Design Specifications - With the Federacy race drawing near and finding out what ships were to be entered in the race, Sovereign technicians started working overtime to create a vessel that could compete against all of them. And win. Mostly to prove that the Sovereignty could build a superior craft and show up the Federacy.
Engineers dropped the usual TIE design and wanted to do something original. To show the Sovereignty could build something other than a ball with wings. The new creation was a sleek ship with enough speed to outrun an interceptor and then some.
The ship has an X-wing look to it but is different in many ways. Two wings protrude from the mid section and sweep back to the engines. They split vertically up and down, and at the tip of each wing a blaster cannon is set in a rotating seat, allowing a 360 degree area of fire. The weapons on each wing are linked and have one targeting system so they fire much like a duel cannon. They can be set to single fire via manual control from the cockpit. The missile system is located in the nose of the ship. It holds a maximum of 3 missiles.
The cockpit is 1m behind the nose where the missile launcher is located. It has a single seat, with the controls lined around it. The cockpit glass is one single curved piece embedded into the ship with no braces disrupting the pilots view. It also lowers the visual range so flash from the missile tube will not blind the pilot. The pilot can't step out of the seat when in the cockpit, so it's built on a slide train which goes to the mid section where the main hatch is. From there the pilot can also get to the engines system and repair damage.
The aft section house the engines and power generators the Viper-class (See Viper-class reactor) taking most of the room with braces and coolant systems. The power generators taking the rest. They can be accessed via the mid section for repairs.
The image attached is just a rough look that I made up. The craft looks a lot better the way if I had the software to make it look like a sweet, sleek craft.
