:lol That's just grand, Charley. We have state flags, state trees, state birds, and now we have state spirits. I wonder if other states will follow suit.

Of course. This is now the "cool" thing to do :)

And it happened in one of the most morally-conservative states in the Union, at that :lol

Only in AL... where if you don't own a gun rack, you are not normal.

Isn't that Texas?

Or, is it specifically gun racks in the back of trucks in that state?

I don't have a gun rack...or a truck. I'm just not cut out for Texas I guess :(

And now I'm jealous of Alabama.

*shudders* Never thought I'd say those words...

Hey, that's stereotyping. Not all morally upright people (in fact, not even all Christians) think that drinking is wrong. So...

GO 'BAMA!!

So have some now. It's the best time to look at the boards.

*glances at Shade askance* Thought you looked a little tipsy :)

Am I to assume, by your comments, that you are a Christian and drink alcohol? If so, I raise my glass to you, brother.

*takes a swig of...Pepsi*

Hey, I said it wasn't wrong to drink. Never said I liked the stuff.

The religon thing is tricky when it comes to me, but drinking yes! Hell in the church I used to go to (which was filled with the most religous people!) were also the biggest drunks I have ever seen. Can I get an A-men on that m'brother!

*groan*

Where did you go to church? Oh, nevermind, it's off-topic.

Carry on, my carousing friends.

I drink wine in church.

Just wish they'd replace those tasteles crackers with some beer nuts or something. Hey, beer nuts can be holy!! :D

And the Llord spake, saying unto his people, "Take, eat. These beer nuts are my body, given freely unto you in their salty deliciousness so as to whet your appetite and possibly get you to buy more beer."

And the people did rejoice. "Yea! Mighty is my thirst!"

(God, I feel so blasphemous.*hangs head in shame*)

This is why I love being an atheist. I don't have to feel worried about some guy up in the clouds shaking his fist at me.

And with Good Friday around the corner, no less. Tsk tsk.

SHUT UP AND QUIT DERAILING MY THREAD YOU MISCREANTS!

-ahem-

Anyways, here's the stuff, hot off the shelves (and the last bottle left in the state store, as a matter of fact)

I present to you, Conecuh Ridge Fine Alabama Whiskey

<img src=http://www.panic.hopto.org/swf/charley/conecuh.jpg>

If you'll notice this little blurb:

<img src=http://www.panic.hopto.org/swf/charley/conbatch1.jpg>

That says Batch #001.

In other words, my bottle is from the first legal batch ever made (anything made pre-1997 is considered an illegal bootlegged whiskey).

So, the first legal run of the state's official booze. Hoorah.

This stuff is very crisp on the tongue.

I haven't had a Bourbon that had such a sharp, distinctive flavor to it. Its kinda spicy, like Jack Daniels, but the bite complements it instead of making it clash. The pungency in the aftertaste reminds me almost of a good Scotch, rather than a Bourbon. Yet, its still got the sweet overtones of true bourbon in the end. At 90 proof, its a great whiskey for savoring. Me and s'Il did a shot each, but I think this stuff might be better on the rocks.

I'd put this about on the level of Maker's Mark in my whiskey preference.

Who needs a gunrack on the computer? A true Texan carries her gun on her at all times.

Back on track, I can't believe Alabama has an official state booze and Texas doesn't. I think our legislature should fix that in the next session. j/k ;)
