I have a business proposal for you all, if you're free. I'm waiting in Echo Base right now...probably the last place anyone would look for something with more than two brain cells. I'm waiting there for representatives of any pirates (or want-to-be pirates), mercenaries, bounty hunters, small crime rings, businessmen, defectors from the Empire, smugglers, criminals, or people who are generally of ill repute. I want you here for a simple reason...I want to form an Alliance.

A long time ago, a bunch of people banded together in order to fight the Empire. The Rebel Alliance were the heros of the Empire. They worked because they were hard to track down. No matter how hard the Empire tried, they couldn't crush them at once, and slowly the Alliance grew.

Since the Rebel Alliance became the New Republic, there's been no "Rebel" Alliance around. The NR continues to fight the Empire, but to be honest, they're not as infallable as they used to be.

It seems a general consensus in the galaxy, more or less, that the Imperials are scum. There are hundreds of pirate bands around who'd take a shot at the Empire if they got the chance. What I want to do is pull us all together, and get us to fire at the Empire all at once. Lets face it. Until the Empire is out of the way, non-humans, Force-users, pirates, smugglers and "criminals" will never be safe. We must fight together to free the galaxy from the grip of the Empire once and for all...so we can return to an era like under the Galactic Republic, where a smuggler's life was easy, and a pirate's work was never done.

So, if you've EVER felt like doing vaguely noble, then Echo Base is the place to be. See you on Hoth.

Commander Jacen Dantarno
Fury Troopers

PS. We will have an organised military of sorts. To show a united front, we'll be wearing Clone Trooper armour, in memory of the old days. We'll also have access to a few Super Battle and Destroyer Droids, but I fancy a few more, so we're gonna have to either buy them, or find some way of making them. I want to keep numbers small to start with, but that doesn't mean not to apply. On the contrary...the more interest I see, the better. Maybe if we get enough of us, we'll be able to seize control of a bit of the forums...:D

Any money in this?

And do we have to wear those white uniforms? It defeats the purpouse of guerilla war when we are wearing white suits IMO. If theres money involved, then I will consider it.

I'm interested, and Alghieri would think of it as a really excellent business venture.

Sorry dude, but Hoth is currently occupied.

Ah, ok. I'll switch the planet to a different ice one...give me a few, and I'll alter the post.

There isn't money so much in this venture. However, if you think about it, the New Republic is more friendly towards rebels and outlaws, because that's what they used to be. The Empire hates us, full stop. We're in this to take out the Empire. Once they're gone, or at least driven back, we'll get more business oportunities. You'll also get most of your weapons, ammo, equipment, food, resources, fuel, etc provided for you. If you've not got a ship, you will be provided with one. And, you'll get to keep a lot of the stuff you get...not everything, as we'll need a lot of the stuff. But you'll get some of the spoils, divided up equally between those that helped.
You also get a home, free protection, and maybe a droid or two, if you don't have some already. All transport ships will have one Destroyer Droid to defend it. All Starships (anything with more than one deck, essentially) will have more than one Destroyer Droid. Pretty much every unit will have a protocol droid of some description who will help them out from time to time.

No, you don't have to wear white all the time. If you're a covert sort of team, you'll probably end up as one of our Mobile (as opposed to Mech) Infantry "Strike Units". They're special forces, essentially. My mercenaries, though "Fury Troopers", are a Strike Unit. We'll be having black uniforms (the only example I can think of is similar to the X-Men movie outfits) which they can use when appropriate. If you don't need to hide and sneak around, you wear the armour. But if you do need to be covert, there's an alternative.

I'm working on a website that will initially, if anything, give you some idea of our military structure. We've got Ground, Space and Support Corps (cores), which break down into:
Ground (Red) - Infantry and Artillery
Space (Yellow) - Starfighters and Starships
Support (Blue) - Admin, Intelligence, Logistics (Transports) and Security
The Military section of the Databank will be split down into the relevant tiers, so you'll need to follow the right chain of command down to reach the actual nitty gritty stuff. I'm trying to make it set up like folders in a computer system...once I set it up, I'll post the address up here.

I think that covers all of your questions. If you could make yourself known, if you're showing up (I haven't checked that forum yet, so if you have, great!). I'll go and re-name the planet we're on...I'll call it Xaav'n.

Scratch that colour thing...
Red - Infantry
Green - Artillery
Yellow - Starships (Pilot variant of uniform is for Starfighters)
Blue - Security
White - Logistics, Admin

Intelligence, like the strike forces, has a black jumpsuit for on missions. However, while back at base, they will wear a black trimmed modification of the Clone Trooper Armour.

The Clone Trooper armour is like a "uniform". The rebels had uniforms...so do we. You don't have to wear them if they're unsuitable.

If you can't fit inside Clone Trooper armour, we would request that you let us know so we can come up with something for you...we have a particularly large Gunner on the Rage Marauder who will wear what used to be the Armour of a Dark Trooper...we modified the plating so it would fit him. The helmets are optional, but are preferred while in battle.

