Impossible for me. Making a top 10 of a year is hard enough. I've tried to my favorite movies of all time list before, and I just end up frustrated.

I have to agree, its impossible for me as well. Its easier if you split them into categories, and have sections for favorite fantasy, sci fi, action, comedy, drama etc, and even then its quite hard.

This has become an impossible task for me as well. And If I did list them I'd likely be here all day typing.

Too many good movies - so little time... I go through this every now and then, trying to come up with a list of top 10 movies, and I can't do it - there's just too many. Like it was suggested, maybe breaking it into categories might help... If I have some free time later, maybe I'll see if I can brainstorm up a list...

I'd consider Star Wars to be more fantasy and less sci-fi actually

Star Wars is fantasy, (http://www.filmsite.org/sci-fifilms.html>Science-Fiction.</a>) and you'd be right in one sense, but not in the movie genre, I don't think.

My attempt at a top ten:

1. Star Wars Original Trilogy -sci/fi
2. Lord of the RIngs Trilogy - fantasy
3. Braveheart - historical?
4. Bladerunner - sci/fi
5. The Emperor's New Groove - animated comedy
6. Indiana Jones Trilogy - action
7. About A Boy - dramedy
8. X2 - sci/fi
9. Gattaca - sci/fi
10. The Princess Bride - fantasy

The easy way to think of it is that Science-Fiction gives some justification of how and why things work and happen...Fantasy tends not to bother. I mean, yes, the Force is akin to the magic of the Fantasy genre, but it is actually explained in part...you aren't inherantly "magic"...you have to have midichlorians or something.

And I'd consider Army of Darkness more of a (wannabe) comedy rather than anything near a horror movie. :x

Dru, 99% of Army of Darkness fans (Y'know, the peeps with taste? ;)) would classify it as a comedy.

I'd call Star Wars Sci-Fi Fantasy myself its like a Fantasy set in space. For example the force is like magic, the Jedi-Wizards etc. But I don't consider it a true fantasy like Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter.
