I am going to purchase SW galaxies. But my comp is only a 400 prossesor, used to be my moms, so could I just upgrade the processor to a 700 or even a 900 or do I have to get another mother board all together because of the chipset.

It depends upon the motherboard. It may or may not be able to handle such a processor.

Basically, you need to find out the model of the motherboard, as well as the processor (400 mhz, but is it Pentium II, Celeron, AMD K6?). We might be able to provide an answer at that point.

CPU:
Minimum: Intel PIII 933 MHz or AMD Athlon 900 MHz
Recommended: Intel P4 1.5 GHz or AMD Athlon XP 1500

'k.

Well, if it's an old Celeron, that gives some indication of the capabilities of the motherboard. I'm afraid that you are going to have to get a new processor and mobo to be able to handle Galaxies.

The good news is that you can get a very good mobo and processor for $100-$150. So, upgrading is very doable without breaking the bank. Or, to be honest, a new system with good hardware that will allow you to play just about any game out there can be acquired for about $500-$600. So, you have some options. They all involved spending money, but computer hardware is pretty cheap right now, and you can get a lot for the money you spend, as long as you shop right.

You should just get a new computer.

Yeah, that would probably be the best thing.
