Murphy was hilarious again as Donkey.

So on the Sw-Fans.Net good/bad chart, this movie is "Good." 3 out of 3. ;)

Make it 4 out of 4, I really liked it as well. I think I liked the original better but the sequel was really well done and quite funny.

I'm absolutely shocked to be typing these words, but...

I was disappointed. Outside of a few funny moments and Puss in Boots, it didn't do much for me at all.

:cry

They also spoof indiana jones, When they dive under the lowering door in the potion factory and puss losses his hat and then grabs it right before the door shuts

Just saw it - awesome movie. There were so many parodies. I loved the enormous Gingerbread Man. "We're gonna need a lot of flour".

I was ultimately unimpressed by Shrek 2 - it felt like a rehash of a great formula; there were some genuinly funny bits but all in all it felt a bit stale.

Yeah. It made me laugh a fair few times, but there were hardly any moments were I was really laughing, like at Shrek 1.

Puss in Boots was adorable. :D

I didn't like it as much as the original, but it was still very good. My son loved it. He had a great time and it'll be a must have DVD when it comes out. It's going to hit $400M by the end of next week. After some great holds it's slowed down so I don't know it it'll pass TPM, but it's going to be close.