Basically, the Clone Trooper armour is as close to a "dress" uniform as we have. If we're doing official business, especially when wee're meeting with people outside of the Alliance, we'll wear that, and when we want to put on a show...when we want to attack the Imperials and say "Stormies, this is your ancestors. You've been very naughty soldiers. Now its time to kick your plastic-clad be-hinds."

PS. Is Be-hinds better? And I liked it when it said kick your -Censored- :D

Easily sixty-five percent of Alghieri's men are Varundana mongrels, more or less uruk-hai from LotR. That's quite a bit bigger than most trooper armour I've seen. Alghieri can probably cover that whole cost, though, depending on the armour specs.

(Alex) Jacen

We can make bigger armour...the helmet will be a problem. Slightly enlarged AT-AT Driver, maybe? Like a TIE pilot, but in white. The armour and stuff should be easy enough to make bigger.

We've got unofficial funding from Dantarno Engineering (Jacen Dantarno's uncle's engineering co.), who help us with the mechanical side of things. As he helps to fund us, he recieves protection for our forces. The same would be applicable of any other business...I guess I didn't make that clear.

I'll try and attract some business funding. My mercenary band was working out a contract with ShadowFaene...I'll see if they'd be willing to extend it to the Alliance. We're gonna need money...we haven't got a Mon Cal military that can come and bolster our forces.

Could you post up how many people you've got in each unit, what your "range" is (mission types), what equipment/ships you've got, and of course, what you want as a name. Forget what I said earlier. Basically, its:

Infantry - Melee weps. (swords, warhammers, maces, spears, etc)

Artillery - Ranged weps. (Trebuchet, Ballista, Longbow, etc)

Starships - Something like "Rage", "Vengence", or "Avenger" in the name (eg. "Rage" Marauder)

Starfighters - Squadrons named after birds (Falcon, Eagle, etc)

Security - Unit - (A, B, C, D, etc)

Transports - Whatever ya want

Intelligence - Things that go bump in the night

Admin - By function

So far, we have:

Infantry:
Strike Force Katana

Starships:
Rage Marauder

Well, I can't give you precise numbers for the whole group...say maybe three hundred gangsters, smugglers, etc. There is an elite unit, but it's based on Forcers. Call it Infantry Unit Lochabar. As of now, it's got four Forcer members: Baracc Olra'en (human, 17 std. yrs.), Guillame Merchall (mongrel, 37 std. yrs.), Michel Torentin (human, 34 std. yrs.) and Choir Aztaroth (albino Zeltron, 16 std. yrs.).

Their support team is maybe twenty mongrels, the best of the best, armed with ranged and melee weapons alike. Transport is generally a bulk cruiser or a smaller transport on assignment from Alghieri.

As for mission types...anything but infiltration.

Anything else?

EDIT: War game sound good sometime in the future?

*DUFF* (Thats the sound of my jaw hitting the ground)

Wow. Ok. I think we need a new unit in the infantry. If you could give me a rough number of how many people I could put down as infantry, artillery, starship, starfighter and logistics (cargo ships) people, and maybe some in security, that'd help loads. Wow.

Lochabar is what's on Xaav'n...Minion commands them? Or would you be wanting to be the commander of the mongrels, overall? If I re-structure some stuff in my head, and on the website, we can come up with a special section in all of the areas for the elite units (Special Infantry), and leave the Fury Troopers (Clone) as the "Mobile Infantry", and maybe induct your lot as the "Heavy Infantry" or something? That'd alleviate our uniform problem too - you could wear "Heavy Infantry" armour, which would obviously fit. I'd prefer it if it followed the same design conventions as Clone Trooper armour, though. I'll come up with some sketches at some point.

Anything but infiltration...looks like you'll work with my team pretty well. We're best suited to stealth and infiltration missions.

Silvo...if we have the Special Infantry, that'd be where your team goes. Are you representing a team, or just you? Let me know what you've got.

I haven't even finished the site and it already needs a major overhaul...*sigh* *grin*

Minion Alghieri

Well, they're approximate numbers, but here's the organization:

Lochabar: 24 (your Heavy Infantry, more urban combat than anything else)
Other Infantry: 26 (Pretty much just basic Infantry designator works)
Artillery: 5
Starship crew: 165
Fighter pilots: 12
Administrative: 50
Security (basically interior enforcers): 20
Hangers-on, street workers: in flux. Call it 250. Naturally, these are useless for anything but bringing in a trickle of money.

No, the entirety of Lochabar isn't on Xaav'n, just the core unit, the Forcers. I see no problem, though, with giving command of Lochabar to our equivalent of the joint chiefs. Or would that just be Minion Alghieri (yes, that's his real name:P), Jace Dantarno, and whatever other slightly-bigger-than-normal fish come along?

Side note: While a great many of Alghieri's men are mongrels, there are plenty from other races.

I am a lone person. Perhaps you could just incorporate me into your special ops cause my guy is a specialist in;

-sniping
-stealth/camoflage

He WAS a hired assassin, but now that im in that group I could be a sort of support sniper (with the right amount of equipment :rolleyes )

(Alex) Jacen
May 1st, 2004, 05:31:48 PM
Fancy teaming up with Jacen...if thats ok with him, I mean. Jace (me) is a Sniper too. Jacen is gonna be a special intelligence operative...I'm sure he could use someone to get themselves into a sniping position to cover him. Sound ok?

Silvo
May 1st, 2004, 05:45:25 PM
Which Jacen? :lol Either one I'd be fine with. So I'd be the cover for the special squad?

(Alex) Jacen
May 1st, 2004, 06:01:59 PM
Well, you'd cover for Jacen...the one you've worked with before. You'd be a "Special Intelligence" duo. Black suits, covert missions. You'll probably get back-up from my team on a few occasions. You'll be sneaking in to Imperial strongholds to steal information and stuff. Maybe the odd assassination. And if out teams work together, you and I will both be snipers...which will be incredibly fun. We could do a Legolas-Gimli thing...counting how many people we kill. And you could snipe a landspeader pilot in the head, causing him to crash, killing all of the Stormtroopers in his speeder...and I can say "It still only counts as one." :D

Wait are you going to be an intelligence officer? If not, could me and Jacen be the captains of the Reconnisance Squad?

(Alex) Jacen
May 1st, 2004, 07:31:24 PM
You could comprise the recon squad for now...as our main squads only comprise of about 4 or 5 people anyway, having a 2 or 3-man recon squad makes sense.

(Alex) Jacen
May 1st, 2004, 08:35:55 PM
Ok...I think I get the Lochabar thing now. Can we tweak the numbers a little so it fits with the military numbers in my head? Basically, can we shift 4 people from heavy to mobile inf, just so we get squads of 10? Oh, and do those numbers include the support people for the Forcers that you mentioned?

Infantry designations-wise, we have Heavy and Mobile. So, if we say the following break up:

Heavy Infantry: 2 Squads of 10
Mobile Infantry: 3 Squads of 10

Starship: 1 Starship...class is up to you
Starfighters: 1 Squadron...fighter type is up to you

Admin: 50
Security: 20

And maybe some of your hangers on could act as Technicians and stuff around the base?

* * *

I have a plan to get us a company of Fury Troopers. We're going to (if the mods aprove) liberate a world opressed by a rogue Imperial Moff. He'll have been training the locals to become his new army. We'll take out the Moff and the legit troopers, and some of the locals will offer their services. We'll get about 100 in all - a few Artillery units, 6 Fury Trooper (Mob Inf) units, and 2 "Starship Trooper" units, who'll be trained in doing stuff that involves boarding other ships. We'll also get a few contingients of guards who we'll be able to use...the Moffs personal security force.

Of course, this will only happen with mod approval.

Minion Alghieri

Lochabar (Heavy Infantry) breakdown:

Forcers: 4
Support: 20 (as there are four Forcers, 4 squads of 5 might work better than 2 of 10)
Total: 24

Alghieri has little use for a large ship. I'm thinking five to ten freighters of varied sizes, all armed but not obviously. One - perhaps, like the Flurry, a converted bulk cruiser - would function as a carrier for the fighters. I don't know a lot about ship classes on these boards, so setting down stats and such might take a little while.

(Alex) Jacen
May 2nd, 2004, 04:27:49 AM
That seems fairly logical. So the heavy infantry is Forcer support. Okie dokie.

The Flurry is veeeery big. They carry a lot of fighters, and that requires modification to the hull. (http://frankg.dgne.com/swsv/sorosuub/index.html) I guess it could work...but its up to you, and ultimately the mods. The Flurry is the same length as a Carrack Cruiser (well, give or take 10m), but its up to you. Here are some other ships you might want tah consider for any of your freighters:

http://frankg.dgne.com/swsv/kdy/index.html#galleon
- You could have the "independant cargo pod" carrying the fighters, so you could essentially dump the hanger somewhere, and run away. The Rage Marauder has a similar system, but she has 2 hanger pods, carrying 6 fighters each.

http://frankg.dgne.com/swsv/rsd/index.html#battlehorn
- Bulk cruiser...would be good for converting into any sort of combat-capable freighter.

http://frankg.dgne.com/swsv/rsd/index.html#neutronstar
- Similar to the Battle Horn, but it has a picture for this one. :D

http://frankg.dgne.com/swsv/other/index.html#720
- It uses the word "low cost" in the description...therefore, it must be good!

http://frankg.dgne.com/swsv/other/index.html#gallofree
- The almighty flying fish of the Rebel Alliance

http://frankg.dgne.com/swsv/cec/index.html#actionv
http://frankg.dgne.com/swsv/cec/index.html#actionvi
- Same ship, essentially, although the second is a newer model. No weapons, but easy to modify.

http://frankg.dgne.com/swsv/cec/index.html#barloz
http://frankg.dgne.com/swsv/cec/index.html#yt1300
http://frankg.dgne.com/swsv/cec/index.html#yt2400
- A few CEC freighters...waht more do I need to say?

Those are all of the suitable freighters off that page...there are obviously more in the galaxy. Ultimately, its up to you what you use...but I know the mods are trying to angle back towards a classic SW thing as far as ships go, so it might make them a little happier with us if we go along with it.
